Chapter 548: Chapter 529: Will That Thing Happen?

Lin Banxia spotted Chu Tingting in the crowd. Her expression froze, assuming that Chu Tingting was here to make trouble again. A trace of wariness flickered across her face.

However, to Lin Banxia’s surprise, Chu Tingting didn’t seem to have any intentions of targeting her this time.

Gripping her elegant dress, Chu Tingting gracefully walked toward them. Raising the wine glass in her hand, she said to Yan Ting, "Yan Ting, although I can’t give you my blessings, meeting you has been the happiest moment of my life. Even though we can’t be lovers, I hope you won’t forget me! I won’t forget you either!"

Yan Ting’s face darkened. After listening to her words, he replied politely, "If we can still be friends, that would be great. I hope you’ll find your own happiness soon."

Chu Tingting loved hearing his voice. Even words spoken with such politeness sounded melodious to her ears.

"I hope so too!" After saying this, Chu Tingting didn’t address Lin Banxia at all and turned to leave.

Lin Banxia and Yan Ting exchanged a glance, both feeling that Chu Tingting seemed a bit strange today. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

The evening banquet was equally lively, lasting until well past nine before the guests started to leave one by one.

Lin Banxia was called over by the elderly lady for a chat.

"Banxia, you’re not too worn out, are you?" the elderly lady asked with concern.

Lin Banxia shook her head and responded with a smile, "I’m not tired. I took a nap this afternoon!"

"Good then. There’s nothing much left to do here. Have Yan Ting take you back to rest early," the elderly lady said, now deeply concerned about Lin Banxia, carefully watching over her, afraid she might overexert herself.

In that moment, Lin Banxia felt truly fortunate. Almost everyone around her showed her concern and care.

She had never experienced such warmth before. Now, she was relishing it, feeling that fate had not been unkind to her.

On the way back, Yan Ting took off his suit jacket and wrapped her petite frame entirely in it.

"Did you notice that Chu Tingting seemed a bit off today? She didn’t come over to provoke me," Lin Banxia said as Yan Ting held her by the shoulders, strolling leisurely toward the villa. She couldn’t help but bring up the topic.

Yan Ting nodded. "Yes, maybe she’s come to terms with it!"

"Let’s hope so!" Lin Banxia said, choosing to take an optimistic view.

When they returned to the villa, Yan Ting went to take a shower. Meanwhile, Lin Banxia took out her diary and looked at the date she had circled. Three more days!

The unease in Lin Banxia’s heart had long erupted. Yet, she felt that no matter what, on that day, she had to keep Yan Ting by her side—she wouldn’t let him go anywhere.

Maybe if she kept him from leaving that day, the car accident wouldn’t happen.

Lin Banxia made up her mind, though a faint sense of worry still lingered in her heart.

When Yan Ting emerged, he was wearing nothing but a bath towel, his toned and healthy physique on full display.

Lin Banxia hurriedly placed her diary back under the bed and looked up at him. "You’re done with your shower?"

"I might need to go abroad tomorrow," he said casually.

"What?" Lin Banxia was stunned by his words, her carefully laid plans thrown into disarray.

"There’s a project overseas that requires my personal attention," Yan Ting explained, drying his short, jet-black hair as he walked toward her. Seeing her shocked expression, he couldn’t help but chuckle. "What’s the matter? Why do you look like that? Don’t want me to leave?"

"Yan Ting, why do you have to go tomorrow? We just got engaged. Can’t you stay with me for a few days? Change the schedule..."

"I can’t change it. It’s already set," Yan Ting said, shaking his head.

"Why can’t it be changed? Can’t someone else go instead? Why does it have to be you?" Lin Banxia’s expression was on the verge of falling apart, her voice filled with fear and anxiety.
