Evolution Online: Building a Kingdom with 100\% drop rate-Chapter 10: Ch-: Dunegon
Meanwhile, as soon as Victor entered the small cave, a grunt of the Black Church stepped out from his hiding place.
"That’s a dungeon. How come we didn’t discover it?" the grunt said in puzzlement.
He had managed to see Victor defeat the other players with the Black Lightning Bullet and wondered what kind of skill that was and whether there were monsters that even dropped such a powerful skill. All the recruits they had brought were Level 1, and they had checked that they had no skills to begin with, so the only conclusion was that he had obtained a skill while hunting.
"He must have gotten some kind of map to this dungeon along with the skill, which probably has a very low drop rate—maybe even less than 1%. Lucky bastard," the grunt clicked his tongue as he looked at the hole.
The grunt had easily spotted Victor’s faint tracks and came to this place in stealth.
Honestly, he should have already reported this, but the grunt was overcome by greed as he licked his lips. "There must be some kind of treasure in this undiscovered dungeon. I’ll kill him and take his skill as well."
He was not worried about the power of the skill, as he assumed the player was too low-level compared to him.
Whoosh.
Next, he stepped forward and was also sucked inside.
---
Victor could barely contain his excitement as he clenched his fists eagerly.
[Ding Dong]
[Number of participants has reached the required number: 2/2]
[Boss room quest has been unlocked]
[Quest: Thousand Faces]
[Task: ????]
[Reward: ????]
Victor knew the condition to gain access to the boss room. He had already noticed the grunt and purposely lured him inside to activate the quest.
He looked at the quest and smirked. Even though the quest and reward were completely unknown to him, the memories from his past life surfaced in his mind. He had once stumbled upon a very high-ranked dungeon and learned that this hidden dungeon contained a highly useful item. He had returned to this place years later to obtain that item, which was one of the reasons he had never been caught while stealing.
---
The deeper the grunt ventured, the more uneasy he felt. Never had he imagined that such a vast dungeon could exist right under their noses.
As he turned another corner, a short skeleton launched an arrow toward him once again.
"Scree!"
A piercing scream echoed through the cave.
The grunt jumped back, instinctively hurling a black cube.
A massive serpent emerged, coiling defensively in front of him.
Boom!
The skeleton, weighing barely a kilogram, was flung aside, landing limp and motionless.
The grunt’s expression twisted with rage.
"Use your venom, melt it!"
"Chaaaar!"
The three-meter-tall serpent raised its head and unleashed a barrage of venom spray toward the skeleton.
A pungent stench filled the air; even inhaling a small amount would cause dizziness.
"Above you!" the grunt suddenly shouted as he felt a chill run down his spine from above.
"Shhk!"
Before he could react, Victor had already appeared behind him and directly launched a Black Bullet toward him, which struck his right side and exploded instantly.
"Looks like I was being too cautious," Victor thought as he saw how easily he overwhelmed him. He had directly disabled his dominant arm.
"Argh! Kill him!"
The grunt shouted at the serpent, which immediately lunged at Victor with its fangs.
"Damn, what is this skill? I thought it was only effective against those weak low-level recruits," the grunt thought grimly and reined in his greed a little as he looked at Victor with hatred.
Seeing the serpent closing in, Victor was not panicked at all but remained calm, which sent a wave of unease through the grunt.
As soon as it neared him, Victor directly grabbed its mouth and forcibly clamped it shut.
Rip—!
With a harsh tearing sound, Victor grabbed the serpent and lifted it upward. He then ripped it cleanly in half with his bare hands from its mouth. Brilliant red blood splashed across the ground. He casually tossed one half aside, then dug into what remained of the other half’s body. He could feel it twitch, so he launched a Black Bullet at both halves, and a strangely enticing aroma spread through the air.
The grunt watched his rough, almost savage movements in silence, his expression growing increasingly fearful.
"Wait—" he was about to say something, but Victor gave him no time to spare and directly launched a Black Bullet toward his heart, and his chest exploded upon contact.
A few minutes later.
He carried the corpse of the grunt with him and then brought out a dagger from his inventory.
Then, without changing his expression, he plunged it into the face of the corpse and peeled off the skin. If someone with a weak heart saw this, they would faint easily.
Thirty minutes later.
He had completely carved out the grunt’s face, and just as he finished, he brought it toward a stone wall.
Rumble.
"This is it... the staircase?" Victor mumbled as he stared at the staircase before him, which had just appeared.
"Looks like it... and it looks fairly old. It’s probably been many years since someone last used this staircase," Victor thought as he looked at the stairs leading down.
Soon, he began descending the staircase slowly.
"This sort of reminds me of the dungeons I explored in my last life," Victor suddenly recalled his first experience inside a dungeon and its long staircases.
Several minutes later, he eventually reached the end of the staircase.
After exiting the staircase, he entered an underground hallway, and at the end of this hallway, there was a massive gate with a complex design on it.
"This place is..." Victor’s eyes widened when he saw the scene before him, as the giant doors and the eerie aura they emanated reminded him of a boss room from a video game! Even though he had seen it once in his last life, he was still awestruck.
Victor then brought out a human mask and walked in front of the gate, and a beam of red light scanned the mask.
Creak.
The massive doors slowly opened. Victor took a deep breath and walked inside. As soon as he stepped in, the door behind him closed.
