Eternal Life Starts from Tai Chi-Chapter 61: A Plot within a Plot within a Plot (Part 1)
The Righteous Qi Nourishing Porridge didn’t taste very good. For that matter, none of the medicinal soups and porridges did. They all had a strong, rather bitter, medicinal flavor.
The main purpose of brewing these concoctions was for Cultivation, not for satisfying one’s palate. Yang Chan’s current goal was also to improve his Martial Arts Cultivation, so he had naturally gotten used to it. ’Once my Cultivation is high enough and my Pharmacist Ability improves, I plan to create some more palatable medicinal packets. Right now, it’s a matter of survival; later, it’ll be about enjoying a long life.’
The medicinal effect of the Dust-Cleansing Tri-Element Soup was to cleanse the physique, increase the level of physical tempering, and it was also a great help for External Refining. The only unfortunate thing was the taste—it was as foul as ever.
While Yang Chan was in his T-shaped Room brewing medicine and practicing the Wind-Stepping Technique, the Cyan Yuan Sect was making a big move in the Mausoleum Mountain Range outside Taiyu City.
This move had begun yesterday, during the purge of enemy sect spies within Qinghan Mansion.
Elder Lü Zhenghai led two Direct Disciples, ten Elite Disciples, and over a hundred Official Disciples into the Mausoleum Mountain Range.
Their route was already set: Lingyun Road, near Taiyu Valley.
Lingyun Road was the main path up the Mausoleum Mountain Range, and it was also the road the disciples of the Three Major Sects used to descend. Lü Zhenghai and his men were here, acting on intel from their spies within the Three Major Sects, to ambush and kill the disciples coming down the mountain.
Just as the Three Major Sects had planted spies in the Cyan Yuan Sect, the Cyan Yuan Sect naturally wouldn’t turn a blind eye to them, especially since the three sects were rising a bit too quickly, which made them feel threatened.
"Everyone, hide on both sides of Lingyun Road. In half an hour, disciples from the Three Major Sects—Lingyu Palace, Taiyu Valley, and the Nanhua Sword Sect—will come down this path. Our mission is to kill every single person from the Three Major Sects we see. Leave no survivors."
Lü Zhenghai led the disciples, ordering his two Direct Disciples to each take half the men and hide on either side of the road. The objective was obvious: an encirclement.
Both sides of Lingyun Road were lined with tall trees and waist-high weeds, making it easy to conceal people. It was an excellent hiding spot, one that Lü Zhenghai had personally selected. Even if someone were to walk down Lingyun Road, they wouldn’t notice the hidden men unless they entered the woods.
A sneak attack would catch them completely off guard.
"Someone’s coming. Act on my signal."
Lü Zhenghai whispered to the disciple beside him. The men on the other side were also in position, just waiting for his command to strike.
The sound of chaotic footsteps arose as over two hundred people walked down the mountain. They wore three different types of attire and carried swords and sabers. As they descended, they had clear smiles on their faces, looking high-spirited and full of vigor.
"Attack."
Lü Zhenghai roared. He leaped out, taking the lead with his sword. In a flash, his Long Sword moved slightly, and the disciples from the Three Major Sects at the very front collapsed.
A Grandmaster moved so fast that ordinary disciples couldn’t even react. Hearing the command, the other Cyan Yuan Sect disciples charged out. In just a moment, all two hundred-plus people from the Three Major Sects were on the ground.
"Elder, something’s not right. These people are all ordinary folks. They haven’t even comprehended Power. I think we’ve walked into a trap."
An Elite Disciple felt something was wrong after killing one of them.
According to Elder Lü, their targets were supposed to be the Elite and Direct Disciples of the Three Major Sects.
At the very least, they should have comprehended Power, if not be experts in External Refining.
But the people they had just killed... forget External Refining, they hadn’t even perceived Power. While not completely without cultivation, they felt about as strong as the Cyan Yuan Sect’s Servant Disciples—they had a little strength, but not much.
They might seem strong to an ordinary person, but they were pitifully weak in front of someone who had comprehended Power.
This obvious discrepancy naturally signaled a huge problem.
It seemed less like they were ambushing the disciples of the Three Major Sects and more like they had been set up by them. Otherwise, something like this wouldn’t have happened.
Hearing this, Lü Zhenghai’s expression remained unchanged. His gaze swept the area around Lingyun Road. The moment they had struck, another group had begun to emerge from all directions, and Lü Zhenghai had been watching them the whole time.
His two Direct Disciples also looked vigilant.
"All disciples, on your guard! We’re surrounded by people from the Three Major Sects! This is a trap—a trap meant for us!"
"Do not be afraid. I will get you out of here alive."
Lü Zhenghai shouted, his voice reaching the ears of every Cyan Yuan Sect disciple, informing them of the gravity of the situation while also steadying their nerves.
"Elder Lü is an Inner Master! He’ll definitely get us out of here!"
one of the Direct Disciples declared loudly.
Seeing this, the other Cyan Yuan Sect disciples also gradually calmed down, gripping their weapons and vigilantly staring at the figures from the Three Major Sects closing in from all sides.
"Heh heh, Old Ghost Lü, didn’t see this coming, did you? This is a trap we set just for you. A gift of over two hundred Servant Disciple lives."
"Trading their lives for the lives of your hundred-plus men... I’d say it’s a worthy exchange."
Lingyu Palace Elder Song Tianyu sneered, his eyes fixed on Lü Zhenghai with venomous hatred.
There was great enmity between the two. The missing pinky on his right hand was a "gift" from Lü Zhenghai. Back then, his entire right hand had almost been crippled. Thankfully, he found an Advanced Pharmacist who used a rare Top-Grade Spirit Medicine to restore it, but his right hand would forever be missing its little finger.
He had never forgotten that grudge—not even for a single moment.
"So it’s you, my defeated foe. You still dare to show your face before me? You must be tired of living, coming here to beg for death."
When Lü Zhenghai saw Song Tianyu, he naturally recognized him. They had fought when they were younger, but Song Tianyu was just someone he had defeated, hardly worth mentioning.
If another expert from Lingyu Palace hadn’t been there back then, he would have slain Song Tianyu on the spot.
"Old Ghost Lü, don’t get complacent. Back then, you bullied me with your higher cultivation. Now, our cultivation levels are equal. This will be a fight to the death!"
"Besides, did you really think I’d come for you without making preparations?"
"Zhao Yuhai, Li Dayi, aren’t you going to come out and greet our old acquaintance?"
Song Tianyu’s expression grew even colder, and the killing intent in his eyes intensified as he stared at Lü Zhenghai. If looks could kill, Lü Zhenghai would have died a thousand times over by now.
As Song Tianyu finished speaking, two more men appeared. One held a spear, the other gripped a saber. Both were Inner Masters.
Both men fixed their gazes on Lü Zhenghai, their killing intent slowly revealing itself with every flicker of their eyes.
In addition, the true Elite Disciples of the Three Major Sects now appeared, completely surrounding Lü Zhenghai and his men.
This was a trap, a trap aimed squarely at Lü Zhenghai and his contingent.
