Evolving Infinitely From An E-Class Hero-Chapter 68: Count Down To Destruction
It landed on eight long, metallic like legs, shiny black and segmented, twice the size of a tank. Its body was bulbous, covered in red veins and dozens of eyes blinking on its face and it’s mandibles dripped acid that immediately sizzled upon contact with the floor, hissing as it burned through it.
Another Calamity Creature.
This one was spider like, with eight limbs and had a much more harder outer layer than the other one.
Lady Phoenix’s heart dropped. "There’s two?..."
The Calamity Creature hissed as it clicked its fangs together in a disturbing rhythm.
Crrrr!
It crouched, ready to pounce on its new found target.
She whooshed back a step, her eyes darting back and fought between both Calamity Creatures.
"... That explains how you killed so many people under thirty minutes..."
"... This just got complicated..."
Grrr!
She flapped her wings hard as she dodged and evaded the slashing attacks of the new Calamity Creature.

ISA Headquarters, Sector A.
Call Center.
The atmosphere was still and the breathable air was hot with tension and silence.
President Viola Travis stood before the central physical display monitor, her face shone only by the flickering map of the Whistling Derrick.
Many red dots stood still across the deck of the cruiser ship, representing fallen agents. Too many of them to count by just looking at them, they were all gone way too fast.
No response from Agent James Clark. No signal form the cruiser — Whistling Derrick.
"Still no communication?" She asked with a low voice.
Dr. Holtz folded his arms and frowned deeply. "Nothing ma’am. The electromagnetic interference from the storm or the creatures themselves is jamming virtually everything in this mission..."
She turned towards The Apostle who sat still and quiet in his chair, also watching the map lay out of the cruiser.
"I need a worst case protocol," President Viola said. "Is there a chance Lady Phoenix would survive a full strike? From the intercontinental ballistic missiles? Enough to obliterate the ship and everything in it?"
The Apostle hesitated but still kept his usual calm composure. "She’s durable, fast and her physical attributes makes her nearly invulnerable... But even she has her limits..."
"If caught in the center of the explosion... She might not make it... Not to mention she has a lower ranked hero by her side in the name of Liquid Crystal..."
"He’s right Your Excellency... She very well would not survive the blast... And we cannot afford to loose an S-Class hero of her caliber... "
Dr. Holtz interjected.
President Viola Travis stroked her chin softly and pressed her lips tightly together into a straight line as her mind raced.
"Its the life of an S-Class hero or the lives of the innocent civilians on the mainland of Sector C..." She said.
"But it’s possible?"
Holtz sighed. "Barely..."
President Viola took over a minute staring at the map on the huge screen as she engaged in a intellectual battle with herself.
"How long till the ship touches down at the shores of Sector C?" She asked.
"... At it current speed... 30 minutes ma’am" The Apostle replied.
She immediately shut her eyes in disbelief, it was an incredibly harsh and hostile situation.
*Grit.
She clenched her jaw and folded her arms. "There’s no time..."
"Begin the lauch sequence for the intercontinental ballistic missiles..."
"Destination: The Whistling Derrick cruiser"
"Coordinates are:"
"Latitude: 6.3201° N"
"Longitude: -2.4115° W!!!"
"Yes ma’am!" The Apostle began tapping away on his keyboard almost immediately.
"Forgive me Sonia..."

"Ohhh... She actually ordered the ballistic missiles and they’re on their way to the cruiser..."
"Huh..."
"It’s nice to see that The President of the ISA Viola Travis values the civilians lives more than that of an S-Class hero..."
I stood up from the edge of the roof and glanced ahead towards the direction I was aiming to blast towards.
In other to get stronger I needed to face more adversity. And just like before with the first Calamity Creature, I had been keeping tabs on heroic situations by going through the ISA database. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Anything I could find, any crime, any monster appearance. I took care of it swiftly and effectively before the arrival of the designated hero.
I reported my heroic efforts with the excuse of ’I was in the area’ so I could get the Units to use and assist with the bills at home— A hero’s gotta eat.
Since my encounter with Golden Guardian, I had gotten significantly stronger and leveled up more. And I was hungry for more.
Keeping tabs on the present Calamity Creature case was a breeze, but I initially thought Lady Phoenix and her subordinate would take of the situation swiftly because of her status.
But as it turns out, the ship is less than 30 minutes from the coastline and they have lost all communication with the heroes.
Two things are at play here...
One.
Communication got scrambled because of the rain and the harsh environment of the Atlantic Ocean.
Or.
Two.
The Calamity Creature killed both the task force team and the heroes.
And now their was a series of ballistic missiles heading that way aiming to obliterate any and everything. Regardless of if the heroes are still alive or much worse the survivors.
Tch!
Sector C is a long distance away from my current location, but I still have to try.
"Forever Core..."
Tti-ring.
[Vessel...]
"How long would it take the intercontinental ballistic missiles to reach the coordinates of the Whistling Derrick?"
Tti-ring.
[Considering the location of the cruiser and the speed at which the missiles are traveling...]
[The Intercontinental ballistic missiles would make impact in less than 15 minutes...]
"Eeek!"
"So I have less than 15 minutes to intercept the missiles before they hit?!!"
Tti-ring.
[You have exactly 14 minutes and 23 seconds... Vessel]
"What is this suddenly pressure..."
"Tch! I still have to try... Fro the sake of the potential survivors..."
"Forever Core... How many missiles are there in total?"
Tti-ring.
[Sum total of the Intercontinental ballistic missiles comes up to...]
[Five missiles...]
[Vessel...]
"Alright..."
"In that case..."
"Initiate..."
