When ordering, Ming Kai handed the menu to Bai Yiran. He wasn’t particularly enthusiastic about hot pot nor did he have any special requirements for what to eat. Bai Yiran took the menu without hesitation; she didn’t want to develop a romantic relationship, so there was no need to act overly reserved in front of him.

Following her own preferences, Bai Yiran ordered a table full of dishes.

Ming Kai was somewhat surprised, they were just two people, and he thought they couldn’t finish all that food. He assumed Bai Yiran must be one of those women who have a big appetite but a small stomach.

But, as it turned out, adhering to the principle of not wasting food, Bai Yiran could definitely finish it. He was captivated by Bai Yiran’s manner of eating.

Bai Yiran’s eating style wasn’t grand, but it made people feel appetized just by watching her. She put large bites into her mouth, chewed slowly, then grabbed another big bite and chewed slowly again.

Ming Kai was amazed to discover that watching Bai Yiran eat was a kind of enjoyment. He was a doctor, who always had endless patients to see every day, and his mealtime was usually squeezed in, often just taking a couple of rushed bites before putting down his utensils to do rounds or perform surgery. For so long, he ate merely to live, and it had been a long time since he enjoyed the act of eating.

But now, watching Bai Yiran, her focus on food deeply influenced him, causing him to unwittingly eat a lot too.

After eating and drinking to satisfaction, Bai Yiran looked completely content and noticed Ming Kai looking at her, feeling a bit uneasy, "Is there something on my face?"
