Chapter 642: Chapter 640: The War Begins!

In the alleys of Florence City, the Black Robed Wizards had disappeared without a trace, but the Black-armored soldiers continued their busy work. As the snow fell heavier, their movements became more rapid.

Eventually, the Black-armored soldiers cleared all the bodies, cleaned up the entire battlefield, making it impossible for anyone who came later to detect any sign of what had happened.

After completing their tasks, the Black-armored soldiers silently left the alley like ghosts, as if they had never existed. They quickly made their way to the streets, now covered by the relentless snow, with hardly a soul in sight, everything swathed in white.

At one end of the street, the sound of numerous footsteps approached; on closer inspection, it was an innumerable number of Black-armored soldiers marching swiftly.

The squad of Black-armored soldiers that emerged from the alley did not hesitate and merged into the main force, like a drop of water joining the ocean.

The main force continued its march without any disruption, soon leaving the city and meeting up with a troop of Black Armored Cavalry.

The now-augmented force pressed on without pause into the never-ending snow, stopping only when they reached a hill outside of Florence City.

...

At the top of the hill, seven or eight Black Robed Wizards appeared, their black robes embroidered with the pattern of rising flames, signifying they were Wizards of Black Evil Castle.

"Snap!"

From within the ranks of Black-armored soldiers, a Cavalry dismounted and quickly approached the front of the formation, kneeling on one knee before the Wizards on the hill, his voice blending with the howling wind and snow as he loudly reported, "The Wizards of Black Evil Castle, the Mo’er Alliance Floren Black Iron Guard, as ordered, has joined forces with others to clear the remnants of Deep Blue Castle from Florence and has assembled here, awaiting further instructions from you, Masters."

"Very well," one of the Wizards of Black Evil Castle spoke, his voice cold and piercing, slicing through the wind and snow without hindrance, "You have done well, and I have noted it. Now, follow us, and continue to prove your ability and courage, to claim the wealth and rewards that are yours. Many have already set out ahead; we must not fall behind, understood?!" Having said this, the Wizard turned and walked toward the other side of the hill.

"Yes!"

The leader of the Black-armored soldiers responded, thumping his right fist against his chest in a gesture of obedience, then he mounted his horse and led the entire troop to follow the Wizards, disappearing into the snow.

...

At the same time, in many other places, similar events were unfolding.

The atmosphere along the entire East Coast had become tense, filled with the scent of gunpowder.

What had happened?

Nothing had happened, only... the war had begun!

Yes, the war had begun!

...

The war had begun.

In the Witch Forest, at the Dark Forest Gathering Place, Richard received this news.

"Squeak," he stepped out from the wooden building, and immediately, Richard felt the biting wind and snow on his face—yes, the same snow was also falling in the Witch Forest.

The cold wind striking his face, snowflakes spiraling into his collar and down his neck, Richard’s spirit involuntarily jolted. With a thought, the air around him stirred, and a thin, transparent membrane appeared, blocking the onslaught of the wind and snow like a hooded cloak.

Squinting, Richard looked towards the various parts of the Gathering Place.

Richard saw many wizards coming and going within the gathering place, bustling with activity as they made their final preparations before departure.

"Squeak, squeak, squeak..."

At that moment, the sound of footsteps on the snow arose from behind.

Richard turned his head, sensing something, and then saw Wizard Eva approaching, with several people following her.

Seeing Eva, Richard had already realized something and took the initiative to greet her, "Good day, Master Eva."

"Hello, Wizard Richard," Eva responded as she approached and stood still, then pointing to the several wizards behind her, she said, "These are the wizards I mentioned before, who will cooperate with you on the offensive route. Although their strength isn’t very formidable, they are capable workers; let me introduce them."

"Alright," Richard nodded.

"This one is Wizard Bata, a mid-level First-level Wizard," Eva spoke.

As Eva spoke, Richard saw a tall and sturdy man who resembled a tower, his face covered with a beard, who looked more like a strongman than a wizard. The man looked over and nodded as a greeting, and Richard immediately nodded back.

"This second one is Wizard Noel, also a mid-level First-level Wizard," Eva continued, and Richard saw someone who looked like a child who hadn’t grown up yet, barely reaching or even not quite reaching one meter sixty.

This height wouldn’t be considered too short amongst ordinary people, after all, in this world, people generally suffered from malnutrition. But the person’s smooth face and barely noticeable Adam’s apple compared to Wizard Bata before, really made him seem like a child who had not yet come of age.

The person shrugged his shoulders and spread his hands, making an odd greeting gesture, to which Richard could only respond with a smile.

"This third one is Wizard Jenny, also a mid-level First-level Wizard," as Eva spoke, Richard saw a witch. Compared to Bata and Noel, she seemed more ordinary or, rather, more normal. She had a pleasant appearance but wasn’t strikingly beautiful, carrying a reserved and cautious temperament.

She looked over calmly and waved a greeting, and Richard waved back.

"Then there’s the last one," Eva said, glancing at the person following her and arching her eyebrows, "as for this one, I need not say much, you’re already familiar."

Richard looked over and nodded, "Indeed I am."

The last person was Wizard Teddy.

Bata, Noel, Jenny, Teddy—these four individuals—three mid-level First-level Wizards and one low-level First-level Wizard, were the ones Eva had assigned to him.

He was well aware that among the three people—Bata, Noel, and Jenny—one or more of them were tasked with monitoring him. As for Teddy, he was likely included to fill the numbers or to ease his concerns. After all, being surrounded by strangers would naturally make him wary. Having an acquaintance among them would help put him at ease.

It seemed that Eva had indeed put a lot of thought into this.

He didn’t feel repulsed by this; in fact, he was thinking more about having help when excavating Yadisi Village. Having the labor of four First-level Wizards at his disposal should be more efficient than previously exploiting the work of one First-level Wizard along with four Wizard Apprentices.

At this point, Eva looked over and asked, "What do you think? Do these four meet your approval, Wizard Richard?"

"Of course," Richard nodded.

"Good, then prepare to leave and carry out your route. I and the others must leave as well to execute the other routes," Eva said, then something occurred to her, "Oh, before you embark on your route, first make a trip to Malaga Mine. There’s a military unit specifically arranged for you there."

"Malaga Mine? A military unit?" Richard was taken aback.

"Yes," Eva nodded, not seeming to be joking at all.
