Victor looked at the cost and nodded. Then he left his room and went towards the smithy.
Clang! Clang!
Compared to a normal smithy, the smithies belonging to nobles were much more advanced and cleaner. He looked at the few dozen blacksmiths who were hammering hot metal with intense focus.
"Young Lord Victor, I am Smith, the head blacksmith. Do you need something?" a plain-looking middle-aged man hurriedly walked towards Victor when he saw him entering the smithy and bowed.
"At ease," Victor said calmly, looking at the man’s nervous expression, and replied, "I came to use the smithy."
"What? You want to use the smithy?" Smith looked at Victor in disbelief.
"Is there a problem? Am I not allowed here?" Victor asked in an amused tone
.
"No, no, of course not, Young Lord," Smith hurriedly said. How dare he, a commoner, say no to a lord?
The reason for his surprise was that most lords looked down on work like blacksmithing and farming and thought these jobs were beneath nobles and meant only for commoners. So he was surprised. Unless they were extremely talented or it would greatly benefit their territory, nobles would never engage in such work.
Victor walked towards a workstation and waved his hand.
Thud.
A small mountain of obsidian appeared out of thin air, black in color and glowing purple, and the sound of it hitting the ground caught everyone’s attention who were focused on their work.
"Huh, isn’t that Lord Victor? Did he bring those ores?"
"Looks like it. I heard he awakened the Inventory Warlock skill as well."
"That’s great, not only is he a Warlock, but he also promoted this place to the level of a city."
"Hey, does anyone recognize the ore? I have never seen this before."
"No idea, I have never seen a glowing metal before."
The blacksmiths were first surprised upon seeing Victor and then started pointing at the obsidian.
Smith, who was frowning at the unfamiliar ore, suddenly had his eyes constrict and immediately pulled out a book and started flipping through it. His pupils constricted when he saw the familiar picture in the book, and his voice cracked, "O-Obsidian!"
"Lord Victor, are these really obsidian?" Smith asked with a flushed face.
"Oh, you recognized them?" Victor was a bit surprised and then nodded his head and replied, "Yes, these are obsidian."
Smith’s jaw dropped to the ground upon hearing how casually Victor answered his question.
The other blacksmiths were startled when they heard Smith, but upon hearing Victor’s confirmation, their breathing became heavy as they looked at the obsidian with heated eyes.
Victor did not think that their reaction was exaggerated. Blacksmiths who worked with metals their entire lives dreamed of working with obsidian at least once in their lifetime, but very few even got to catch a glimpse of the rarest metal.
Gulp.
Smith swallowed hard and looked at Victor and said carefully, with hope, "Young Master Victor, can I touch them?"
"Sure, you all can actually, but don’t let anyone find out I have obsidian with me for the time being," Victor said calmly. He would not have shown the obsidian if he had not checked that they had 100% loyalty to him. He knew some lords—if they learned Victor had so much obsidian—they might directly attack his territory or force him to sell some. For the time being, he had no intention of doing so unless he secured a steady supply of obsidian.
"Don’t worry, you can trust us, Lord Victor," Smith said as he patted his chest. The others also nodded in agreement and ran towards the obsidian and started to caress it as if the ore were their lovers, which caused Victor to chuckle in amusement.
Victor waved his hand, and 100 kg of obsidian vanished and arrived inside his inventory, and he walked towards a workstation.
Then he started the furnace and increased the heat to the highest degree possible, which was close to 10,000 degrees Celsius.
Then he poured all the obsidian ore into the furnace, which gradually started to melt. Victor then began creating the smelter according to the blueprint he had acquired.
Clang! Clang!
After many hours, Victor stood before a huge cylindrical structure.
[Ding Dong]
[You have crafted the Low Grade Magi Steel Smelter]
The other blacksmiths looked at the structure with confusion on their faces.
"What did the Lord create?"
"Why are you asking me? How would I know?"
Smith, the head blacksmith, rubbed his chin and frowned as he looked at the cylindrical structure. "What’s the purpose of this? Judging by its appearance and the crafting process I saw, it seems like a smelter."
Victor then walked towards the smelter, and his hand brushed against a small button, which he pressed.
Shing.
Instantly, two large openings appeared—one at the top of the smelter and another at the bottom. The top of the smelter started absorbing mana from the surroundings at an insane speed.
"What—this thing is absorbing mana?" Smith was shocked, but the next moment he saw Victor toss about a hundred monster cores and 100 kg of obsidian into the opening at the bottom.
Shing! Shing!
The smelter started to vibrate, and the sound of something being crushed to bits echoed from within.
After about a minute, the smelter stopped, and Victor walked forward and retrieved a large chunk of metal the size of his fist. The other blacksmiths also leaned forward and saw a silvery metal with a white hue in Victor’s hands.
"This... amount of mana..." Smith, who was closest to Victor, had his pupils tremble when he felt the dense mana contained within the silver metal. He had seen top metals—even the obsidian he had just seen did not have the amount of mana the silver metal in Victor’s hand contained. It was like comparing a lake to a puddle.
"Lord Victor, what kind of metal is this?" Smith asked, swallowing hard.
"Hmm, this is a new metal I discovered by accident and named it Magisteel," Victor said nonchalantly.
"Discovered by accident?!" Smith felt dizzy and felt like his whole life had been in vain and stared blankly at the sky.
