Chapter 64: A Deal in the Darkness

"This isn’t happening..." reading the global announcement with a hand shaking in a mixture of disbelief, wrath, resentment and a fear undetectable even to himself, another man mutters as he looks at the group of hooded figures in front of him, their demeanor filled with confidence despite the fact that they are currently in the presence of someone like him who is practically a god in the eyes of other ascenders from Earth.

"You must be thinking that the one who caused this is the target you want us to deal with, right? You can rest assured, even if he can deal with monsters beyond the limit of the second floor, he is still, nothing more than a second-floor ascender" one of the hooded figures said with a tone of absolute confidence in his voice, his words still not enough to convince the young-looking man with a sword tied to his waist.

Sighing as they thought that this should nail the deal, they then decided to share their plan, a simple one that should’ve been thought of by this client all by himself, but somehow failed to do so as the urgency of having to deal with his target clouded not only his vision, but also his thoughts immensely.

"And it’s not like we’re going to deal with him now, we have eyes on the lower floor after all, we can observe him and deduce his strength based on those observation..." the same hooded man, seemingly the leader of this group, said as he throws document to support his claims, showing the client just how detailed their information gathering network is, having vivid description of a lot of things despite some of them lacking an actual media, photos or videos, to back it up.

"The higher the floor he climbs the higher the difference between a person who just ascended there and a long-time veteran in that floor, we’re going to use this opportunity to deal with him really quick" the leader of the hooded figures said with a smile on his face, his eyes glowing with greed as he feels like the deal with this client is already secured.

"Worst case scenario, we have to wait until he is on the fifth floor to capitalize on the gap; however, if we’re lucky, we can deal with him once he ascends on the third floor, especially if he’s going to be on that city once he ascends."

The leader of the hooded group said with a confident expression on his face, the client also found his reasons valid, making him nod at this figure, said client’s eyes turning serious as now is the time to discuss the most important matter.

"So, what’s your price?" knowing that this group has never failed a single mission that they had taken before, along with the fact that all of their missions are one with extreme danger involved, the client asked with a serious look on his face, his expression making it so that even these extremely confident figures couldn’t help but gulp, as they know that one wrong thing they say right now might cost the lives of some of them.

However, despite the terror that the members of this group are feeling, their leader just sat there as he looked back on the client, not even feeling a little bit intimidated by the subtle pressure coming from him.

"We don’t need money, God Sword Augustus, what we want, you know what it is..." the leader of this hooded group said with a smile on his face, his words prompting the client to frown as he never expected that this would truly be the thing that this figure wanted.

"You know, even with my words, there’s no way those other six would allow you to enter the Great Legia..." the client pointed out with a resigned sigh, speaking of the truth that both of them knew, making the hooded figure shake his head to those words.

"I don’t need everyone’s approval, Augustus, so long as there’s a single person that vouches for me, then I will be eligible to enter as the seventh" the leader of the hooded figure said before letting out a victorious laughter, something that caught his client off guard as said client understands the implication of his words.

"Don’t tell me you..." before the young-looking man could even finish his words, his question is already answered by the leader of the hooded figures, the pride lacing his tone as if indicating that whatever it is that they are planning, it will definitely happen.

"Do you really think I will lower myself and descend to the third floor if I don’t have that item?" the leader of the hooded figures said with a smile on his face, the enigma of his words only being comprehended by the client he is discussing a deal with.

"I see, so you found that... I thought it was just a legend as well, but who would’ve guessed..." the client said with a smile on his face, now no longer hesitating to strike a deal with this figure as something just made the chances of dealing with this target a complete certainty of success.

"Very well, once you managed to deal with that brat, then I will definitely vouch for you to enter the seven!" the client said with a victorious smile on his face as in his mind he thought that he will finally deal with a problem that troubled him for years, a problem that stops him from acquiring what it is that he truly desires.

"Then, it’s a great pleasure doing business with you, God Sword Augustus" receiving the confirmation from the client, the leader of these hooded figures stood up with a smile filling his entire face, his hand reaching out to seal the deal with a handshake, which his client responded to positively.

"The pleasure is mine, Nether Lord Luke" the client said with the same smile on his face as he shakes hand with the leader of the hooded figure, the two of them feeling like this is going to be the start of a great mutually beneficial relation not only between the two of them but also between the forces they reign over as well.
