Eternal Life Starts from Tai Chi-Chapter 138: Evil Cult? No, It’s the Myriad Poisons Sect
Reaching the Beginner level in the Meditation and Breath Holding Technique meant Yang Chan could once again put his Potential Points to use. This time, he needed to upgrade it along with the Flood Dragon Demon Breath Method and the Flood Dragon Demon Martial Seal. These were all preparations required for his breakthrough to the Inner Refining of the Lungs and Spleens.
After reaching the Beginner level in the three Cultivation Techniques, Yang Chan wasted no time and immediately began his Cultivation, determined not to let the rest of the day go to waste.
He was the very model of a diligent and hardworking cultivator. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
He only took a break to eat and apply his various prepared medicines, both internal and external; otherwise, he spent all his time in Cultivation. When midnight arrived, Yang Chan allocated his Potential Points to the Meditation and Breath Holding Technique, using up all the points he had accumulated.
He used the 8 Potential Points accumulated over three days to instantly raise the Meditation and Breath Holding Technique to Tier One. The effects of his diligent Cultivation were certainly clear.
An ordinary person cultivating the Meditation and Breath Holding Technique would need over a month just to reach the Beginner level, and at least another four to five months to improve further. He, however, had accomplished in less than half a day what took others roughly half a year. His Talent was truly exceptional.
Yang Chan was quite satisfied with this.
He glanced at the star-filled sky, then went straight to sleep.
’Even hard work has its limits. Overdoing it is not a good habit.’

"Pharmacist Yang, you’re finally here at the Pharmacy! You have no idea how much I’ve missed you."
"Without you, I have no one to talk to, no one to discuss the precautions for Refining the Lantian Jade Refining Pill with!"
As Yang Chan stepped into the Medicine Hall and Pharmacy, Zhao Yi’s voice reached his ears. His voice was so plaintive it was almost a sob, like he was some heartbroken, abandoned soul.
"Pharmacist Zhao, stop right there. Weren’t you just chatting with Pharmacist Li? He’ll be heartbroken to hear you say that."
Seeing Zhao Yi’s exaggerated expression, Yang Chan quickly put out a hand to keep him from pouncing.
As a man who woke up with a full salute every morning, he had no peculiar interests and was definitely not into men.
Thus, he wasn’t a fan of getting all touchy-feely with other men.
"Uh..."
Zhao Yi froze upon hearing this. He felt like there was a hidden jab in Yang Chan’s words, but Yang Chan’s expression gave nothing away.
"So, Pharmacist Yang, you’ve finally finished recuperating. We’ve had a lot of injured disciples sent over lately, most of them from Yu State. And their conditions are pretty bad!"
"They’re suffering from all sorts of strange poisons. Few are fatal, but they’re all incredibly difficult to cure. I’ve tried all kinds of methods recently, but nothing has worked."
Zhao Yi quickly recovered his composure and went on to tell Yang Chan what had been happening recently.
While the dire condition of the injured disciples was the main concern for Zhao Yi and the others, Yang Chan was more focused on the overall situation in Yu State.
The situation in Yu State had surpassed Yang Chan’s expectations. After entering the state, the Cyan Yuan Sect members had failed to assault the No-Life Evil Cult’s main stronghold. Instead, they were getting completely bogged down by the Evil Cult’s various poisons. As far as he knew, an Intermediate Pharmacist had already been sent down from the mountain to provide support.
They hadn’t even deployed an Intermediate Pharmacist during the previous mission to Tan City, which highlighted the urgency of the current situation. Otherwise, the Sect wouldn’t have sent one down the mountain.
’Still, it’s only one person, so the situation must be within an acceptable range. Otherwise, they probably would have sent more people down.’
During this time, besides treating the wounded disciples, Pharmacists like Zhao Yi had been busy preparing various Antidotes. They were even trying to formulate specialized ones to counter the insidious tactics of the No-Life Evil Cult.
But judging from the current state of Zhao Yi and the others, the process of developing these new formulas was clearly not going well.
Only a few days had passed, so this was to be expected.
After all, if the poisons created by the No-Life Evil Cult were easy to cure, it wouldn’t be such a mess.
Yang Chan had already encountered the No-Life Evil Cult’s various poisons back in Tan City. However, he had arrived after the most dangerous period had passed. By then, most of the poisons were understood, and mitigating medicines were available.
Furthermore, Yang Chan was extremely cautious, so he had never been poisoned himself. He did treat other injured disciples, but in severe cases, there was nothing he could do but have them sent back to the Cyan Yuan Sect for proper medical care.
’And now in Yu State, even more poisons are emerging. What I’d seen in Tan City was just the tip of the iceberg.’ He sometimes wondered if the No-Life Evil Cult was truly an Evil Cult or secretly the Myriad Poisons Sect, given the sheer number of poisons they created.
"Well, it looks like we’re all going to be busy. Pharmacist Zhao, do you have any insights you could share?"
Yang Chan asked, looking at Zhao Yi.
He asked casually, not particularly caring if Zhao Yi answered.
After all, formulating a successful Antidote would earn a reward from the Sect—things like Contribution Points, silver coins, and medicinal ingredients. The rewards were quite generous.
The person who had previously created a medicine to alleviate the poisons in Tan City had received a very handsome reward, which had naturally caught the interest of Zhao Yi and the others.
This was especially true for Zhao Yi. He wanted to continue Refining Lantian Jade Refining Pills, and the reward could provide the necessary silver coins and ingredients. Furthermore, there were even more precious Alchemy Texts on the third floor of the Medicine Hall Collection Pavilion. As a Basic Level Pharmacist, he wasn’t currently qualified to enter, but if he made a great contribution, he could be allowed to borrow a few books—a huge boon.
Previously, Gu An had wanted Yang Chan to use his Contribution Points and merits to exchange for those precious Alchemy Texts, which would have helped him get promoted to Intermediate Pharmacist sooner. However, Yang Chan hadn’t followed Gu An’s advice, choosing the complete Flood Dragon Demon Breath Method instead.
Gu An had found it a bit of a shame, but he hadn’t tried to stop Yang Chan’s decision.
"I actually do. These poisons seem to be compound formulas. Each poison contains similar medicinal components, but they’re never exactly the same. It’s as if they just swap out a few ingredients and alter the dosages to create a variety of different poisons, which is why the symptoms vary from person to person."
"That’s what I’ve concluded so far, but I can’t confirm if it’s the right track. You can try experimenting with that idea when you work on an Antidote."
Zhao Yi shared his insights quite openly. In truth, he wasn’t the only one; other Pharmacists had similar suspicions.
They had discussed it among themselves but hadn’t been able to identify a consistent pattern. For now, they were mostly preparing general-purpose Antidotes, which did have some effect.
While these couldn’t completely neutralize the poison, they could suppress its toxicity, helping the poisoned disciples last longer.
"Thanks for the tip, Pharmacist Zhao. I’ll keep that in mind and run some experiments."
Yang Chan said with a serious nod.
’Although I didn’t get any more details, the information is enough to give me a direction. Of course, I’ll only know if it’s the right one after I start researching the poisons myself.’
’Still, it gives me a mental foothold, so I won’t be going in completely blind.’
