Chapter 348: Chapter 349: Grandpa Still Dotes on Him

Yan Ting walked up the stairs with heavy, deliberate steps, arriving at the door of his grandfather’s study. He raised his hand and knocked.

The door opened. Old Sir Huo, draped in a coat, sat stern-faced in his chair. He glanced at Yan Ting, his sharp gaze sweeping across his face: "Who did you go see?"

"No one. Just met up with a few friends," Yan Ting answered in a calm, subdued voice.

Old Sir Huo suddenly threw a few photos from the desk drawer onto the table: "What’s going on between you and Lin Banxia? Someone took pictures of the two of you pulling and tugging at each other."

Old Sir Huo referred to "someone" without explicitly mentioning Huo Qinglin’s name. This made Yan Ting’s gaze darken instantly.

"I was only warning her, telling her not to appear in front of me," Yan Ting said indifferently as he glanced over the photos. His voice betrayed no discernible emotion.

"Why did you warn her? Has she been pestering you again?" Old Sir Huo, angered by the photos, assumed his grandson was still entangled with Lin Banxia. But hearing Yan Ting’s tone, his expression eased somewhat.

"She came to the charity gala today — as Leng Weichen’s companion," Yan Ting sneered faintly.

Old Sir Huo was visibly surprised: "How did Leng Weichen end up with her?"

"I don’t know. I just saw her there and wanted to warn her. I didn’t expect someone would photograph it and bring them straight to you. Some people really have too much time on their hands," Yan Ting retaliated coldly.

Old Sir Huo’s sharp gaze lingered on his grandson’s face before he replied evenly, "Enough with this ’some people’ talk. These photos were taken on Qinglin’s orders."

"Do you believe him, Grandpa? Do you think I have some kind of relationship with Lin Banxia?" Yan Ting let out a mocking laugh.

"Of course I don’t believe it. Lin Banxia promised me she’d never have anything to do with you again in this lifetime. I trust her to keep her word, and if she doesn’t... Hmph, she probably hasn’t realized yet what I’m capable of doing to people who fail to live up to their promises," Old Sir Huo’s tone was filled with chilling cruelty and threats.

Yan Ting’s tall frame stiffened abruptly as he took in the murderous look on his grandfather’s face. His large hand clenched instinctively.

"If there’s nothing else, go rest. Remember one thing: don’t have any connections with Lin Banxia. The farther you stay away from her, the safer she’ll be," Old Sir Huo warned one last time, his words laced with deeper meaning.

Yan Ting’s gaze flickered faintly. He suddenly felt his earlier lie had been seen through by his grandfather. Yet, his grandfather had chosen to go easy on him, merely offering symbolic reminders.

Yan Ting could clearly sense Grandpa’s painstaking efforts. How could he not? Perhaps, every time he went looking for Lin Banxia, Grandpa had known about it all along.

After Yan Ting turned and left, Old Sir Huo threw the photos into the trash bin and shook his head, letting out a sigh.

Yan Ting walked to the entrance of his villa and saw someone leaning against one of his white marble columns, smoking.

"Brother, Grandpa didn’t scold you, did he?" Huo Qinglin said, deliberately coming over to enjoy the show.

Yan Ting ignored him, his face cold, and headed toward the living room with heavy steps.

"Since you didn’t agree to my demands, I had no choice but to show Grandpa the photos," Huo Qinglin admitted without shame, fully aware of his pettiness. But he didn’t regret doing it. Seeing Yan Ting’s ice-cold expression, he knew he was angry.

"Now I understand why Lin Banxia dumped you — you don’t even deserve the basic qualifications to be called human," Yan Ting remarked with biting elegance, unfastening his suit jacket and tossing it casually onto the sofa. He walked to the dining area, opened the fridge, pulled out a bottle of water, twisted off the cap, and drank deeply.
