Chapter 7: Ch-7: Magic Mechanic

As Victor headed toward the crafting room, he could see more than half of the players anxiously huddled together, waiting for someone to reach Level 20.

Snap.

Everyone’s head turned in his direction, and a look of fear appeared in their eyes as they remembered how casually he had killed a person.

Victor paid them no attention and kept walking.

After walking for a few minutes, he reached the production area where the crafting rooms were located. He could already see a few NPCs there crafting swords, armor, and guns for the Black Church.

He walked past them and headed toward one of the private rooms, which could only be accessed by paying a premium.

The other craftsmen paused their work momentarily and raised their eyebrows when they saw Victor entering the room.

It was common knowledge that most craftsmen were weaker in terms of combat and relied solely on their creations to fight, or, as most did, commissioned others who were adept at fighting to gather materials for them. The Black Church followed a similar pattern. Even those in large guilds were assigned powerful members for their protection.

Unlike Victor, who could increase all of his stats without concern, the others involved in production work allocated most of their stat points to Dexterity, Intelligence, and Mana, which were essential for improving their skills and crafting higher-rank items. So naturally, they were weak in combat.

"At least it’s worth the price," Victor mumbled as his eyes swept across the entire room.

The room was filled with high-tech equipment for creating modern weapons, along with a large smithy to forge magic-based weapons like swords and spears.

There were more than enough materials to create hundreds of weapons, all provided by the management after payment. Someone might ask why—were they generous? No, that was not the case, because when crafting items, the success rate was only 30%, and usually 70% of the materials were wasted.

"Time to get to work," Victor mumbled as he took out the two blueprints. As he willed it, the two blueprints vanished into thin air, and two notifications instantly appeared on his retina.

[You have learned the crafting method of ’Basic Sword’]

[You have learned the crafting method of ’Handgun’]

A torrent of information rushed into his brain, causing him to blank out for a moment before regaining his composure.

"Sigh, blueprints are really the easiest way to acquire crafting knowledge," Victor muttered.

Blueprints allowed one to instantly learn the crafting method of an item; otherwise, the only way to learn was manually, which took considerable time and effort.

The grades differed according to the rank of the items the blueprint represented. The two blueprints he had just used were of the lowest grade.

Victor then grabbed the required materials and walked toward the large crafting table.

One minute later...

[You have crafted a Handgun]

[You have crafted a Basic Sword]

[You have received 30 experience points]

[You have received 35 experience points]

-------------

After few failures Victor finally managed to craft the two items. Then another notification popped on his retina.

[Ding Dong]

[You have comeptled the Quest : Magic Mechanic]

[You have received the skill Creation Tab]

-------------------

Magic Mechanic (SS Rank)

The only bloodline which allows to create weapons by combining technology with magic

--------------

Creation Tab

Rank: SS

Description: Allows the user to combine blueprints of tech based and magic weapon and create a new kind of weapon. Requires experience points to create new wepaons or upgrade existing ones.

----------

Hiss

Victor sucked in a deep breath as he read the description of the new bloodline he had obtained, and for a moment his jaw hung loose.

"Holy shit... though I suspected it, I never thought I would actually get this... aren’t humans not supposed to possess this bloodline?" Victor screamed internally. From what he knew, no human possessed such a bloodline, and humans had to purchase these kinds of weapons from other races. These weapons were among the most powerful and rarest in existence.

The shock was not over as another row of text appeared on his retina

.

[You have received ’The Mech Shop’]

Victor’s eyes shrank to the size of pinpricks when he read the text and rubbed them in disbelief. If Magitech was superior to ordinary magical or technology-based weapons, then Mechs were the pinnacle of Magitech. In fact, most powerful civilizations used these kinds of weapons even for their cannon fodder.

Victor took a deep breath and opened the shop, and his eyes gleamed as he saw rows of Mech blueprints available for purchase. He even saw Mechs that had never existed before, which could easily annihilate the top-tier Mech armies used by the elites of many civilizations.

"Let’s see which one I can use to immediately equip my soldiers with after I return," Victor mumbled as he browsed through the shop, his lips twitching when he saw that all of them cost millions and even billions of EXP points. He stopped when he finally found one.

------[Mech shop]

Long Sword Knight Mech Blueprint

Unlock Cost: 25,000 exp points

Rank: Common

-----

Don’t look down on its rank. Even though it’s common, it could easily rival soldiers equipped with items one or two ranks above it. That’s how broken Mechs are.

Another thing about Mechs is that they allow non-Warlocks to use their own skills through the Mech. For example, the Long Sword Knight Mech allows a Knight to use his original sword-related skills while operating the Mech, and the Mech enhances those skills.

"Sigh, the items needed to create them and equip them to soldiers... would completely drain the wallet," Victor mumbled, then smirked. "But I have a 100% drop rate."

"Let’s keep grinding; there’s still one week left until the opportunity to escape presents itself," Victor muttered.

One week later.

Victor looked at his new stats in satisfaction, as his chances of escape had increased drastically.

Victor looked at his new stats and skills, which he had upgraded by accumulating experience points through grinding monsters and crafting items.

Knock. Knock.

Victor frowned, walked away from his workbench, and opened the door, only to see a grunt from the Black Church looking at him.

"All recruits are to gather at the training grounds. The Captain has summoned all of you." Without giving Victor any chance to respond, the grunt moved on to the next recruit and repeated the same message.

"Huff... about time." Victor took a deep breath to calm his nerves as the day had finally arrived.

A few minutes later, Victor arrived at the training grounds, which were packed with players. He quietly stood in a corner of the area.

Victor could see that the players here were much different from before. They had all shed their naivety, and he could see the wariness in their eyes as they looked at one another. Victor also noticed that many of their mental states had deteriorated, with traces of madness beginning to surface.

Step. Step.

Everyone’s pupils constricted when they felt an overwhelming aura approaching along with the sound of footsteps, and a middle-aged man arrived before them.
