Chapter 57: An Offer of Immortality

"No... human... stop!!!" feeling the connection between its head and body gradually getting weaker as more and more of its parts are being torn apart by its enemy, the Abyssal Rot Eternal Flower exclaimed in a panicked manner while trying to stop the young man cleaving its body, spewing out another wave of that steam-like black fog from its massive mouth.

However, despite this threat, Azrael continues to press on and attack the flora’s body endlessly, merely sparing a moment from his attention as he dealt with the fog approaching him all too easily by swinging the sword in his hand, pushing majority of the fog away from its previous trajectory, only a negligible amount reaching his gigantified body and decaying parts of his skin.

This doesn’t affect his combat prowess in the very least though as he continues to cut through the massive flower’s body, the terror displayed on his enemy’s face is something that he doesn’t even concern himself about, knowing that any second now, the massive stat boost from all his skills might end.

"Wait... stop... noo... human... I will... grant you... immortality... if you... stop..." the flora tempted as it despairs, realizing that not a single one of its attacks has effect on its enemy now, hoping that this is enough for the young man to stop and buy it some time.

"Immortality?" surprised with the words coming out of the Abyssal Rot Eternal Flower’s mouth, Azrael flinched for a second, before he starts cleaving once again, trying his best to stop his laughter as he knows the moment he let it out, he will be wasting his remaining time on this form again.

"Yes... I am... The Eternal... Flower... Granting immortality... is nothing but... mere child... play to me..." the screeching sound of the flora’s voice sounds even more hurried as there’s only a minor part of its body still connected to its head, the words coming out of its mouth already a desperate attempt in hopes of its enemy just stopping for a few moments to give it a breather.

Despite its attempt to entice Azrael though, it just noticed that he continues on chipping away at the remaining connection between its body and head, its gradual, but certain approach to death scaring it so much more than when it previously found out that it can die as well.

’No... why won’t he stop chopping my body away!?’ the Eternal Flower asks itself as it watches in horror having the last couple of inches of its connection between its body being the only thing that is keeping it away from absolute death, its mind already broken, no longer having the strength to struggle for its own life.

"You know, if this was other people, they might be tempted from your offer" surprising the Eternal Flower as he stopped before he could cut the last few inches connecting its body and head, Azrael spoke, replying to its previous offer, the flora being confused as it heard the young man’s reply.

"Too bad, I’m already sort of an immortal myself" the young man then continues as he raises his sword one final time for this fight, scaring the Abyssal Rot Eternal Flower so much that for the first time in its entire life, it lets out something unfamiliar from its mouth, a scream of absolute terror, its concern of death no longer significant as given its current situation, it would rather accept eternal damnation rather than confronting this young man for even longer time than it already does.

’Lunatic...’ seeing the maniacal smile on the young man’s face as it cleaves the last piece of flesh keeping it alive, the Abyssal Rot Eternal Flower thought to itself as it allows its flower to fall down the ground, the moment of its death spelling the decay of its body as well, shriveling like an old dried corpse with the only part of its carcass keeping its freshness being its head, with the expression of absolute terror still etched in its face.

Meanwhile, just right on time, Azrael felt like his active skills already reached its time limits, his strength starting to decrease returning to its previous state as his body shrinks once again, the Abyssal Rot fog still not dispersing affecting him once again, but this time, not as great as it does when the Eternal Flower is still alive.

After just a few moments of silence, waves of happiness start coming his way as numerous notifications start popping into his vision, the floating azure screen flooding in front of him so much that he thought that it will take a fairly long while before he can read through all of these notifications, starting with a little bit of joy that makes him smile satisfied already.
