Chapter 630: Chapter 628 Small Request
However, when Richard saw the scar on Tifeng’s face, he was slightly startled and blinked, saying, "Tifeng Wizard, the wound on your face looks quite severe. Did you get this during the escape earlier?"
Tifeng seemed indifferent, whether genuinely or pretentiously, "Yes, it was from the escape. But it’s just a minor injury. It only affects my appearance, nothing serious.
The wound will heal over time. The corroded area is indeed a bit troublesome as the corrosion energy is hard to dispel. However, I’ve heard that there’s this viscous medicinal substance called ’Healing Glue’ circulating from the Main Continent. Once used, it can neutralize the corrosion energy. Then, everything will return to how it was before, no need for Wizard Richard to worry."
Teddy muttered softly from the side, "Anyway, you’re uglier than me until you recover."
Tifeng’s mouth twitched as if he hadn’t heard Teddy’s voice and turned to Richard in a serious manner, "Alright, Wizard Richard, we won’t keep you any longer. We’ve come to deliver a message. Master Eva would like to ask if you’re free. If so, she awaits you at her residence and would like to talk."
"Now?"
"Yes, now."
"Alright then." Richard nodded and walked toward the door, "I happen to have the time right now."
After a couple of steps, he looked back at Tifeng and Teddy, who hadn’t moved, and asked, "What’s the matter? You two aren’t coming along?"
"No." Tifeng shook his head, "Wizard Eva said it’s a private talk just for you, so we won’t be disturbing."
"Alright then, see you later."
"See you."
Richard took steps toward the center of the Gathering Place.
...
At the center of the Gathering Place, in the residence of Wizard Eva.
Richard knocked on the door and, after receiving a response, walked in.
His eyes swept over the room’s exceedingly simple decoration, slightly surprised to find that Wizard Eva, the manager of the entire Gathering Place, led such a modest private life.
But it was only a brief moment of surprise; his gaze fell on Eva, and Richard greeted her, "Hello, Master Eva, I heard you wanted to speak with me?"
"Yes." Wizard Eva nodded. Her expression was neither warm nor cold, maintaining her dignity without being arrogant—much the same as usual. She gestured towards a chair by the table and said, "Have a seat so we can talk."
"Alright." Richard didn’t stand on ceremony and sat down, looking at Eva.
Eva lifted her head and their eyes met, as if ready to communicate directly without words through this gaze.
Richard maintained a smile while Eva looked calm.
The eye contact lasted a while, until finally, Eva broke the silence, getting straight to the point, "Wizard Richard, many have testified that you showed immense strength at Deep Blue Castle, instantly killing dozens of Black Robed Wizards to help them break free. Then you deliberately drew the enemy’s attention to cover their escape. You acknowledge this, right?"
"I acknowledge it, it was indeed what I did," Richard nodded.
"Why did you do that?"
"In that situation at the time, doing so was to help both myself and others. Why not do it?" Richard countered.
"Then I have a question," Eva’s voice rose slightly, "Where exactly did you get such formidable power that you displayed, Wizard Richard?"
"Heh," Richard chuckled softly, "Of course, I learned it from Master Guluo. He taught me many things; what’s usually shown is just a part. Some things require a certain price to be paid before they can be cast. Under the circumstances at Deep Blue Castle, I couldn’t afford to think too much, so I just used them."
"So you’re saying, Wizard Richard, all your power originated from Master Guluo?"
"Yes."
"Then..." Eva’s tone shifted, becoming somewhat indignant, "it seems those spies really deserved death, to have actually caused the death of Master Guluo, that’s a loss for our entire Gathering Place!"
Richard nodded as if in agreement, but he chuckled lightly to himself, certain now of the way Eva treated him—her words set the tone. It appeared the situation he feared most had not occurred, which was good news for him. Now there was no need to beat around the bush.
Looking up, Richard addressed Eva, "Master Eva, you didn’t call me here just to inquire about these matters, did you? Is there something else?"
"Indeed, there is one thing, Wizard Richard, I hope you can accept this," Eva said as she placed a metallic badge on the table in front of her.
Richard looked and saw the badge, about a quarter the size of a palm, cast from an unknown metal and colored emerald green. It bore the pattern of withered branches, representative of the Jungle Hut. In the center of the badge was a dark, ancient tree, symbolizing the Dark Forest Gathering Place. Turning the badge over, there was gold lettering—his name—Richard Austin.
Holding the badge in his hand, he could feel its substantial weight. When he infused it with Free Energy Elements, it reacted in a special way—the badge itself was a Magic Tool, etched with an extremely intricate Lighting Spell. Its illuminating effect was not much stronger than a regular spell, but it served an anti-counterfeit purpose, signifying identity.
Watching Richard lift the badge, Eva explained, "This is the identity recognition item for core members of the Gathering Place. Usually, only Second-level Wizards or very few First-level Wizards at the peak have one. Possessing it entitles you to use the treasured resources in the Gathering Place and participate in the planning of many significant events. In my view, Wizard Richard’s strength more than qualifies him to receive this badge."
"Should I accept it then?"
"Indeed."
"Alright," Richard actually pocketed the badge.
At that point, Eva spoke again, "There is another matter I need to discuss with Wizard Richard, and take it as a request from me—it would be best if you could comply."
"What is it?"
"Before long, there should be an exchange event. I hope Wizard Richard can attend it when the time comes."
"An exchange event? Another exchange event?" Richard frowned involuntarily, his thoughts drifting to his experiences at Deep Blue Castle.
Eva quickly explained, "This exchange event is different from the one at Deep Blue Castle; it could actually be called a Joint Revenge Exchange Event. Nearly every Wizard Organization that suffered losses at Deep Blue Castle will attend with the aim of uniting for revenge against Deep Blue Castle."
"I see," Richard asked, "When exactly, and where?"
"That..." Eva spread her hands, "is uncertain."
"Uncertain?" Richard’s expression turned peculiar.
Eva smiled wryly, "I know it doesn’t seem reasonable, but things are not as simple as one might imagine. Although everyone most certainly wishes for revenge, there are many disagreements over the details, so the time and place of the event have not been decided yet. But I can assure you it won’t take too long to confirm.
When it’s settled, I hope you’ll attend, Wizard Richard. Your strength is not to be overlooked within the Gathering Place. If you participate, it will give our Gathering Place a greater voice."
After thinking it over, Richard said, "Attending isn’t an issue; after all, with rights come responsibilities," as he waved the freshly acquired badge.
"However..." Richard’s tone shifted again, "before participating, I have a small request, and I hope, Master Eva, you can grant it to me."
"A small request? What is it?" ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com
"That is..." Richard began.
Listening, Eva’s eyes flickered subtly.
