Chapter 107: No Limiting

Crackle!

Crackle!

Crackle!

The air around me crackled with energy as the Forever Armor wrapped around my body like a second skin.

The golden and black nanites weaving seamlessly across my form like a spreading virus.

The suit hummed faintly with that familiar symphony of power and precision.

My pupils shone gold as the Forever Core’s system rippled through my point of view.

The Calamity Creature emerged from the dusty atmosphere, it was huge. Almost as huge as the apartment building, towering over the landscape, it’s body a grotesque joining of sinew, scale and bone, all wrapped with that pale blue skin.

Spikes pointed towards the sky from its back, each dripping with venom that sizzled as it hit the ground.

It had a huge beady eyes glowing with the crimson color, locking on to me with killing intent.

It opened its jaws, revealing rows and rows of serrated teeth, and a guttural roar shook the air, sending pebbles and stone skittering across the street.

Glasses around the neighborhood shattered.

My lips parted into a grim smile, "Big guy huh? Tch! A giant just means a huge target!"

Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!.

The creature lunged, it massive claws raking through the air, cutting power lines and therefore erupting the entire surrounding with sparks of electricity.

I side stepped.

Tti-ring.

[Active Skill: Flash Step]

The claws missing me by mere inches, even with its size, the creature was undeniably fast.

I leaped into the air, trying to transition into my counter. Soaring towards the beast.

My fist, encased in the protection of the gleaming Forever Armor, connected with the creature’s flank.

Boom!

The impact resounding like a clap of heavenly thunder.

The beast staggered, it’s scales cracking under the blow, but it recovered with an alarming speed, swinging a spiked tail towards me.

I ducked, rolling across the scorched ground as the tail smashed into a building, shattering it and bringing down to rubble— a cloud of debris rose to the air instantly.

The creature was fast, too fast for something it’s size.

My mind raced, analyzing it movements and searching for weak points which I could exploit.

It wasn’t just a made of brute strength, it was calculative, adapting.

Swish!

It fainted with a claw swipe, then snapped its jaws forward, aiming to crush me with a single bite.

"Not today!" I muttered.

I activated the armors rocket boosters and the nanites reconfigured to form thrusters along my back.

"Come out..."

I shot upward, narrowly avoiding the snapping jaws, and landed on the creature’s back. The beast thrashed, trying to dislodge me, but the armor’s grip was no match.

I furrowed my eyebrows, whatever creature that exists in this planet that has a vertebrae would always be compromised if something were to happen to that section of the body.

"Therefore..."

"Skill: Kinetic Shockwave"

Tti-ring.

[Active Skill: Kinetic Shockwave]

Bam!

Bam!

Bam!

Bam!

Bam!

I drove my fist into the beasts spine, each blow powered by the kinetic energy release gathered by the previous blow.

Scales shattered, revealing pulsing, ichor soaked flesh beneath.

Shrreeeeeeeeeekkkkkkkkkkkkk!

The creature howled in pain, a sound that vibrated through my bones and twisting it’s body in an impossible arc, forcing me to leap clear.

Bam!

I hit the ground in a crouch, dust rising around me, as the creatures eyes narrowed, studying me.

Learning.

I could see it in the way it circled now, no longer charging blindly.

It tested me with quick probing strikes.

Shiom.

Shiom.

Shiom.

Shiom.

A claw here and there.

A flick of its massive tail here.

Gauging my reactions.

I parried each attack, the armor absorbing the impacts with a faint ripple of energy

But the Calamity Creature was relentless, its stamina seemingly had no limits.

Shiom!

A claw grazed my arm, not breaching the armor but sending me skidding back a couple meters, my boots carving parallel trenches in the ground.

"Clever Bastard," I said, wiping a bead of sweat from my brow.

The creature was still causing damage to the surrounding and I still hadn’t landed a decisive blow yet.

I needed to end this, but the creature wasn’t giving me an opening.

The beast reared back, it’s chest inflating as it drew in a massive breath.

My eyes widened, "Oh, hell no!" I sprinted to the side as the creature unleashed a torrent of corrosive substance, a green black wave that melted the asphalt where he’d stood moments before.

The air hissed with toxic fumes and the Forever Armor erected a mask to protect me from the deadly toxins.

Swish!

I circled wide, using the dust cloud as a form of cover and charged to the creatures flank.

This time, I aimed low, targeting one of its massive legs.

The armor’s nanites reconfigured my right arm into a blade, its edge vibrating with golden energy at a molecular level.

Tti-ring.

[Active Equipment: Forever Daggers]

Swish!

I slashed, the blade biting deep into the creatures tendon.

Purple ichor sprayed and the beasts stumbled, it’s roar tinged with pain.

I pressed on with the advantage I created for myself, hacking at the same leg, each strike precise and brutal.

The creature’s intelligence worked against it now, it hesitated, unsure whether to protect its wound or counterattack.

That hesitation was all I needed. I vaulted on to the creature’s side, climbing towards its head.

Gnarl!

The beast snapped at me with malicious intent, but I was way too close and way too fast.

I reached its neck and drove my blade into a gap between its scale.

The creature bucked wildly, nearly throwing him off, but I held firm, twisting the blade deeper and thus purple ish fluid gushed, coating my armor.

But it didn’t yield.

Instead, it adapted again, sprouting bony protrusions around the wound to shield it.

"Tch!!!!"

I cursed under my breath.

"You have got to be kidding me..." The creature was adaptive mid fight, it’s body reshaping to counter my attacks. I leaped clear as the beast swung its head, narrowly avoiding a spike that shot from its neck like a harpoon.

I landed hard, the impact jarring my knees even through the armor.

The creature’s eyes gleamed with something akin to amusement, as if it knew it was wearing me down.

It began to toy with me, feinting attacks only to pull back, forcing me to burn energy dodging and countering. It swiped at me lazily, then snapped its jaws just out of reach, each move designed to stress me.

I simply snickered at its reactions, it was trying to wear my meta energy. But little does it know that I don’t have a limit and my energy knows no boundaries. So, theoretically I can keep fighting forever if I wanted to.

"Alright..." I growled, planting a feet into the ground. "You want to play games? Let’s finish this..." I raised arms, the armor surged with energy. The golden and black surface pulsed, light rippling across it like liquid flame.

The creature paused, its eyes narrowing as it sensed the shift in my demeanor.

For the first time since it destroyed my apartment building, it looked uncertain.

The creature took a step back as it finally registered the level of danger it found itself in.

"Supreme Skill..."

"..."

I was about to activate my Supreme Skill: Ultra-Canon Incinerate — MAX. When something happened.

Tti-ring.

[Incoming Call: The Apostle...]

[Accept?]

[>Yes

[>No]

"Huh?" I gasped as I looked at the notification.

Why would he be calling me at this time? And knowing The Apostle for who he is, he wouldn’t contact me if it wasn’t something that needed my urgent attention that instant.

I shot back, glancing at where I left my Mom, she had followed the other civilians to a safe location as reported by one of my Tactical Swarm Drones — keeping inch close tabs on her.

I lowered my arms and starred at the notification for a few more seconds, before—

"Yes..."

Tti-ring.

[Ongoing Call: The Apostle...]

["I suppose you are of utmost surprise to call at a time like this..."]

"Tch! Cut to the chase... It’s getting away!"

["Ha! Exactly why I’m calling... Let it!"]

"Huh?!"

["You heard me right, Bionic. Let the Calamity Creature go!"]

I furrowed my brows and stiffened my posture as I watched the creature turn its back and began tapping away in retreat.

"Unfortunately I will eliminate this Calamity Creature unless you give me a tangible reason not to... I don’t take orders from you, I don’t take orders from no one... And you know I’m capable of beating you..."

[" Very childish to bring that up Reno... We will have our rematch! As of this moment, the Calamity Creature is retreating so chances are it’ll lead us straight to its place of origin... Where it came from... Who it came from..."]

"Bakuzan..."

["Bakuzan..."]

We both said the name in unison.

It was a smart move, but who’s to say that the creature would lead us to exactly where we needed to be.

"Alright..."
