Extra's Path To Demon King-Chapter 189: Defending The Fortress [1]

The Gold Section was now fully inside of the marble fortress, every division separated on their own, without needing further discussions, they had already made plans on how to do what, first the sharpshooters including the valkyrie went to the top floor under the supervision of Vyra, Sophia herself also went to the top floor to keep an eye around everything.

The fortifiers under the command of Thorian became the most busy ones, they separated into two groups, one went to the 2nd floor where the various resources were kept, the giant arrows that would be fired from the ballistic crossbows on the top floor, and shields that would be used by everyone in the shock troops. They began to put them in their storage devices to distribute them on the top and bottom floors.

The other group of the fortifiers, including Thorian, remained on the ground taking positions, they would intercept the siege arrows fired from the enemy side at their gate through long-range magic, and make sure to do maintenance of the fortress gate from inside and so the gate would hold on.

The shock troops, after all of them receiving the shields, went outside under the leadership of Heinz, and the sharpshooters on the top floor received the ballistic arrows to fire at the enemy shock troops that would be on the bridge; they would be fired through the large crossbow artifacts at the top floor.

Some of the fortifiers remained on the 2nd floor after the distribution of the arrows and the shields. There were some small windows on the 2nd floor, from which explosives could be dropped at the enemy shock troops when they were near the walls. It could easily be said how much advantage the defending side had; the defensive side was fighting on their prepared home ground, while the attackers were on the enemy territory.

The preparations were all done as fast as possible. From the notable of the students on the sharpshooters division led by Vyra Vanelis, Lucien was on that division, confusingly. He would have been the right person to put in the shock troops, considering his excellent combat ability and strength. Lucien himself protested at that decision heavily at first, but Sophia revealed that his excellent efficiency in fire-type spells as a spellcaster would be best used from above. The third princess was on this division as well.

Lucien didn’t actually have the spellcaster aspect, but the Draconic aspect could be used in a way that seems like the spellcaster aspect. Well, it was indeed true, if he infused all the arrows with his potent fire, the effects of it would be... very much devastating.

In the fortifiers division, Thorian was the leader, and apart from him, Lumina was there, and most of the magic branch specialists, utility type, and support type Seekers were here as well.

In the shock troops, there was Heinz himself, Axel, Ken, Luther, and another Blackvale kingdom prince, and many more. Most of the combat-efficient Seekers were here. The Shock troops, all 100 of the Seekers in it, were standing in an eclipse format, surrounding the mouth of the bridge, leaving no way open for the enemy shock troops to escape from their encirclement and invade the fortress itself.

Also, for the ease of communication, Shock troops are referred to as the 1st division, fortifiers as the 2nd division, and the sharpshooters as the third division.

Sophia remained standing on the high edge of the walls, like the most shining and eye-catching figure, just one misstep and she would fall into the danger-filled waters from the height of the 3-story building, even she would not be unscathed from it. But there was no fear or any emotion in her eyes, violent winds blew all around her, as her dark dress fluttered in the bright daylight, high in the sky. Her long hair was like waves of pitch black darkness, as if they were part of the abyss itself.

Her skin, pure white skin, stood out even in the brightness of the day; her scarlet red eyes were those of a predator, it was filled with greed, the greed to devour and destroy its prey. She was intently gazing at the enemy section, their compositions, preparations, everything. She could see everything.

Lucien, who was right behind her, wanted to say something but hesitated, but eventually he asked her in the end, even though it wasn’t the right time to do so, "Are you ok?"

She did not turn around at his question but simply asked, "What do you mean?"

There was a long pause as he gritted his teeth and asked her flatly, "Axel Nomrad, why do you behave like that with him? Why does it almost seem like you find his existence interesting?"

She finally turned around and looked at the 4th prince from the height of the railing wall with cold and calculating eyes. For a moment, even the dragon blood within Lucien seemed to feel uncomfortable, but he did not look away from her threatening glare. It couldn’t be more obvious that Lucien was stating his jealousy.

The valkyrie chuckled and said, "He is indeed interesting, an interesting toy or object I would say, and I need something from him, nothing more and nothing less. I simply find him interesting to study."

Lucien wasn’t happy with that answer, but he knew if he inquired anymore, it would not lead to anything good, so he simply nodded and backed off. She turned around and spat in disgust. She couldn’t care less about the feelings of Lucien, no matter how grateful she was towards him.

Only a few minutes were left till the time for the preparation was over, and it was about to start. Multiple telepathic messages reached her ears simultaneously,

[Fortifiers are all ready and in position.]

[Shock Troops are all ready, and in position.]

[Sharp Shooters are all ready, and in position.]

Sophia nodded to herself and uttered, "Wait for my command."

Gareth and Professor Regina both were floating in the air high above the fortress battleground, as the allotted 30 minutes finished...right on the clock, they announced the words in unison, as their voices reverberated everywhere, heralding the beginning of the fortress war. "Let the battle begin."
