Eternal Life Starts from Tai Chi-Chapter 151: Improvements on the Panel, Preparing for Inner Refining
Cyan Yuan Sect.
In the month since Yang Chan returned to the Cyan Yuan Sect, his duties hadn’t been very demanding. The disciples who had been poisoned had either pulled through or succumbed, and afterward, fewer injured disciples were sent over, making his work much lighter.
During this period, Yang Chan spent most of his time on his Cultivation. Of course, while in the Medicine Hall and Pharmacy, he also read the Pharmacopoeia and other books related to being a Pharmacist, making some decent progress. Although his Pharmacist profession hadn’t yet reached Tier Three Mastery, his progress was already at 78%. This wasn’t slow at all; at this rate, it would only take two or three months to reach Tier Three Mastery.
And this was without spending a single Potential Point. If he were to use them, his progress would be even faster.
Yang Chan estimated that he would definitely become an Intermediate Pharmacist before Gu An’s deadline.
’As expected, my Talent for being a Pharmacist is truly outstanding.’
During this time, Yang Chan’s progress with the Flood Dragon Demon Breath Method was also very fast, now at 95% of Tier One Initial Glimpse. Upgrading it to Tier One had been quite costly, consuming nearly thirty Potential Points. This was the most he had ever spent, far more than what the Ox Demon’s Mighty Fist and Tiger Demon Bone-Refining Fist had required.
He could understand why, though. After all, the Flood Dragon Demon Force was much stronger than the Wild Ox Force and the Fierce Tiger Force—they weren’t even in the same league. The time required for its Cultivation was also considerable.
He had spent twenty Potential Points on the Meditation and Breath Holding Technique to raise it to Tier Two. Now, his Cultivation of it was still progressing, much faster than he had anticipated. It seemed this Cultivation Technique was a perfect fit for him.
Now he could hide his aura at all times, to the point that even an Inner Master with a keen Spiritual Sense couldn’t detect him—though there were, of course, distance limitations.
However, completely concealing the aura of his Inner Refining cultivation was no problem at all. As Yang Chan went about his day, he would subconsciously circulate the Meditation and Breath Holding Technique, making his aura seem like that of an Elite Disciple who had just achieved External Refining Copper Skin.
When it came to concealing his Cultivation level, Yang Chan was quite experienced.
Yang Chan put all his remaining Potential Points into the Flood Dragon Demon Martial Seal, which was now also at 95% of Tier One Initial Glimpse. Both techniques were just a step away from Tier Two. Normally, after midnight, both of these Cultivation Techniques would reach Tier Two.
This also meant that Yang Chan could begin Tempering his viscera. From among the Five Viscera and Six Viscera, Yang Chan had already made his choice: he would first Temper the small intestine, which corresponded to the heart.
This was because the heart governs the blood and vessels. Strengthening the heart would, in turn, strengthen his body’s blood and vascular system. Although this was an indirect method, it would yield the best results for Yang Chan. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Improved blood circulation would speed up his metabolism, meaning he could expel toxins from his body faster. He was particularly wary of things like Poison, which could often kill silently and without a trace; quite a few masters had fallen to it. This caution was a direct result of Shen Yuan’s death.
’He had no desire to be killed by the same means one day.’
Furthermore, the heart houses the Spirit. If he strengthened his heart, his Spirit would also be enhanced, which would be a great help in his Cultivation of the Flood Dragon Demon Martial Seal. He was eager to finally condense the Flood Dragon Demon Martial Seal and unleash the true power of an Inner Master. This was something he had long anticipated, an opportunity he would not let pass.
In the human body, the heart is a yang organ, governing clarity. It is the "greater yang" among the yang organs, functioning through yang qi and having a warming, nurturing effect on the entire body. This also contributed to health and longevity—one of his long-term goals, and a small objective he had yet to achieve.
The small intestine that Yang Chan chose to Temper is located in the abdomen. Its upper end connects to the stomach via the pylorus, and its lower end connects to the large intestine via the ileocecal valve. Tempering it would also accelerate detoxification and reduce the incidence of illness.
Having made his choice for viscera Tempering, Yang Chan had naturally already familiarized himself with the special breathing methods and movements required. These were complementary aspects, and only by combining them could one achieve the Inner Refining of the viscera.
Inner Refining Cultivation might seem to focus on strengthening a single organ, but in reality, it strengthens the entire body. The effect on other areas is simply less obvious—a passive strengthening, one might say.
Take Yang Chan’s choice for example: while it seemed he was beginning the Inner Refining of the Six Viscera, he was in fact already starting the Inner Refining of the Five Viscera.
’Midnight is finally here. Time to add the points.’
Yang Chan immediately spent the two newly acquired Potential Points on the Flood Dragon Breathing Technique and the Flood Dragon Demon Martial Seal. Instantly, he felt the Flood Dragon Demon Force within him finally become complete. Although this Power was invisible, he could feel it had roughly doubled in strength. This was the benefit of raising it to completion.
Using this Power for Tempering would now also yield much better results.
The Tempering process for the Inner Refining of the viscera was dependent on the Flood Dragon Demon Force. The stronger the Force, the longer it lasted, which meant he could Temper for longer periods, naturally leading to better results.
After observing this Power for a moment, Yang Chan turned his attention to his Spiritual Power. Although he still couldn’t condense it into the shape of a Flood Dragon Demon, his Spiritual Power had increased significantly. He was not far from being able to form the Flood Dragon Demon Martial Seal.
’Panel!’
Yang Chan summoned the panel and looked over its contents. There were significant improvements across the board.
[Name: Yang Chan]
[Lifespan: 17/222]
[Talent: 21]
[Potential Points: 0.8]
[Mastered Professions: Pharmacist (Tier Two Entry 78%)]
[Comprehended Techniques: Tai Chi Health Cultivation Skill (Tier Four Masterful 8%), Ox Demon’s Mighty Fist (Tier Four Masterful 6%), Turtle Breath Body Cultivation Skill (Tier Two Entry 48%), Demon Suppressing Swordsmanship (Tier Two Entry 68%), Wind-Stepping Technique (Tier Two Entry 60%), Ox Demon Martial Seal (Tier Three Mastery 6%), Tiger Demon Bone-Refining Fist (Tier Four Masterful 2%), Tiger Demon Martial Seal (Tier Three Mastery 2%), Purple Qi Body Cultivation Skill (Tier One Initial Glimpse 88%), Flood Dragon Demon Breath Method (Tier Two Entry 1%), Flood Dragon Demon Martial Seal (Tier Two Entry 1%), Meditation and Breath Holding Technique (Tier Two Entry 3%)]
On the panel, everything except for his Lifespan and Talent had improved. The most significant gains were, of course, in the Flood Dragon Demon Breath Method, the Flood Dragon Demon Martial Seal, and the Meditation and Breath Holding Technique.
Next was his Purple Qi Body Cultivation Skill, which was progressing at a very stable daily rate. It wouldn’t be long before it reached Tier Two, at which point it would once again increase his Lifespan and Talent. His other techniques hadn’t improved as much. It wasn’t that he hadn’t practiced them at all, but the time invested was certainly less than what he had put into the Flood Dragon Demon Breath Method, the Flood Dragon Demon Martial Seal, and the Meditation and Breath Holding Technique.
’Next, I can begin Inner Refining. Once I succeed in refining my viscera, I’ll become an Inner Master, and my Lifespan will increase significantly. Based on the boost other Inner Masters get when they break through, it should be by about sixty years.’
Yang Chan mused silently. The amount of Lifespan gained upon becoming an Inner Master varied, but there was a general range, and he had simply picked a number in the middle.
’I just wonder if it will increase my Talent as well?’
Yang Chan wasn’t sure about that.
