Chapter 52: Forbidden Zone Quest

"Hahaha, and just to make matters worse..." noticing the Abyssal Rot Eternal Flower seemingly moving from its previous position, with the hundred-petaled flower standing at the very top of it facing the sun, Azrael couldn’t help but mock his own luck once again, his target turning what he can only suppose as its face towards his direction.

Surprisingly, despite its titanic size, the monster moves pretty nimbly compared to other creatures of its size, only taking a few moments to turn the face of its flower towards Azrael, who shivered the moment he saw its actual appearance, not due to terror, but rather due to its beauty.

If one were to search every single living biome on Earth for what can be crowned as the most beautiful flora of all, then they would probably need to rely not on hard work, knowledge or experience but rather on sheer, absurd dumb luck, as that is just how plenty of a candidate there is for such a title.

However, no matter how beautiful those flora on Earth is or how beautiful they will ever be, there’s just no comparison when they stand in front of this gigantic flower seemingly reigning supreme over its own domain, the asymmetrical, but mysteriously still perfectly arranged order of its petals as it spreads out from its core all the way down to its stem will make everyone marvel in its beauty, a beauty that will make them think that they are looking at the universe itself through it.

This peculiar charm that this flora has is something so effective that even Azrael who prides himself that his mental fortitude is probably the highest among all of the ascenders even including the ones who are on a higher floor than him, falls into its charms, rendering his body useless as he just stood there like a log, all while a black fog coming out of the flower already starts inching its way towards him.

Finally realizing that he had fallen into a trap after a few moments of being mesmerized on the spot, the young man snaps out of his reverie as he swung the sword in his hand, flinging whatever it is that is coming his way, assuming that this black fog is the Abyssal Rot that those humans turned into amalgam are talking about.

"Tsk tsk tsk, quite the impatient fellow, aren’t you?" creating distance between him and the Abyssal Rot Eternal Flower, Azrael leaps up and lands himself on a tall tree just so he can take a better look of this monster’s entirety, making him feel such child-like wonder as despite the terrifying nature of this monster, its appearance is still something that is quite comical, its body like a tulip sprouting from the ground rather than a vine like a rose.

The only difference between them being the fact that it is towering more than dozens of meters tall, with the flower on top of it being the only attractive part as its stem, or at this rate, its body, is made up of peculiar, flesh-like, pulsing substance making even a veteran of the brutal battlefield like Azrael feel like something so grotesque shouldn’t be allowed to exist in nature.

"That’s what the quest is all about anyways, so let me figure out what sort of thins makes this big fat target go" he mutters to himself with a smile on his face, the very same smile he often displays whenever he finds himself in quite the pinch, a smile filled with the maniacal intent to battle, not in an efficient and trained way but rather in a brutal, eye for an eye way trading damage with his opponent.

Despite the look on his face though, he is still pretty much maintaining his own rationale really well, his eyes darting around in an attempt to find weak spots he can exploit, making him sigh as he realizes that this flower has a nigh impregnable defense possibly even greater than the Fortress Golem in the first floor.

"As expected of an Epic Monster" he thought to himself in an amused grin despite worrying for a bit, not due to this monster but still something related, thinking of something completely outside this fight.

’If a monster this strong is not even the boss of the second floor, then how strong is that boss, and worse than that, how strong is the guardian of this floor’s greatest treasure?’ he wonders to himself as he starts leaping from tree to tree trying to avoid the observation of this Abyssal Rot Eternal Flower, this being quite effective as the monster can only turn around so much before its body starts twisting until it can’t anymore, forcing it to twist back and losing vision of him in the process.

"This is definitely going to be a lengthy fight" Azrael mutters as he raises the sword he is wielding, bringing it right above him as its sharp end points towards the heavens, his posture rooted on the ground prepared to unleash a powerful strike as he takes into his lungs the life force filled air in the surrounding, empowering his muscles as he swings his sword down.

Exhaling while he does the action, Azrael felt that he is somehow even stronger than what his stats shows, attributing it to the absurd amount of life force for now as he looks at the crimson arc travelling towards the monster at a speed so absurd that even this gigantic flora, clearly powerful beyond the limits of the second floor, failed to notice it in time.

Feeling the arc darker than its prided Abyssal Rot digging through its body, the flower let out a shrill, terror-inducing screech that shocked the young man quite fairly as he just stood there, feeling warm, crimson liquid flowing out of his orifices, something that just made his smile even brighter than instilling fear on him.

"Hahaha, this fucking bastard is quite the problematic hunt..." he said as he prepares to send in another attack once again, the Evil Fang Sword in his hand shivering in excitement as it starts feeling the overwhelming vitality contained within the body of the Abyssal Rot Eternal Flower.
