Chapter 577: Chapter 558: Facing Threats

After finishing breakfast, Gu Qianxi gave her a few more reminders, still uneasy, before finally driving off.

Tong Keke, bored at home alone, went to the screening room and spent the entire morning watching movies, to the point she felt a little dizzy.

She went downstairs, planning to look for some snacks. She knew her uncle liked to stock up on her favorite treats. As she tossed a piece of marshmallow into her mouth, she suddenly heard the sound of the doorbell.

From the video monitor, Tong Keke saw the visitor at the door. Her beautiful little face instantly turned icy cold.

It was Han Yan. She had actually tracked her down directly here.

Tong Keke really found her unpleasant and truly didn’t want to deal with her.

However, Han Yan seemed unwilling to leave, repeatedly pressing the doorbell. The incessant sound was driving Tong Keke mad with irritation, so she had no choice but to go to the door.

With a tone far from friendly, she asked, "What are you doing here?"

"Keke, may I come in and sit for a moment?" Han Yan asked gently, her eyes full of hope.

"No, this is the home of my uncle and me. We don’t welcome strangers!" Tong Keke crossed her arms over her chest, her expression full of rejection.

"Alright, then I won’t come in. Could we have lunch together? I’d like to introduce you to some people—family members," Han Yan asked again, her tone still soft.

"I’m not interested in meeting anyone. Just leave!" Tong Keke didn’t want to waste her time. Since learning that Han Yan opposed her relationship with her uncle, she had decided not to acknowledge her as her mother anymore.

"I want to talk to you about you and Gu Qianxi, Keke. As your mother, I’d never harm you." Han Yan felt heartache; her daughter’s cold indifference left her feeling helpless.

"What’s there to talk about? Whatever you say, I won’t break up with my uncle." Tong Keke stated firmly.

"Keke, I’m your mother. Everything I do is for your own good. Why won’t you listen to me?" Han Yan started to grow frustrated. She felt it was her responsibility and duty to guide her daughter onto the right path.

Tong Keke laughed mockingly. "Listen to you? Why should I? You abandoned me, and now you have the nerve to come here asking me to recognize you as my mother? Right now, the only person I listen to is my uncle."

"I had my reasons back then..." Han Yan began to cry, tears streaming sorrowfully.

"I don’t want to hear your reasons. As long as you don’t interfere in my life with my uncle, I’ll repay your kindness in the future. After all, you brought me into this world and introduced me to my uncle, for which I’m grateful." Tong Keke’s face was cold as she spoke, her words leaving little room for reconciliation.

Han Yan’s expression turned deathly pale. She didn’t want repayment from Tong Keke; all she wanted was to experience the warmth of a mother-daughter bond.

"Keke, I’ve been speaking kindly and patiently to you, but you still won’t listen, will you? If I, as your mother, take more forceful measures, do you think your uncle could withstand the consequences? He would face everyone’s scrutiny. The laws of our country absolutely do not tolerate harming underage girls!" Han Yan could only invoke her motherly authority and sternly warn Tong Keke.

Tong Keke’s small face turned pale, with her tiny fists clenched tightly. If this weren’t her own mother, she might really have slapped her. To dare threaten her by using her uncle—how far out of line could she go?

"I’ll go have lunch with you, but you’re not allowed to do anything to hurt my uncle!" Tong Keke finally compromised. After all, she could only buy herself some time for the moment.

Yet when she got into Han Yan’s car, the final destination wasn’t a restaurant—it was a private hospital primarily for women.
