F-ranker Sword Saint: My Soulbound Sword is Secretly SSS-tier!-Chapter 301: Recruitment Event
Inside a modest hall of weathered stone blocks and pillars, a blonde young man sat behind a wooden desk, focusing on nothing.

Daru smiled in appreciation as he dismissed the notifications after reading them.
The competition rewards could be considered modest but very helpful for a novice without a background, like him, though he couldn’t help but doubt whether people like Skylar would even appreciate them.
"Everyone, double-time, please!"
A voice snapped him out of his thoughts, snatching his attention. Daru looked ahead and felt slightly nervous.
Before him were a little over a hundred seats that were all fully occupied by professional guild acquisition agents, and there were at least a hundred more people squeezing themselves in, not caring whether they had to stand with their arms crossed over their chests, lean on the weathered stone walls, or scribble things while kneeling on the floor to finish up their offer revisions.
All of them were here to try their luck, even if the chances of them securing Onimaru Kunitsuna were slim to none.
The government and the Seven Sword Guilds were also here, after all.
"In thirty more seconds, we will begin the recruitment event, and for the sake of order, no one will be allowed to enter once the event starts," the academy staff announced.
Hearing the woman’s voice, the recruitment agents sprinted like their lives depended on it.
At least those who were fully invested in trying their luck with Daru made it on time. Attending this recruitment event was simply essential, especially for those smaller yet still competent guilds who are hoping for a miracle.
Of course, others could still try to contact Daru after the event. It was just that there was simply no way he would still be a free agent after today, so it was now or never.
The reinforced wooden door creaked and closed, locked the next moment by the arena administrator.
The recruitment event for the Class Representatives of Noravia’s Southern Bladeborn Academy has begun.
A few moments later, Principal Jebroham walked closer to Daru’s solo table, standing at the podium to personally oversee the recruitment event for his academy’s finest.
This would’ve been delegated to his secretary...had he had a secretary...
"Everyone, firstly, allow me to thank you for your enthusiasm in recruiting my student, Daru Finnley, and his renowned blade, Onimaru Kunitsuna." The old academy head bowed, then continued: "Let us make this event as orderly as possible. Also, I shall make a few things clear. As you all know, the academies are under the government, and as such, I’m also an agent of the government. I will not be a hypocrite in this event and will help our agent in any way I can to secure Onimaru Kunitsuna. However, worry not, as we will be competing with everyone fairly."
What he said was naturally a performance.
The plan was set, and this time, Jebroham was included, working together with Daru and the government recruitment agent sent by Hailey.
Of course, the agents of the Seven Sword Guilds were nowhere near close to biting.
They remained wary of what the government might pull to secure Onimaru Kunitsuna, because if purely talking from benefits, they were certain that a mere young man — however stoic — would at least double-guess their resolve after seeing their offers.
Still, Principal Jebroham’s speech eased their hearts to a degree. At least the government was honest with its intentions.
The recruitment agents would be more worried if they just stood and watched from the sidelines.
"I will not be delaying things further. Everyone, please put your offers on the table, and we shall give the free agent some time to digest them."
The moment Jebroham finished, the agents of the smaller guilds hurried to place their mystical envelopes on the wooden table, as if being first would equate to a higher chance of being chosen.
Daru was dumbfounded at the chaos.
Those from the Seven Sword Guilds only chuckled while shaking their heads, amused at the lesser competitors.
The government agent, meanwhile, only watched with a neutral gaze.
Around two minutes later, the order returned. Daru was encouraged by Principal Jebroham to open the envelopes, and the moment he opened the first one, a comfortable flood of information entered his mind.
’Oh...just like the Soulslips...’
He was quite familiar with this already, so Daru unhesitatingly opened each envelope, feeling a subtle connection with each one every time he learned of a detailed offer.
It would be easy for him to locate the envelope he wanted to, should he decide to choose to accept that guild’s offer.
’A pity...’
He would not be choosing any of them and was only receiving the offers for formality and performance, as Caleb reminded him again and again to act as well as he did in his match against Taiya.
Daru even appeared to be in deep ponderment from time to time.
Had Caleb been here, he would’ve been chuckling.
Soon, Daru finished checking all of them, and as soon as he did, the government agent and those from the Seven Sword Guilds stood up one by one, as though they had rehearsed the order in which they would hand their offers in.
’Alright...act according to the plan...’ he reminded himself.
The first one he checked was the government’s offer, a smile tugging on the corners of his mouth as he nodded, seemingly satisfied.
However, the contents of the envelope were merely further instructions from Hailey. There was no offer at all. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
A few moments later, he picked up and opened another envelope — the one from Steel Covenant.
His eyes "widened".
