Evolution begins with an ant colony-Chapter 338 Showcase Your Swordsmanship
In the stands, amidst the roar of the crowd, a lone figure watched the unfolding scene with a predatory glint in her eyes. A woman wearing a red and white outfit with gold trimmings and decorated with golden crosses sat stiffly. Her black hair flowed down her back, and her most striking feature was her blazing red eyes.
She observed Akun, now facing off against the imposing knight captain, a silent murmur escaping her lips. "Just as I suspected," she muttered, her voice laced with disdain. "The heretic seeks an alliance with the royal guard, hoping for legitimacy amongst these foolish humans."
A sense of urgency flickered across her crimson gaze. "Captain Thorne needs to be informed," she said to herself, she then added. "This stain upon the land must be purged tonight."

With a swift movement, she rose to her feet, her hand already reaching for a hidden dagger strapped to her thigh. But before she could dissappear back into the crowd, a sudden shift in the arena caught her attention.
Akun, as if sensing a flicker in the crowd, turned his head ever so slightly. His gaze, sharp and piercing, locked onto hers for a fleeting moment. Despite the distance, a small smile appeard on his lips before returning his focus to the knight captain.
The woman in red narrowed her eyes, a flicker of surprise momentarily interrupting her steeled resolve. "He sensed me?" she hissed, disbelief tinging her voice. "Even from all the way up here? No matter. He will be eradicated soon reguadless." She then proceed to slowly make her way out of the arena, on her way to notify the captain of the holy inquisitors of her findings.
Akun watched as the woman proceeded to make her way out of the arena. His thoughts raced, "That woman just now was a member of the holy inquisitors. That look in her eyes made it obvious that she is after me. It appears that the goddess has already made her move."
The booming voice of Sir Cedric filled the arena, snapping Akun out of his thoughts. "Sir Cedric Ironheart, at your service," the knight captain declared, his voice laced with a mixture of respect and caution.
Akun acknowledged the introduction with a curt nod. "Sir Cedric," he echoed, his voice devoid of emotion. "A fitting name for a knight." He paused for a moment, his gaze flickering across the knight captain's form. "Tell me, Sir Cedric," he asked, his voice taking on a slightly conversational tone, "are you proud of your swordsmanship?"
Sir Cedric, caught off guard by the unexpected question, puffed out his chest slightly. "Indeed, I am," he stated firmly. He had honed his skills for years, becoming one of the most respected swordsmen in the Empire.
Akun quirked an eyebrow. "Oh, really?" he replied, a hint of amusement creeping into his voice. Before Sir Cedric could elaborate, the arena announcer, sensing the lull in the action, bellowed, "Let the duel commence!"
Akun raised a hand, silencing the announcer mid-sentence. "Hold, please," he interjected. "There's a little condition I'd like to propose before we begin." He turned his gaze back towards Sir Cedric, a predatory glint flickering in his purple eyes. "You mentioned being proud of your swordsmanship," he began, his voice dropping to a low rumble.
"I, for one, would love to witness the full extent of this prowess you boast about."
Sir Cedric, a bead of sweat forming on his brow, forced a smile. The pressure of the situation was starting to weigh heavily on him. "Of course," he stammered, "I'd be happy to show you my skills. However, one must be mindful of the crowd's safety. We wouldn't want to put anyone at risk during a mere exhibition duel between a dragon and a knight, would we?"
Akun's smile vanished, replaced by a cold stare that sent shivers down the knight captain's spine. "What if," he said, his voice dripping with cold intensity, "there was no risk to the crowd?"
Confusion etched itself onto Sir Cedric's face. "What do you mean?" he stammered, his voice barely a whisper.
King Nevi, too, leaned forward in his seat, his brow furrowed in deep thought. Akun's words held an underlying threat, a hint of something unsettling. Experience more on novelbuddy
Before anyone could utter another word, Akun's purple eyes flared with an intense light. A surge of mana, potent and visible, pulsed from his body. With a flick of his finger, a wave of aspect power erupted outwards, solidifying into a shimmering barrier that encompassed the entire arena.
The crowd gasped in collective awe as the purple energy solidified, forming a dome that glittered faintly in the afternoon sun.
King Nevi narrowed his eyes, his gaze darting between Akun and Professor Eldrin. "Professor, What is that sorcery?" he demanded, in a calm yet commending tone, his voice filled with a mixture of curiosity and unease.
Professor Eldrin shook his head, his brow furrowed in deep concentration. "Your Majesty," he confessed, "I have never witnessed such magic before. It appears to be a powerful barrier, but unlike any I've encountered. There were no magic circles, no incantations… it simply… manifested."
Sir Cedric, trapped within the confines of the magical dome, remained suppriznly calm, a mask to hide the unease growing insed him. The air crackled with an unseen energy emanating from Akun, a potent aura that spoke of immense power. He had never encountered anything like it in all his years of service.
Akun's voice, without a hint of warmth, echoed through the arena. "Now, Sir Cedric," he said, "you can go all out. No need to hold back on my account. I assure you, the integrity of this barrier is absolute."
As if to punctuate his statement, Akun drew back his fist and launched a powerful blow towards the dome. A deafening boom echoed through the arena, the force of the impact sending a shockwave through the air. A gust of wind whipped through the stands, momentarily ruffling the hair of the spectators.
The barrier, however, remained unscathed. Not a single ripple disturbed its smooth surface. Akun gestured towards it, a hint of challenge in his voice. "See for yourself," he said. "No damage whatsoever. So, tell me, Sir Cedric, are you ready to truly showcase your skills?"
