Exploring Technology in a Wizard World-Chapter 571 - 569: Slap You into a Möbius Strip
Chapter 571: Chapter 569: Slap You into a Möbius Strip
Richard didn’t linger in the graveyard for long, quickly making his way back to the Gathering Place.
Dark Forest Gathering Place.
Stepping out from the surrounding forest, Richard headed toward the teetering three-story wooden building on the outskirts of the Gathering Place.
In another corner not far from the Gathering Place, Wizard Wan An, having lost face, was staring intently at Richard’s retreating back, not moving his gaze until Richard disappeared into the wooden building and out of his sight.
"Um—" Wan An pursed his lips and muttered softly, "It’s quite late for him to be returning from outside the Gathering Place; it seems a bit unusual. Moreover, if he truly is Master Guluo’s student, that old witch, how could he have so much free time? Could it be that the old witch has changed her ways?"
After talking to himself for a moment, Wan An glanced around thoughtfully, turned his head, and walked toward an inconspicuous two-story wooden building in the Gathering Place, knocking on the door.
"Bang, bang, bang!"
With a "creak," the door opened, and Wizard Phil emerged, looking puzzledly at Wan An, "Wizard Wan An, what brings you here?"
"Ah, well, there’s something I wanted to ask you about, Wizard Phil. It’s concerning that student of Master Guluo, that... Richard. I hear you’re quite familiar with him?"
"Misunderstanding, just a misunderstanding—I simply know him, that’s all. Far from familiar. Now, the conflict you had with him at the gathering, I did hear about that. I think it’s better not to make too big a deal out of such things. After all, standing behind him is Master Guluo, and if she gets angry..."
"You’re right, Wizard Phil. I’m not looking for revenge, though. Just trying to understand him better."
"Understand? Ah, well then, come in, and we can talk," said Phil.
"Okay." Wan An followed Phil without refusal, entering the building.
...
After a long conversation in the room, Phil finally saw Wan An out.
As he walked away, Wan An sought confirmation from Phil, his eyes gleaming, "So, you’re saying that the first time you met him, you didn’t actually see Master Guluo?"
"But I did hear Master Guluo’s voice, although it was a bit... well, shrill, it was indeed hers. Is there a problem?" Phil asked, looking toward Wan An.
Wan An stopped in his tracks, seemingly pondering something seriously before responding: "Ah, no, nothing, no problem at all."
"If there’s no problem, then that’s good."
"That’s what I think, too."
"So... Wizard Wan An, we’ll see each other again?"
"See you." Wan An waved goodbye to Phil and went toward his own wooden building.
Phil turned and returned to his building, his gaze slightly odd. He had some guesses about Wan An’s visit but wasn’t certain, ultimately shaking his head and deciding not to bother about it.
...
Meanwhile.
In Master Guluo’s residence, the underground space, Richard was transcribing the Handbook about "Divine’s Right Hand" that he obtained from Holy Yatis.
The Handbook contained a lot of useless information, and after rewriting it all, organizing it, it became structured and much easier to understand.
Putting away the Handbook and the newly transcribed scroll, Richard took out his Space Handbag and was ready to enter Eden.
Just before entering, he paused slightly, recalling the feeling of being spied upon when he returned to the underground space. Out of caution, he stepped into the corner, pushed open a bookshelf, revealing a small concealed door. Entering a recently devised secret chamber through this door, he then settled the Space Handbag down and entered Eden.
As for the spying, he didn’t take it too seriously.
He was well aware that the one spying on him was Wan An Wizard, and he could guess some of the strategy behind it, but he didn’t care.
The other party might uncover some information or even find some of his weaknesses, but without concrete evidence, they would definitely not act recklessly.
This was evident from the previous exchange meeting, where the other party had chosen to swallow pride rather than lash out in anger. To put it nicely, it was caution and steadiness; to put it less favorably, it was cowardice and weakness.
Dealing with such a person did not require much effort. After all, his time and resources were limited, and it was not worth wasting them on the other party. Of course, he couldn’t completely ignore them. The other party was, after all, a bona fide wizard from the Jungle Hut, and even if they were the weakest of the lot, they deserved some attention.
Therefore, before the other party took any action, he had already thought of countermeasures. He even planned to use the other party’s moves to completely eliminate the discrepancies of his constructed identity and make it entirely genuine. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel-com
Now, the only thing he needed to consider was that he hoped the other party would be competent and not make him wait too long.
With these thoughts, Richard entered Eden.
...
Inside Eden.
The four walls of Eden "twinkled with starlight," indicating that the lighting system had been adjusted to the correct time interval. It didn’t need guessing to know that Pandora had done it—since the last bout of mischief, she had become much more sensible and had not erred since. As a reward, he had given her the right to control the lighting.
And since gaining this power, she indeed had not misused it, which pleased him greatly.
Of course, what pleased him the most was her recent progress in learning. As the mathematical knowledge was continuously taught, although Pandora was still not as adept as some Earth students, she had significantly improved from initially struggling with the Multiplication Table.
Given time, he might actually witness a young dragon proficiently mastering calculus, spatial analytic geometry, and various advanced mathematical concepts, which would make battles quite interesting.
For instance, slapping an enemy into a Möbius strip (even the thinnest paper has two sides, but a Möbius strip only has one).
Or punching an enemy’s back into the Weierstrass function (continuous everywhere but differentiable nowhere, essentially bent into innumerable segments).
Or with a full-powered strike, reducing the enemy to an empty set (void of any element).
With these musings, Richard walked into the main laboratory and saw Pandora sitting at the table, propping her chin with both hands, biting down on a Quill, and staring wide-eyed at the problem on the Papyrus Scroll on the table.
After a long while, Pandora suddenly slapped the table hard, exclaiming loudly, "Aha! I’ve got it!"
With that, she picked up the Quill and quickly started writing on the Papyrus Scroll, almost in one breath.
Once she had finished writing, Pandora threw down the Quill, grabbed the Scroll, turned around to face Richard, and said proudly, "I’ve finished the homework you left for me, take a look."
"Alright," Richard took the Scroll and quickly started reading, remaining silent for quite a while.
Pandora, slightly anxious, spoke up, "Well, is it correct?"
"It’s not correct," Richard shook his head.
"What! How is that possible? I clearly..." Pandora was full of reluctance.
Richard then said, "But it was only the last step that you got wrong. The rest is correct. That is to say, your procedure and thought process were right, but you were careless and got the result wrong."
"Uh, is that so..." Pandora’s voice softened, getting the result wrong was an old issue for her, one that she could never seem to fix.
"So, you have to keep working hard and be more and more careful," Richard patted Pandora’s head lightly.
"I know, I won’t make the same mistake next time," Pandora muttered resentfully under her breath, "Also, don’t pat my head. It’s because you do that so often that I always get things wrong."
"What about this then?" Richard ruffled Pandora’s hair.
Pandora’s eyes instantly widened, and after a good while, she said, "This is... sort of... okay, I guess. Hey, where are you going?"
