Eternal Life Starts from Tai Chi-Chapter 123: Only by Fearing Death Will One Respect Life
Yang Chan put down the medicine packet. Tan City was in an uproar today.
The ground had been shaking nonstop since the afternoon. If he hadn’t known that all the Cyan Yuan Sect’s Elders were out fighting, he would have thought it was an earthquake.
The disciples recuperating in Room Geng didn’t dare to stay inside. They were all waiting in an open area, afraid the buildings might suddenly collapse and aggravate their injuries. The risk just wasn’t worth it.
Although staying in the open courtyard wasn’t as comfortable as being inside, it was much safer—unless the ground itself split open, but that was another matter entirely.
Everyone knew the Inner Refining Elders had taken action. Their targets were the three remaining Inner Masters in Tan City—the last of the No-Life Evil Cult’s experts. As long as those three were also killed, the matter of Tan City would be settled.
"Pharmacist Yang, have some water!"
Han Bingyu brought over a bowl of water and offered it to Yang Chan. He had just finished his work, and it was his habit to drink water right after.
Yang Chan nodded. He took the water but didn’t drink it immediately. Instead, he inspected it first, and only after confirming there were no issues did he slowly drink it down.
Han Bingyu, seeing this, was no longer surprised. In fact, she had picked up the same habit.
In a dangerous place like Tan City, it paid to be extra vigilant. She had seen more than a few people get poisoned to death because of a single moment of carelessness.
Helping Yang Chan with treatments and then watching the poisoned die in agony had left Han Bingyu with a deep sense of poignancy.
She had participated in missions outside the Sect, experienced danger, stained her hands with blood, and even killed bandits. She was no naive girl from a Noble Family who understood nothing.
But none of those experiences compared to her time with Yang Chan in Room Geng. Inside Room Geng, she had witnessed all sorts of bizarre ways to die, the despair of those on the verge of death, and the desperate will to live of the heavily wounded disciples.
It was an experience unlike any she’d had before, but it had made her stronger. At the same time, it taught her to be more careful and prudent, because staying alive was the most important thing.
As for those who claimed they weren’t afraid of death, who said it was no big deal to die—when they actually faced their end, the terror that erupted from the depths of their hearts made her understand her own feelings more clearly.
Only by respecting death can one truly value being alive.
She watched Yang Chan finish his water, then her gaze shifted to the other wounded disciples. Saving them also gave her a sense of pride—a pride that welled up from the depths of her heart.
’Looks like the battle is about to end.’
Yang Chan looked toward the three locations where the commotion had been loudest. The disturbances were fading now, a clear sign that the outcome had been decided. This also meant he would be returning to the Cyan Yuan Sect.
This was good news for Yang Chan.
Back in the Cyan Yuan Sect, it wouldn’t be as dangerous as Tan City. Even now, he felt a sense of peril, the aftershocks from the clashes between the Inner Masters still vivid in his mind.
The destroyed Servant Disciple courtyard had only received a cursory cleaning; they had simply relocated. If a battle of that caliber erupted next to him, he wouldn’t be able to withstand the aftershocks, even as an expert at the External Iron Bone Refining stage.
The difference in Combat Power between Inner Refining and External Refining was like night and day; they weren’t even in the same league.
"I suppose so," Han Bingyu guessed, sensing that the signs of battle had all but vanished.
Yang Chan and the others didn’t have to wait long. Disciples from the Law Enforcement Hall soon arrived at various locations throughout Tan Yun Mansion to report on the battle’s progress: the fight between the Grandmasters was over.
There were no more Inner Masters from the No-Life Evil Cult left in Tan City.
This was good news for everyone. It meant the Cyan Yuan Sect had achieved its objective for coming to Tan City, and the wounded disciples began to cheer, celebrating the victory.
After all, they were all participants who had contributed greatly to the battle. This also meant they would be able to receive a large amount of Cultivation Resources.
Most of these disciples from the Cyan Yuan Sect had left the mountain precisely for these Cultivation Resources. Now that the mission was almost over and they could claim their rewards from the Sect, they were naturally delighted.
Many of them had volunteered for this battle after seeing people they knew receive rewards from the Sect and rapidly increase their strength after the Three Major Sects were annihilated.
Now, it was naturally time to reap the rewards.
Although the news was what he had expected, Yang Chan still subconsciously let out a sigh of relief. It was good news, and naturally something to be happy about.
The news matched what Gu An had told him. It also meant the Cyan Yuan Sect’s next step was to deal with the No-Life Evil Cult in Yu State and completely eradicate the source of this disaster. Of course, that had nothing to do with him.
All he needed to do now was wait. When the time came, he would follow Gu An’s arrangements, return to the Cyan Yuan Sect with the other wounded disciples, and escape the dangers of Tan City. That was what mattered most.
"Bingyu, help the others get these severely injured disciples back to their beds. There’s no need to stay out here anymore."
Yang Chan instructed, looking at Han Bingyu and the other Pharmacist’s Assistants beside her.
Now that the battle between the Inner Masters was over, it meant they could return to the wards instead of staying out in the courtyard.
It would be much better for the more seriously injured disciples to be back indoors.
"Yes, Pharmacist Yang."
Han Bingyu and the others helped the most severely wounded disciples—those who were practically immobile—back to their beds to recuperate.
The No-Life Evil Cult’s Inner Masters were gone from Tan City, but that didn’t mean the end. Their followers still needed to be purged. This time, however, the work would be much more efficient and far less dangerous, so many disciples volunteered to participate.
This was the perfect opportunity to rack up merits and earn Contribution Points.
Many of the more lightly injured disciples had Yang Chan check on their condition, then volunteered to follow the Law Enforcement Hall disciples back into Tan City to hunt down the remaining No-Life Evil Cult members and followers.
Yang Chan wasn’t surprised by this at all.
It had been the same back in Taiyu City. After the Three Major Sects were annihilated, some of their disciples had survived, and many disciples had volunteered to hunt them down. Some had even remained in Taiyu City, accepting follow-up search missions just to earn more merit.
Back then, the various powers within Taiyu City had all pitched in, hoping to put on a good show for the Cyan Yuan Sect. With help from so many different groups, they had managed to hunt down a large number of the Three Major Sects’ remnants, earning a great deal of merit, Contribution Points, and the Cultivation Resources those people had stashed away.
These were all valuable rewards.
The current situation was much the same. It was a chance to kick a man while he’s down—not much risk, but a high probability of reward. So why wouldn’t they do it?
Yang Chan helped check the injuries of these more lightly wounded disciples. Before long, basically everyone who could walk properly had left. Room Geng suddenly felt much emptier, and their workload lightened considerably.
