F-Rank Soul Eater-Chapter 200: Reflecting To move Forward. (Nature OF Shades By Bonds)
...Soren pressed a few buttons on his wristwatch.
Communication with the outside world was forbidden for cadets.
But there were always methods to circum navigate this rule.
Or in this case, holes that could be exploited.
For example, even though Soren’s trial had been dismissed, it had been dismissed on the condition that by the time he reached the third form, he could prove he was a noble by accessing the Waterfell ancestral grave.
Meaning that his case had not truly been dismissed, but suspended.
As such, he was allowed to reach one person.
—one person in the outside world.
Devon Lamington—His Lawyer.
Soren sent a message to him.
[Soren: I need a favour. I remember your family is great at gathering information]
It took a while, but he got a reply.
[Devon: Sure. But its gonna cost you! 💸💸💸]
[Soren: I know.]
[Devon: 👌]
[Soren: Sending Details...]
[Devon: This is simple. But note, i can only help you with information on the tatget outside the Academy. After the stunt we pulled at the trial, they have tightened loosed ends.]
[Soren: External information is okay]
[Devon: Give me a few hours.]
Soren was taken back. ’A few hours?’
Sophia was a commoner that had clearly had a rough past, aside coming to the academy, Soren doubted there was much concurrent information about her, and yet, Devon had claimed he only needed a few hours.
Truly, the Lamington family were very capable.
Now that he had Sophia’s case handled, he could put his mind on other things.
His powerlevel.
Soren sat crossed leg and closed his eyes.
Having gone back and forth forcefully from this world to that one, he had learnt how to sink into it willingly.
Of course, it was none other than the world Chronovore ruled.
After the healing process, Chronovore had become quiet.
This was not just trashing about here, but even the hunger.
The high vigilance it had to keep against those shades trying to consume it while it was injured had made it tired.
And it was now asleep.
The world was still, the waves quiet.
Even the other Shades remained motionless like statues.
Weirdly enough, he could not see Chronovore.
Instead, in the center of this underwater world was a giant threaded cocoon.
It lay horizontally, like a giant bump on the skin of the ground.
It was the size of a huge building.
And it pulsed lowly from time to time.
Soren swarm towards it. But the moment he came too close, an invisible wave blasted outward—sending him back.
A bit of blood ran down the side of his cheek.
This was not the first time this was happening.
Since that day, he had been trying to reach this cocoon.
Another failed attempt it seemed.
His mind returned to the real world. He used a hand wipe tge blood from the side of his cheek.
Next, he checked on his inventory of swallowed shades.
Due to that accident with Goldsworth, he haf lost a lot.
Both useful and useless ones.
Till now, Soren did not know when or how he lost Ivory’s Shade.
That had been a very useful Shade. Losing it was a massive loss.
Still, he was grateful—he still had the Bulb, Tomato(Pencil’s Shade), Bogger (Tommy’s Shade), Goldsworth’s Shade, Vass’s Shade after achieving the first form.
These Shades would be the new core of his battles.
There were other Shades, mostly too broken, or he did not see the reason to use them—like the one that simply made a horn grow from his forehead
Regardless, they were at most ten of them.
He had lost all the others.
The wright on his shoulders was lighter. But it was a wake up call for him.
He was not so infallible.
Just as he had gotten them, and made them a part of his power, he could similarly lose them.
Furthermore, without Chronovore, he could not get more shades.
This was bad.
Soren sighed. Once upon a time, he was complaining about the hunger from his Shade.
Who would have thought that he would one day miss it?
Still, he began organising a new fighting style.
Without Ivory’s Shade, there was a huge hole in his battle style.
Only now did he realize how much he relied on it.
He would have to visit the Hunting grounds tomorrow to test out his battle skills.
Having organised thus far.
He moved his attention to a book. While he was tempted to read the the Discipline of Sorrow .
He had education to catch up to. And right now, his major concentration was on Shades.
The Unnatural Nature of Shades by Dr. Kaya.
As disappointing it was that a book written by Dr. Kaya was the book he picked from the library, he knew it was best.
After all, no one knew more about Shades than her—a Shade.
Soren flipped through the pages.
He already understood that Shades fed on negative emotions to survive, and that choice of nutrition was the primary attraction they had to the human world.
He needed to know more.
Just then, a topic caught his interest.
The Nature of Shades By Bonds.
The book began...
Shades are of different groups. These groups are independent of the ranks of their Soulbound warriors.
While the Color of the Shade matters the quality of bond made with the Soulbound warrior, it does not fundamental mean the Shade is weaker or stronger.
It just means the extent to which a Shade’s power may be utilised by its Soulbound warrior.
Meaning that in theory, a D–rank Soulbound warrior can produce as much power as an S rank, or an SS–rank warrior if they had quality bond with their Shade.
The quality of the bond is primarily determined by the development of the Shade, and what the Soul of the warrior can carry.
If this is the case, does that mean that a low level Shade is capable of the destructive ability of a high level shade?
Yes.
Yes it is. Do not be deceived. ALL SHADES ARE ABSOLUTELY DESTRUCTIVE.
