Eternal Life Starts from Tai Chi-Chapter 120: Trophies, The Strongest Inner Refining Technique
Tan Yun Mansion.
White Stone Courtyard.
Gu An looked at the Taiyin Heavenly God Skill Yang Chan had handed over. While it wasn’t the complete Inner Refining Method, it did include the method for Inner Refining of the Six Viscera. Most importantly, it also contained the Visualization Image of the Taiyin Celestial God and a Martial Seal Cultivation Method.
Although it was a Heterodox Technique from the No-Life Evil Cult, the Cyan Yuan Sect had nothing like it. It also gave him a clear understanding of the Evil Cult’s methods.
The No-Life Evil Cult had previously been controlling the people of Tan City. The Sect knew this was a problem but had no solution. Now, the Taiyin Heavenly God Skill revealed the cult’s methods for controlling people. Knowing this meant they could devise a counter-strategy. This was very important.
The reason so many of them had ganged up to kill a single Inner Master from the No-Life Evil Cult was not just because Shen Yuan was a difficult opponent they couldn’t afford to let escape. They had also hoped to acquire the Evil Cult’s method of controlling people from him. However, they hadn’t found the Cultivation Technique on Shen Yuan’s corpse and had assumed he wasn’t carrying it. It now appeared that assumption was wrong.
Yang Chan’s production of the Taiyin Heavenly God Skill naturally explained everything to Gu An. This was good news.
"Good, very good!"
Gu An was very happy, his tone growing more and more excited.
The number of common people in Tan City alone might not be much, but across an entire state, the population was vast. These people were the foundation of the great Sects. A large portion of the talented disciples chosen by the Major Sects originated from among them.
Gu An himself was an example of this. Born to a poor family, he had joined the Cyan Yuan Sect as a Servant Disciple and slowly risen through the ranks to his current position. This was part of the reason he had a favorable impression of Yang Chan.
People with similar experiences often feel a natural goodwill toward one another, though of course, this accounted for only a small part of his fondness.
"With this copy of the No-Life Evil Cult’s Taiyin Heavenly God Skill and the Soul Capturing Technique within it, the Sect will have a way to counter them. It will be even easier to target the No-Life Evil Cult," Gu An said happily, holding the manual.
Although it documented the No-Life Evil Cult’s Taiyin Heavenly God Skill, it also touched upon some cultivation secrets and the cult’s weaknesses. Once they identified those weaknesses, they could exploit them.
The No-Life Evil Cult’s rapid advancement stemmed from the Taiyin Heavenly God Skill, which meant they also had to bear its associated troubles. These troubles would be the key to their destruction.
"What about that damaged Identity Token? Did you need me to bring it?"
Yang Chan hadn’t brought it with him. Since it was damaged, it was basically useless—a piece of junk—so he hadn’t bothered.
"No need. Consider it part of your spoils of war."
Gu An shook his head. An Identity Token wasn’t very useful to begin with, and a damaged one was even less so. When they had fought the Three Major Sects, they had collected many such tokens, most of which were melted down to forge weapons.
"This Taiyin Heavenly God Skill is very important. Is there any reward you want? Cultivation Resources, Pharmacist books, tutoring from an Intermediate Pharmacist—I can arrange any of it for you."
Merit, naturally, had to be rewarded. It was just like when Yang Chan had killed Shen Yuan with poison; that reward was still going through the Sect’s official process, but it would reach him soon enough.
But turning in a Cultivation Technique was a different matter, and the reward for it was also substantial.
Previously, when fighting the Three Major Sects, the sect had acquired many Cultivation Techniques. Some of those were turned in as personal spoils of war and exchanged for a great deal of resources, other techniques, and similar items.
"Can I exchange it for an Inner Refining Technique?"
Yang Chan looked up at Gu An and asked.
It was a tentative question. According to the Cyan Yuan Sect’s rules, exchanges were possible, but when it came to Inner Refining Techniques, Yang Chan wasn’t so sure.
"Of course you can. But you should think it through. Although you’ve started External Refining, you’re still a long way from Inner Refining. If you redeem it now, you probably won’t be able to use it for a long time."
Gu An was a little surprised, but Yang Chan wasn’t the first person to make such a request, nor would he be the last. Gu An thought highly of Yang Chan, so he felt compelled to offer a reminder.
If Yang Chan used the exchanged resources on his Pharmacist path, he could certainly be promoted to Intermediate Pharmacist sooner, and his chances of becoming an Advanced Pharmacist would be even greater.
"During my days away from the mountain, I witnessed the Elders in action. Their power was seared into my mind, and I can’t forget it. I’ve been desperate to catch even a glimpse of just how powerful an Inner Master truly is."
"The thought has been on my mind for a long time, so much so that I can’t stop thinking about it. I want to use this opportunity to truly understand the gap between us."
"Once I’ve exchanged for an Inner Refining Refining Method, I’ll be able to set my mind at ease and focus on my path as a Pharmacist."
Yang Chan spoke of his recent thoughts with a serious expression. It was what he truly felt—not the whole truth, perhaps, but he wasn’t lying. He was being sincere, and his earnest gaze was all the more convincing.
"It’s fine as long as you’ve thought it through."
Gu An nodded. He had harbored similar ambitions in his youth, so he understood completely.
"Do you have a specific Inner Refining Refining Method you want to exchange for? Of course, if you’re not sure yet, you can wait until you return to the Cyan Yuan Sect and make the exchange at the Instructor Hall. There’s no need to rush."
Gu An continued. Exchanging for an Inner Refining Refining Method was, after all, a decision that required a great deal of thought.
The Cyan Yuan Sect had quite a few Inner Refining Refining Methods, all of them obtained from vanquished sects. Many people chose different Cultivation Techniques. It wasn’t unheard of for someone to switch to a different External Refining Method to complement their new Inner Refining Method.
External Refining and Inner Refining methods complemented each other. When paired correctly, they could increase one’s Combat Power exponentially.
The Cyan Yuan Sect had its disciples practice the Ox Demon’s Mighty Fist and the Tiger Demon Bone-Refining Fist as a matched set of Cultivation Techniques. Naturally, the Sect hoped disciples would continue with the Cyan Yuan Sect’s subsequent Inner Refining Method. But if it wasn’t a good fit, they wouldn’t force it; disciples were allowed to switch to other Cultivation Techniques.
However, when all the various Cultivation Methods were compared, the Cyan Yuan Sect’s own techniques were still the strongest. This was the source of the Sect’s dominance in Qing State; the Combat Power they could unleash was truly terrifying.
"I would like to exchange for the Flood Dragon Demon Breath Method. Is that possible?"
Yang Chan didn’t hesitate, because his mind had been made up from the very beginning.
No matter how many Cultivation Techniques were in the Cyan Yuan Sect’s Instructor Hall, the strongest was bound to be the one chosen by the majority of the Sect’s Elders. After all, everyone wanted to become the strongest, so naturally, they would choose the strongest Cultivation Technique.
And the strongest Inner Refining Method in the Cyan Yuan Sect was, without a doubt, the Flood Dragon Demon Breath Method. This was what Yang Chan had heard most often from the Elite Disciples at the Instructor Hall. The Dharma Transmission Steward had also mentioned it once, albeit only in passing, but the comment had left a deep impression on him.
He didn’t opt to wait and choose later at the Instructor Hall. He didn’t believe in the fantasy of finding some ancient technique being used to prop up a desk or some hidden, peerless skill. He simply made the most optimal choice for his situation.
