Chapter 872 - Extra Story: The Villainess Wants to Fall in Love (6)

"It's always like this. We would have been able to cater more guests if we had someone who knows how to speak other languages," she commented next to Tang Zhelan.

Tang Zhelan raised a brow, clearly intrigued. She certainly didn't have any idea how to run an inn but she knew how to speak with people.

The girl nodded and threw her empty cup of ice cream to the bin at the entrance.

"Uncle Feng could speak and understand a little but he's not that fluent. Auntie Lin usually takes the reception but guests like this, most of the time they leave because we have no idea how to accommodate them for their stay," Zhao Jing explained.

The more Tang Zhelan looked at the situation, the more she realized that the inn had so many issues they needed to resolve as soon as possible. If the problems persisted, the inn of the Zhao family would fall behind the other hotels and inns within Lijiang.

If that happened, would it mean that Zhao Jing would lose the home where she spent with her parents when they were still alive? Tang Zhelan might be ruthless and arrogant when it came to other people but she had a soft spot for young children like Zhao Jing so how could she allow such tragedy to fall on the Zhao family?

Sighing to herself, Tang Zhelan stepped forward and strode towards the receptionists, greeting the foreigners politely much to Auntie Lin and Zhao Jing's shock. It was only that moment Zhao Feng came to see the commotion at the reception area did he realize what had just happened.

Zhao Jing stared at Tang Zhelan, speechless as she listened to the woman speak fluently to their guest, making them smile and laugh at the same time. Miss Tang easily turned the situation into a favorable one and helped Auntie Lin take in their details and assign them into their rooms where they would stay for the next three days.

"Uncle, she's really good!" Zhao Jing told her uncle. "I want to be like Miss Tang when I grow up. She's so pretty and smart!" she added.

Zhao Feng only smiled at his niece and turned his attention back to their special guest. People used to say that his miss was heartless but that was only because they didn't know or bothered to know the real her.

If Tang Zhelan wasn't constantly pressured by her parents, he had no doubt that she would have done better in life. The external pressure and her fear to stand up for herself was what stopped her to live a life she truly deserved. The board of directors of Tang Enterprise would surely use her as a scapegoat to avoid being sued by the empress.

Hours later, once the tasks within the inn had been dealt with, Zhao Feng accompanied his Miss for an afternoon tea at the garden, under the large camellia tree where they could see the nearby small pond filled with koi fish.

"Miss Lan, I want to thank you for your help earlier," Zhao Feng said while he steeped the tea and let it rest for a few minutes.

"It's no trouble at all but I do have suggestions that could help you deal with the problem in the future," Tang Zhelan said nonchalantly then proceeded to tell him what changes they should make at the reception and that included using slips with translations the guests could easily fill up and understand.

"That sounds a good idea, Miss Lan. I'll tell my grandmother at once and ask her permission to implement it." Zhao Feng was pleased with her suggestions. However, he was just a manager of this small inn and the decisions on how it should be run was still on Grandmother Zhao who was already approaching her ninety-second birthday.

"Zhao Jing just told me an interesting story while we're out." Tang Zhelan changed the topic as she remembered the talk she had with the child.

"Say, Zhao Feng. Since when did I end up being her family's benefactor? When did I ever say I will pay her hospital bills?"

She was really curious. Was Zhao Jing being mistaken with her assumptions?

"Ah! That!" the man exclaimed. "I guess Miss Lan has truly forgotten about it." He laughed merrily.

Tang Zhelan frowned at that. She prided herself on remembering important events that happened in her life but how come she didn't remember anything about Zhao Jing and her family?

"Remember during my fifth year of service to your family? You were about to turn eighteen that year and had a huge fight with your parents," he started. f𝘳𝚎𝑒𝚠𝑒𝚋𝘯o𝘃eƖ.co𝓂

Zhao Feng was twenty three at the time while his Miss was turning eighteen. He had come to the Tang family to work after finishing high school and had been working since then. As someone who was working closely with Tang Zhelan, obviously he received some favors from her.

Tang Zhelan nodded. Yes, she could still remember clearly what happened that year. She didn't want to host a grand birthday party but her parents insisted she should as it would be a good platform to establish her name to the circle and meet prospective husbands.

"At that time, my sister-in-law had just given birth to Jingjing but because Jingjing had a congenital defect in her heart, she needed to have surgery as soon as possible or else she would die. Our family almost depleted our accounts because of the piling bills in the hospital and they needed to transfer her to a larger one if she was to undergo the surgery," he explained.

"And? How did I get involved in it?" she questioned.

Zhao Feng laughed. Tang Zhelan might have forgotten, but for him, it only cemented his belief that behind her cold and arrogant facade, she was a person with a good heart.

"You have started building your so-called 'emergency fund' back then, telling me that I should also do the same but I didn't listen to you. So when I heard from my brother that Jingjing's life was in danger, I was desperate to do something to help them. I considered getting a second job while I was in Shenzhen but the contract I had with your family forbade me to have another one."

Tang Zhelan listened attentively. She didn't know why but his recollection did ring a bell on her.

"It was you who extended a hand and helped us during those tough times. You gave me the 'emergency fund' you saved for over two years and said I could use it and not bother to pay you anymore."

"Oh!" Tang Zhelan finally remembered when it had happened. "So that's what happened."

She did lose her first emergency fund by giving it to Zhang Feng but she had no idea where he was going to use the money. She just knew that his family was in dire need of help and it was affecting his work back then.

As her subordinate, how could she not notice the problem? If anything, Zhao Feng would surely lose his job in their household if he kept committing mistakes at work.

"So you see, Miss Lan. If it wasn't for your help, Jingjing wouldn't be here with us."
