Chapter 128: Chapter 128: Pouring Wine Before the Grave, This Is Professionalism

Before leaving, Yang Chan poured out a cup of wine before the bodies of Wang Sheng and his men. It served as both a send-off and as extra fuel to make the fire burn more fiercely.

As the carriage continued on, Yang Chan could see the glow of the fire behind him. Although he had skipped the step of scattering the ashes, for Yang Chan, this was enough.

Under these circumstances, if Wang Sheng somehow survived, one could only say he was fated to live.

He had, after all, watched the Cyan Yuan Sect Disciples add a few extra cuts to the bodies as they collected them, just to make sure no one was feigning death.

For this level of professionalism, Yang Chan could only give a silent nod of approval.

This was professionalism.

The disciples who were injured in the recent fight were not in serious condition. Their wounds were relatively light, and no one had been poisoned. This indicated that Wang Sheng and the other members of the No-Life Evil Cult had run out of Poison.

They had used a great deal of it back in Tan City, so they were essentially out. As a result, the injured disciples’ wounds didn’t worsen.

Except for two disciples with chest wounds who needed to rest in the carriage, everyone else simply bandaged their injuries and rejoined the escort party. It barely affected their progress.

After Yang Chan and his group had traveled for half a day, their party grew again. Tan City had arranged for another Elite Disciple to join the escort, along with more than ten Official Disciples. However, all of these newcomers had minor injuries.

They had been recuperating in Tan City and were now being assigned to the escort mission.

Yang Chan also learned from this Elite Disciple that the Cyan Yuan Sect had already deployed people in the surrounding areas to search for members of the No-Life Evil Cult. The plan was to wipe them all out in one fell swoop, leaving them no chance at all.

Yang Chan was very happy to hear this.

’It’s best to stay far away from things like Evil Cults.’

The rest of the journey was surprisingly peaceful. No one was foolish enough to try and ambush the Cyan Yuan Sect contingent, especially one of this size. Even the most reckless bandits gave them a wide berth.

Ten days later, Yang Chan finally laid eyes on the main gates of the Cyan Yuan Sect again, and he couldn’t help but feel a swell of emotion.

Although the time he spent away from the mountain this time wasn’t as long as his trip to Taiyu City, the dangers he faced were far more complex.

All sorts of poisonings and infiltrations, not to mention an Inner Master ambushing him in his own room—every one of these situations had been perilous.

’The slightest misstep and I would’ve been a dead man. I hope I never have to go through something like that again.’

"These people have the most severe injuries. Send them all to the Medicine Hall and Pharmacy, to Pharmacist Xu Gaocen. Don’t delay."

"Send these few people to..."

Back within the familiar confines of the Cyan Yuan Sect, Yang Chan couldn’t help but take a few deep breaths before he began arranging for the injured disciples to be sent to their various destinations.

The Cyan Yuan Sect had received word long ago that this group of injured disciples was being sent back, so they had naturally arranged for Pharmacists to be ready to provide treatment.

Intermediate Pharmacists were also mobilized, specifically to treat these severely injured disciples.

As for the other disciples requiring special medicines, everything was already prepared; they just needed to be taken to the designated locations.

Yang Chan was the most familiar with the condition of each injured disciple, so he naturally took charge of directing them to the right places. This was part of his mission, though not a complex one.

He directed Han Bingyu and the other Pharmacist’s Assistants, needing only to give orders. Meanwhile, Cai Kun and the other escorts were also helping out.

They hadn’t delayed on their journey, all for the sake of helping these injured disciples survive. Even so, some hadn’t been able to hold on and had perished en route. This included the man with the bleeding, infected chest wound whom Han Bingyu had asked him to examine.

Even though these men had died, their bodies were still brought back to the Cyan Yuan Sect. They weren’t taken to the Pharmacy, however; instead, they were collected by someone else.

Those with families had their bodies sent back to their hometowns for burial, while the familyless were interred within the grounds of the Cyan Yuan Sect. Of course, if a disciple’s family wished for them to be buried within the Sect, that request would not be denied.

In such cases, a letter would be sent to confirm the family’s wishes, and the process was usually quite efficient.

If the process took too long, the body would be cremated and the ashes kept in an urn.

"Pharmacist Yang, you’re finally back."

Zhao Yi’s face lit up with joy when he saw Yang Chan while coming over to receive the injured disciples. Yang Chan was one of the few people who would listen to him ramble on without getting annoyed.

Another reason was that he had tried Refining the Lantian Jade Refining Pill again back at the Cyan Yuan Sect and had, unsurprisingly, failed. He wanted to consult with Yang Chan again to see where he had gone wrong in the process.

Thus, he was overjoyed to see Yang Chan.

"Pharmacist Zhao, it’s been a while. But right now, we should focus on getting these injured disciples inside. None of them are in good shape."

A smile spread across Yang Chan’s face. He was happy to have returned safely to the Cyan Yuan Sect, and seeing a familiar, smiling face, he found the feeling was contagious.

Still, he hadn’t forgotten his duty. It had been no easy feat for these severely injured disciples to endure the journey back to the Cyan Yuan Sect.

It would be a terrible shame if they died right at the doors of the Medicine Hall.

To have held on for so long, only to die within the safety of the Cyan Yuan Sect, would be a tragic waste.

These severely injured disciples had to endure immense pain from their wounds. While Yang Chan did what he could to alleviate it, his help was limited. For the most part, their survival depended on their own willpower.

"Right, right. Of course. We can talk after we get these injured disciples settled."

Zhao Yi nodded quickly. As a Pharmacist, he knew his duties came first; he couldn’t delay their treatment.

Tan City was a long way from the Cyan Yuan Sect. It was no small feat for them to have endured for so many days.

"Pharmacist Yang, the disciples with the most severe injuries over here have all been sent to Pharmacist Xu’s. They’re being treated now."

Han Bingyu reported on her progress to Yang Chan. Once the patients were delivered to Xu Gaocen, her assistance was no longer required. Xu Gaocen’s own Pharmacist’s Assistants took over, treating the injured disciples with great efficiency.

She knew that Yang Chan had once been Xu Gaocen’s Pharmacist’s Assistant, so as they delivered the wounded, she paid close attention to the other assistants’ actions. They were all cleaning the disciples’ wounds with practiced skill.

All the necessary medicines were ready. The moment Xu Gaocen named an item, it was instantly in his hand, ready for him to clean a wound or administer a dose to an injured disciple.

This level of efficiency was far greater than her own, and it made her realize the gap in their abilities.

’But it didn’t discourage her. She had only recently become a Pharmacist; sooner or later, she’d be able to reach that level too.’

"Good," Yang Chan nodded. "Now, let’s get these last few disciples inside."

Yang Chan glanced at the remaining injured disciples. Their numbers were dwindling. Once they were all delivered to the Medicine Hall and Pharmacy, his mission would be complete, and he could finally get some rest.

Of course, there was also the matter of heading to the Instructor Hall to claim the *Flood Dragon Demon Breath Method* and the Flood Dragon Demon Visualization Image. He had been looking forward to this for a long time. Though there was no immediate rush, the thought alone filled him with excitement.
