Exclusive Love: Pampered by the Scheming Tycoon-Chapter 24: Never Make a Deal with the Devil
Chapter 24 - 24: Never Make a Deal with the Devil
"Your grandmother's birthday banquet isn't over yet, is it? You should hurry back, don't let her worry again." Banxia didn't really want to be alone with him, so she spoke sensibly and considerately.
Huo Qinglin couldn't wait to leave, and when he heard her say this, he didn't hesitate further.
"Alright, I'll arrange for someone to take care of you as soon as possible. I'll also cover all your hospital expenses. And here, this card has five hundred thousand on it; take it for now." As he spoke, Huo Qinglin pulled out a card from inside his jacket and handed it to Banxia.
Banxia looked at him, uncertain. "Qinglin, why are you giving me money? I can't spend your money."
"Just take it. Actually, when you gave the hot water bottle to my grandmother, she started suspecting that I wasn't treating you well. I was at fault before, always neglecting these things. Now, take this card. Get whatever you want. Buy more clothes too. Being Huo Qinglin's woman, you can't afford to look shabby."
"Thank you, Qinglin. Then I'll accept it for now!" Banxia eagerly took the card. Not only would she take it, but she also planned to spend every last cent.
Huo Qinglin watched her take the card with a delighted and excited expression. A cold sneer formed in his heart: What a materialistic and vulgar woman.
Beaming just because of a bit of money? Utterly pathetic.
As soon as Huo Qinglin left, Banxia lazily propped up her leg and closed her eyes to rest.
Time quickly passed, and night fell.
Banxia woke from a nap. The sky outside the window was already pitch black. She stretched, but her gaze suddenly froze.
On the single sofa across from her hospital bed sat an elegant and distinguished silhouette, lounging casually.
The man had long legs crossed, his deep and enigmatic gaze faintly sizing her up.
Yan Ting?
Banxia couldn't believe it. This man had actually come to see her.
"When did you get here?" After her initial shock, Banxia asked him.
"I've been here for about half an hour." His deep, mellow voice reverberated throughout the hospital room.
"Then why didn't you wake me up?" Banxia was a bit annoyed. He'd had the audacity to watch her sleep for a full thirty minutes. How infuriating!
"I saw you sleeping soundly and didn't have the heart to wake you." His response was particularly gentlemanly.
But Banxia knew that this man was anything but the gentleman he appeared to be.
There was a time when people described him as the devil of the business world, one who devoured his prey without leaving even their bones behind.
Not wanting to get into pointless arguments with him, Banxia instead spoke with righteous seriousness: "I asked you here because I have something very important to discuss with you."
"What makes you think you have the right to negotiate with me?" The man's beautiful face darkened, his voice cold and mocking. He clearly disliked her pretentious tone.
Banxia was stunned, momentarily deflated. "Fine, I suppose I don't have the right. But I don't think I'm obligated to play along in your charade either."
"Let me make this clear: you're not acting for me!"
"Oh, is that so? Well, I don't feel like playing anymore. I just want to go home."
"Are you sure? Do you think you can leave this room?" His tone carried an unmistakable threat, with no trace of mercy.
Banxia glanced toward the hallway outside the hospital room. The reflection in the glass pane showed the tall, imposing figure of a man keeping watch.
"Yan Ting, what exactly are you after? I suddenly can't figure out what shared interests we even have anymore." Banxia rubbed her temples, looking bewildered.
"My goal is simple: the pear garden in your hands cannot fall into Huo Qinglin's possession."
Banxia's eyes widened. As she suspected, it all came down to the pear garden's deed.
She narrowed her eyes at him, scrutinizing his flawless face with suspicion. "You're not planning to take the deed for yourself, are you?"
"I wouldn't lower myself to that." Yan Ting's sharp brows lifted, as if genuinely disdainful of the notion.
Banxia still didn't trust his words. Tentatively, she asked, "Really? You're helping me, and it's not because of the pear garden deed?"
"If you're willing to trade the deed with me, of course, I'll take it." Yan Ting replied, his tone detached.
"I won't make a deal with the devil." The way he spoke made it sound as though he still wanted the deed. Her tone immediately turned cold and resolute.
