Chapter 153: The Principle [2]

Axel was heading towards the front building of the academy, where the principal sits in his office. It would be a lie if he said that he wasn’t apprehensive about meeting such a powerful being. To put it into perspective, Axel was able to fight peak 7th circle beings in the trial world as a peak 4th circle runecaster, though it was largely because he was prepared for things to go absolutely worst from the very very beginning.

But disregarding the ability to jump power levels, a proper 5th phase being from this Eldarion continent, just from their natural power level, can fight against peak 8th circle or maybe even 9th circle beings from the trial world. In retrospect, the rules and Will of the Eldarion continent are also much stronger and firmer. As such, the amount of destruction a 5th phase being can cause in Eldarion is much smaller compared to what they can perform in a weak world like the trial world of his.

Many of the students on the way greeted him with a smile, and many apologized to him vehemently. Well, Axel had the right to be furious at all the students, since they all collectively blamed him for the incident. After that was resolved, most of them felt somewhat guilty and thought to apologize to him. Though a small group still thought that Axel was still partially responsible for it, since he was the one who made the weapons, and he should have made them in a way that the runes could not be tampered with by anyone, runecaster or not.

As such, the apologies of the students and the apprehensive glares were mixed. But he didn’t care much about it; in a way, he did face a temporary loss because of this incident, but most of them would forget about it after a month, and his weapons were just too good not to be used just because of that incident. When more students started using them, the minority who had bad opinions about him would also have no choice but to buy his runic weapons and use them as well.

Not only that, this incident also gave him some new ideas, some very, very good ideas, something that would be very, very helpful at that time. He entered the building, and he saw various professors, staff, and officers. He greeted those he knew, but everyone seemed to know him, and no one stopped him, as if they all knew that he was called by the principal.

Reaching the third floor from the stairs, someone pointed him to the principal’s office, and surprisingly, it looked much more mundane than what he expected. There were no guards in front of the office room as well. He took a deep breath and stopped in front of the door. He gently knocked on the door, and a middle-aged man’s voice was heard from the inside,

"Please come in."

He gently pushed the door, as he entered inside, he saw a handsome but slightly old-looking man with dark brown hair and a short beard, his eyes were clear like glass, the man was signing some documents and said to him without looking.

"Please take a seat."

He greeted with utmost respect, "Student Axel Nomrad greets the Principal."

The principal simply gestured for him to sit down. It seems he was perhaps signing some important documents, or that this meeting wasn’t anything of much significance to the powerhouse.

Axel observed the room intently. It looked very mundane, as if it were a normal office room or something. It looked a lot similar to the office of his fathers. He wondered if there was a connection or something. He sighed and sat down on the sofa in front of the table. The room wasn’t small; in fact, it was quite large. One side was full of bookshelves, the other side seemed to be filled with various magic equipment.

After a few minutes of silence, in which Axel only observed the surroundings, eventually the mighty principal put down the papers he was signing and looked at Axel with a smile. Axel unconsciously straightened his posture a bit from the gaze of him. Axel was quite nervous in his heart, the reason for that being, he could not feel anything, absolutely nothing, no traces of magic or aura, any sort of energy. Not only could he not feel any sort of power from the figure of the principal, but also nothing from the surroundings.

While not feeling any traces of energy from the principal could be attributed to the fact that he was a powerful figure far beyond his own understanding, but also likely because the principal in front of him wasn’t his main body but probably an avatar. But why were there no traces of magic or power from the advanced equipment on the side, or any of the books?

The principal said with an assuring smile towards Axel, "Well, we finally meet Axel."

He also said with a somewhat forced smile, "Yes, of course it is my honor."

The principal chuckled, seeing his nervousness and his forced smile,

"Relax, boy, your grandfather and I were good friends, very good friends actually."

Axel showed a surprised expression, in fact he kind of expected that to be a possibility but for that to actually be was indeed unexpected, but he did not believe the powerhouse just like that, so what if he was a good friend of his grandfather doesn’t mean the principle would not harbor any bad intentions towards him, or see him as some kind of pawn.

But from what he knew of the story, the principal was indeed a man of a good heart.

He was someone who himself could be regarded as a main character of his own story, in a world ruled by heritage and power, someone who came from the lowest barrel of the society struggled desperately against all the existing organizations and made a change, except for the three kings he was by far the strongest being within the human lands.

And the reason why he was still cautious of the man is that he was betrayed by his master in the trial. Old men like these were monsters with their own motives and machinations, being careful never hurts after all, but being careless will hurt you in the end. But just for the sake of it, he made the motion of visibly relaxing slightly.

To which the old powerhouse simply smiled, he could likely see it with a glance that Axel was still on guard against him. The principal asked him meaningfully,

"Do you know the reason why I asked to see you, Axel?"

He shook his head and answered honestly, "All I can think of is this recent incident. But apart from that, I apologize, but I don’t know."

The principal nodded towards him and said, "Actually, there are 2 reasons, one is the obvious, which you said, but it is more so just for the sake of it."

"Another reason being, I just wanted to see the grandson of my friend, who seems to be just as talented as him."

Axel raised an eyebrow at that but did not speak. The principal added, "First, let’s get the official reason for calling you out of the way."
