Extra's Path: The Eternal Frost Monarch-Chapter 38: First Incident (3)
Noah did not back down. As the monster rushed toward him again, he extended his arm forward.
[Frost Bind]
Cold mana surged from his core into the ground beneath the monster. Ice suddenly formed around the monster’s two front legs, rapidly coating them and freezing them to the ground.
CRACK! CRACK!
Thick layers of ice wrapped around its legs, stopping its movement for a moment.
SCREEEECHHH!!!
The monster struggled, trying to move forward, but its legs were frozen in place.
Noah dashed forward, gripping his spear tightly. Mana flowed into his arms as he thrust the spear toward the monster’s neck, just under its head where the scales were slightly thinner.
Thrust!
The spear tip pierced into its flesh slightly, but not too deep.
Dark blood flowed out from the wound.
SCREEEECHHHH!!!
The monster roared in pain and rage. Its long tail suddenly swung from the side at terrifying speed.
Before Noah could fully pull back his spear, the tail slammed into his body.
BOOM!
"Ughhh!"
Noah’s body was thrown sideways, sliding across the road for several meters before he crashed and rolled on the ground.
He felt like some bones of his ribs were broken. A sharp pain shot from the side where he was hit.
He coughed, yet forced himself to stand up quickly with clenched teeth, holding his spear tightly.
The monster was still struggling against the ice binding its legs.
’I don’t have time... Frost Bind won’t hold it for long.’
Noah stretched his free hand toward the air and began to use his innate ability again.
Cold air gathered in front of him. Ice particles formed in the air and started gathering together, forming the shape of a small, sharp sword floating in midair above the monster.
The monster finally broke free from the ice around its legs.
CRACK! SHATTER!
It roared and immediately charged toward Noah again, now half-blind and covered in blood. He sent the ice sword higher into the air.
SCREEEECHHH!!!
Noah watched carefully as the monster approached.
The floating ice sword now remained above the monster.
It got closer.
At the last moment, the monster swung its claw toward Noah’s head.
Noah quickly ducked down to avoid the claw as it passed just above him.
Whoosh!
At the same time, Noah moved his free hand downward.
The ice sword above the monster moved instantly.
It shot down at high speed.
Stab!
The sharp ice sword pierced straight into the monster’s remaining eye.
Crack!
The ice blade buried deep into the eye, destroying it completely.
SCREEEEEEEEEECHHHHHHHHHH!!!
The monster let out a horrifying scream, louder than before, shaking the air around them as it became completely blind, thrashing its body wildly in pain and rage.
Noah stepped backward a few meters away from it. The monster was screaming and moving violently in pain.
Noah raised his right hand above his right shoulder, spear gripped tightly in a horizontal position, its blade directed at the lizard monster.
Mana swirled around the spear, making it glow slightly in blue color. It reinforced the spear.
Noah put his left foot forward, then with all of his strength, he threw the spear at the opened mouth of the monster.
The spear dashed forward like an arrow. It moved like a blue flash. It tore through the air with a whistling sound.
Noah didn’t wait; rather, he ran behind the spear. The salamander was screaming, its jaw was opened. The spear cleanly struck inside its mouth.
GRRRCCHHKKKKK!!!
The spear stabbed deeper. Blood gushed out from its mouth.
It thrashed violently in pain, not able to see anything.
Noah, who was closer to it, raised his hand and held the shaft of the spear.
With his strengthened muscles, Noah pushed the spear deeper with his full force. "ARRRGGGHHH!!" he screamed loudly while pushing it.
The spear continued to dig inside.
RECCHKKKKKK!!!
The monster raised its claw to attack, but it couldn’t see. The claw clashed on the road just beside Noah, but it didn’t stop him. The sharp spear moved forward.
Splattered!
The spear tip tore through the back side of the monster’s neck.
The blood splattered from both sides.
Some blood sprayed on Noah’s white hair, drenching him with blood.
The light in its eyes dimmed as the monster died.
Noah pulled out the spear from its mouth and stepped back. The huge body fell lifelessly.
Thud!
"Haf... haf..." Noah gasped for air.
He was able to kill the monster. Blood slowly flowed from his forehead.
"Damn! Killing one monster was so hard for me!"
And there were more monsters out there. He didn’t even know how many were there, how big the area was where monsters were spread, who was behind them, or where that person was.
He used his hand to clean off the blood on his forehead with his uniform’s sleeve.
BOOM!
Just then another sound of an explosion came. It was small, not too big.
There was still battle going on. Noah looked toward the side where two students were trying to kill a monster.
Noah narrowed his eyes. ’There are mostly first-year students around this area. A few might be second year... but I hardly saw them here. Whoever planned this... he really did everything thoughtfully. But what are they after?’
There was no point in thinking. Farther away from him, another fight was going on with monsters.
Noah could see it from his place. "Multiple fights going on... where the heck is the main cast? I need to find them to be safe." Noah started to run forward in the direction where another battle was ongoing with the same kind of monster.
Maybe it was because of killing a monster just now, that also alone. He felt more confident.
He aimed his spear once again and threw it with all his might.
The spear once again shot forward, this time in the direction of its leg.
Crushed!
SCREEEECHHH!
The spear tore inside the thick leg and stuck there.
The monster screamed in pain. Taking that chance, the two students near it simultaneously attacked.
The monster screamed in pain as Noah’s spear pierced deep into its leg.
SCREEEECHHHH!!!
It staggered forward, its movement becoming unstable. Dark blood flowed down its thick leg as it tried to pull the spear out but failed.
The monster then turned its head and looked in Noah’s direction, its yellow eyes filled with rage. That moment of distraction was enough.
"Now!"
