Exiled!? Ha! I have An Infinite Space-Chapter 52 -
The moment the rope came flying upward, empty and dripping with rainwater, panic exploded across the scene like wildfire, every guard visibly shaken as the terrifying reality settled heavily upon them.
What moments ago had been a rescue had now transformed into a nightmare, the storm raging mercilessly while Fu Li stood frozen in Fu Sheng’s arms, her eyes wide with horror as she stared into the dark pit that had swallowed Su Long without a trace.
"Sister-in-law?!"
Her voice cracked violently as she struggled free from Fu Sheng’s hold, rushing toward the edge of the hole despite the slippery mud beneath her feet.
"SISTER-IN-LAW!"
Her desperate cries echoed downward.
But there was no response, only rain and darkness.
Fu Li’s entire body trembled as fear consumed her completely, tears streaming uncontrollably down her face while she continued shouting into the pit as though sheer desperation alone could somehow bring Su Long back.
"SISTER-IN-LAW!! PLEASE ANSWER ME!!"
Nothing, not even an echo.
Behind her, the guards had already fallen into visible disarray, their earlier composure shattered as murmurs of alarm spread rapidly among them. Several men crouched near the broken rope, examining the soaked fibers with growing unease, their expressions darkening by the second.
"The rope has already cut..."
"That fall..."
"...No one survives that easily."
The Head Guard stood rigid, his sharp eyes scanning the pit as his mind raced for solutions, his authority struggling against the chaos unfolding before him. He turned sharply toward his men, his voice firm but edged with tension.
"Think!"
The guards began speaking rapidly, each suggestion colliding into the next.
"We could tie multiple robes together—"
"They will tear under weight!"
"We can lower someone—"
"With what rope?!"
Every idea collapsed and failed, the silence that followed grew unbearable.
Then —
Fu Sheng finally moved.
His face was pale, yet his eyes burned with something far more dangerous than fear.
"Do any of you have a dagger?"
The guards froze.
The sudden question sliced sharply through the tension.
They exchanged uncertain looks before their gazes shifted toward the Head Guard.
A heavy pause followed.
Then he gave a slow nod.
"Give it to him."
Without hesitation, two guards stepped forward, drawing their daggers before handing them over to Fu Sheng.
Fu Li turned sharply, confusion and dread flooding her tear-filled eyes.
"Fu Sheng...?"
Her voice trembled violently as she stumbled toward him.
"What are you going to do...?"
Fu Sheng did not answer immediately.
He did not even look at her.
Instead, he tightened his grip around the daggers, his knuckles turning pale under the rain as he stepped toward the edge of the pit.
Fu Li’s panic surged instantly.
"No!"
She rushed forward, grabbing his sleeve desperately.
"You cannot go down there! You will hurt yourself! You will die!"
Her sobs grew louder.
"Please do not do this!"
Fu Sheng finally spoke but he still did not face her.
"...All of this is your fault."
Fu Li froze.
Her grip loosened slightly.
"I will not let my wife disappear because of you."
The words struck like a blade.
Before Fu Li could react, Fu Sheng stepped forward.
Then, without hesitation he leapt into the hole.
Gasps erupted instantly.
Fu Li’s scream tore violently through the storm.
"FU SHENG!!!"
But Fu Sheng’s descent had already begun.
With swift precision, he drove both daggers into the muddy walls of the pit, their blades sinking firmly into the soaked earth as he used them to anchor himself, his body sliding downward in controlled movements.
Rainwater streamed around him.
Mud crumbled beneath him, Yet his grip never faltered.
Fu Sheng kept moving downward with stubborn determination, his daggers sinking again and again into the muddy walls of the pit as the rain poured endlessly around him.
His arms burned from the strain, his clothes were already soaked through, yet he did not slow down, did not hesitate, did not even think of stopping.
Finally, his feet touched the ground.
Cold rainwater had already gathered heavily at the bottom of the pit, thick mud swirling beneath the surface as the storm above continued without mercy.
The water rose past his knees and crept steadily toward his thighs, soaking him completely, making every movement heavier, slower, more difficult.
But Fu Sheng did not care.
"Su Long!"
His voice echoed sharply through the darkness as he forced his legs forward, dragging his feet through the mud while his eyes searched desperately in every direction.
"Su Long!"
Only rain answered him.
Then suddenly, he heard a very weak and soft groan.
Fu Sheng froze instantly, his heart slamming violently against his chest as he turned toward the source of the noise.
And then he saw her.
Su Long’s body rested against the muddy wall of the pit, half-submerged in rainwater, completely still. Her hair clung wetly to her face, mud streaked her clothes, and just above her temple —
A thin line of blood.
"SU LONG!"
Fu Sheng rushed forward without thinking, splashing violently through the rising water, stumbling through the mud as fear gripped him completely.
He reached her in seconds.
Dropping to his knees.
His arms wrapped around her instantly.
Her body was freezing cold, shivering weakly.
Her breathing soft and unstable.
Fu Sheng lifted her face carefully, his hands trembling as he cupped her cheeks.
"Su Long... stay with me."
His voice shook.
"Do not close your eyes."
Rainwater streamed down around them.
"You are safe now."
His breath trembled.
"...Please."
He did not even realize when tears began falling from his eyes, mixing helplessly with the rain.
Su Long’s eyelids fluttered weakly.
Her vision blurred.
Yet with the last bit of strength she had left, she slowly lifted her hand and gently wiped the tears from Fu Sheng’s face.
Then, her arms fell limp.
Fu Sheng’s heart nearly stopped.
"No... Su Long!"
Panic rushed through him violently as his eyes darted frantically around the pit, searching for anything that could help.
Then. he saw it.
The remaining half of the rope.
Without hesitation, he grabbed it and quickly returned to Su Long. With careful urgency, he lifted her unconscious body onto his back, securing her tightly against him as the rainwater continued rising around them.
His hands moved fast as he tied the robe and held her tight.
Making sure she would not slip.
Only when he was certain she was secure did Fu Sheng rise again, gripping both daggers tightly as he stared upward toward the distant opening.
The climb back up would be difficult.
Fu Sheng began climbing upward with Su Long tied tightly against his back, his daggers digging deeply into the soaked walls of the pit as rainwater continued streaming down around him. The climb was far more difficult than the descent had been. Mud loosened beneath every step. The walls were slippery. His arms trembled from exhaustion. His muscles burned with pain.
Still, he did not stop.
Each movement required strength he no longer had, yet somehow he forced his body to continue, his jaw clenched tightly as he pulled himself higher little by little. The weight of Su Long against his back made everything harder. Every slip sent fear through his chest. Every unstable foothold made his heart beat faster.
But Fu Sheng endured.
Finally, his hand reached the edge of the pit.
Several guards reacted instantly, rushing forward as they grabbed his arms and pulled him upward with urgency. Mud splashed beneath their boots as they struggled briefly before successfully dragging him onto solid ground.
Fu Sheng collapsed onto his knees, breathing heavily, rainwater dripping from his soaked clothes.
Behind him, Su Long remained completely still.
But she was alive.
And that alone was enough.
A heavy wave of relief swept through the group. The guards visibly relaxed, tension leaving their faces as the nightmare that had gripped them moments ago finally began to fade.
Fu Li’s eyes filled instantly.
"Sister-in-law!"
She rushed forward, her voice trembling with emotion as she stared at Su Long’s unconscious form.
"She is breathing..." one guard muttered softly.
Another sighed in relief.
"We made it..."
One of the guards stepped forward carefully.
"Young Master Fu, allow me to carry—"
Fu Sheng lifted his head sharply.
The look in his eyes was enough, cold and terrifying.
The guard froze.
Then slowly stepped back.
The Head Guard observed quietly before speaking in a calm, firm tone.
"Let him carry his wife."
The guards immediately fell silent.
"You help the others."
With no one daring to argue, Fu Sheng slowly rose to his feet, Su Long still secured against his back. His movements were heavy with exhaustion, yet his grip on her remained firm and protective.
Without a single word, he began walking.
The storm had not softened, but the fear had.
Behind him, the guards gathered Bai Ming and Fu Li, ensuring both women were stable enough to move.
Soon, the entire group began making their way back toward the cabins, their footsteps slow against the muddy ground.
"You are safe now.."
