Chapter 103: Ebony Elf !?

The woman retreated, surprised by the bite of the cold, but immediately attempted a second thrust. Julian spun on himself, dodging effortlessly, the hostile blade cutting only air.

"So you’re Mira. And you, the nervous one?" he asked, his tone still light.

"We’re not here to chat, duke’s son," growled the second one, Mira, gripping her weapon tightly.

"You’re so serious..." he murmured, stepping back gracefully, his smile persisting. "And yet you’re far too graceful to fight like this."

He went back on the offensive. His movements were disconcertingly fluid, every gesture precise and economical in aura.

He executed a Frosted Blade Strike, and the blade released a sharp burst of ice that extended several meters. Mira tried to parry, but the attack slipped through, tracing a clean cut along her side.

One of the peculiarities of Julian’s art was not only that his aura had the property of ice but also that his attacks were extremely difficult to parry thanks to his blade’s incredible fluidity.

Julian then bowed slightly, the tip of his sword brushing the ground to trace a thin, sparkling line of frost.

The two women wavered, their coordination broken by the speed and precision of the strikes.

’I’m getting a bit bored. I should find Kris so we can fight a little.’

"Seriously... Why so much seriousness for a simple exam?" he murmured. "My tenth fight today... and always the same tension. Is attracting a faction’s attention really that important?"

He chuckled softly, then stepped back again, analyzing their postures. They resumed their assault, this time more coordinated, trying to flank him. Julian responded with a series of feints, toying with their rhythm, letting them tire themselves out.

"Easy... Easy... This is just a test, ladies, not a fight to the death."

He dodged a thrust from Mira, pivoted on his back leg and, in the same motion, delivered a pommel strike.

The cold metal struck the first commoner’s temple with a dull sound. She collapsed, unconscious. Before Mira could react, he followed with a Sweep against her ankles. She lost her balance and fell heavily to the ground, the breath knocked out of her.

Julian straightened up, letting his sword fall back along his thigh. The frost covering the blade dissipated into light vapor.

"Not bad," he commented with a slight smile. "But seriously... you women let yourselves get too overwhelmed by your emotions. It’s exhausting."

He then approached the still-conscious commoner. With absolute nonchalance, he gave her two light flicks behind the neck.

As her head dropped limply to the ground, a magic circle with bluish runes suddenly appeared beneath her, triggered by her unconscious state. The light engulfed her, and her body vanished, teleported out of the forest.

Julian continued on his way. And came across two trolls, medium-sized but well-muscled, blocking his path.

’Super-rare intermediate-level monsters.’ He thought.

"Ah... so you want to play now."

He raised his sword.

<First Movement: Frosted Blade>

Frost covered the blade once again. The trolls advanced, their heavy steps leaving marks in the ground. Julian remained calm. He moved fluidly, dodging the first troll’s attack, then struck the second in the leg. The impact created a thin trail of ice. The troll fell to its knees. The other tried to grab him, but Julian stepped back elegantly, his blade slicing through the air and striking the monster’s shoulder.

"I warned you..." he said softly, an ironic smile that said it all.

The trolls tried to get back up.

Then he decided to end the fight. With a precise Frosted Blade movement, he struck the ground in front of the troll, creating an explosion of frost that immobilized the other’s legs. In one forward step, he swiftly slashed the first’s throat. The second fell after one last attempt, unable to resist his precision and mastery.

His gray eyes swept over the clearing. A few monsters nearby, but none posed a threat. Julian crouched slightly, observed the area, and caught his breath.

He stood up, shaking his black hair lightly. His expression remained calm, seductive, almost detached. The clearing was silent around him. Half the candidates had been eliminated, and Julian advanced without effort. He had finished his fights, but he continued to observe, analyze, ready to react to the slightest movement.

His gaze passed over the sky, the trees, then back to the ground. Julian knew exactly where he was and where he was going. Every step of the exam was an opportunity to measure his skills, but also to confirm his superiority.

"Well..." he finally said, a wide smile spreading across his lips. He quickly pivoted to the side and leaped far away to dodge a dagger.

"Oh... A dark elf!?" His eyes widened.

"No, I’m a guy."

His face darkened as he looked at the elf who had just attacked him.

"And what were you doing behind me, bastard?"

"Isn’t the point of attacking from the blind spot? For a warrior whose combat style is based on assassination?" The dark elf raised an eyebrow.

"I’m not interested in guys, dude... I’m leaving."

"I’m not gay!"

"Yeah yeah, and I’m not handsome? Go on, get lost, go flirt with some other guy."

Ragnar’s cynical face grew even more irritated...

"You, I’m gonna fuck you up." He drew his blades.

"No thanks!"

Julian jumped onto a branch and disappeared into the canopy as if fleeing.

"Damn, guys are getting bolder and bolder these days!"

Four hours had passed since the start of the entrance exam. Out of the five hundred new students, only about twenty remained. The rest had been eliminated by monsters, by fatigue, or by their own mistakes.

Kris Donoghan advanced cautiously, his spear firmly held in his hands. His amber eyes swept across the clearing. His dragon tattoo extended along his neck down to his arm, glowing faintly under the sun. He knew the exam spared no one and that every movement could be fatal.

The ground was littered with debris, broken branches, and monster tracks. Kris had already eliminated several giant spiders. Each creature fell under his precise and powerful strikes, and he gave no chance to his opponents.

<Art: Flaming Lion>

Kris hurled his flaming spear toward a giant spider that burst from a bush. The flame crackled on the tip, enveloping the creature’s body in a scorching burst. The spear pierced the arachnid’s abdomen, and it collapsed in silence. Every movement Kris made was fast and destructive. He knew time was running out and that the most powerful students would soon appear.
