Eternal Life by Dual Cultivation-Chapter 143 - 119: Ling Changqing: Senior Sister Will Know in the Future
Ling Qiyue’s expression shifted slightly. She quickly retrieved a palm-sized Ancient Bronze Mirror from her Storage Pouch and channeled her Magical Power into it.
"This Magical Artifact was also found in the ruins. It can show scenes from different areas of the Immortal Mansion. The only downside is that it’s temperamental."
As she spoke, Ling Qiyue tried several times before a blurry image finally appeared on the mirror’s surface.
In the image, several blurry, dark figures flickered past and vanished.
"Just as I thought. Intruders have gotten in!"
Ling Qiyue frowned. ’So that disturbance from before must have been those guys triggering an Array Restriction in the Immortal Mansion Ruins.’
"So what should we do now?"
Ling Changqing asked, his expression not particularly tense.
Ling Qiyue said, "This is their first time breaking in, so they can’t be familiar with the inside of the Immortal Mansion Ruins. They’re bound to run into all sorts of dangers."
"By the time they manage to get through the outer areas, they’ll have lost at least a dozen lives!"
"As for what comes next, it’ll all depend on how fast we can move!"
Even if everything went smoothly for them, those people would have to pay a hefty price to track the two of them to their current location.
"Alright then. Let’s just focus on what we’re doing and ignore them for now,"
Ling Changqing said.
Ling Qiyue nodded silently, mentally reviewing the many hidden trump cards she possessed. ’As long as their team doesn’t have a Late stage Golden Core expert, I can hold my own.’
Of course, things were different now. Ling Qiyue felt her greatest reliance was the handsome, purple-robed young man by her side.
As long as he was here, she didn’t have to worry about the situation spiraling out of control.
The two continued on, hand in hand. After passing no fewer than twenty intersections, a second giant gate appeared in their view.
Unlike the Bronze Gate they had found before, this one shone with a silver luster. The Array Patterns on it were even more complex and intricate, and countless Talisman Seals as fine as grains of sand flickered in and out of existence on its surface.
Even from a great distance, the intangible, majestic aura emanating from the Silver Gate made Ling Changqing feel as if he couldn’t breathe.
The Era Star Palace in his sea of consciousness trembled slightly, and a barely perceptible, dark light spread out, easily dissipating most of the pressure.
"Is there a way to open it?"
Ling Changqing asked softly.
Ling Qiyue took a palm-sized, simple and unadorned silver token from her Storage Pouch and said,
"Qiu Yao found this last time when we were searching the outer areas of the ruins. But we were both injured back then, so we didn’t go any deeper!"
After a moment’s hesitation, she placed the token in Ling Changqing’s hand.
"Junior Brother, your Luck and Fortune are stronger. Perhaps if you try, the chances of opening the gate will be higher?"
"Then let me try!"
Ling Changqing didn’t refuse. He took the silver token and walked toward the gate.
Ling Qiyue followed close behind him, the Fenghuo Panyun Bell hovering over her head. She clutched a stack of Talismans in her hand, her senses sharp as she watched vigilantly for any sign of movement.
A moment later, the radiant Silver Gate was within reach. A recess in its center was clearly visible, its shape a perfect match for the token.
Ling Changqing held his breath and slowly fitted the token into the recess. It slid in perfectly, leaving almost no trace it was ever separate.
A series of faint tremors came from beneath the ground, and the light of the Silver Gate quietly dimmed.
Then, the heavy gate slowly parted from the center, retracting into the walls on either side.
Behind the giant gate was another corridor, but this one was wider and paved with unfamiliar, pale silver flagstones.
Ling Changqing observed for a moment, then wrapped his arm around Ling Qiyue’s waist and walked inside, one step at a time.
The Era Star Palace in his sea of consciousness lit up slightly. A stream of profound and cryptic information quietly flowed into his Divine Soul.
In Ling Qiyue’s eyes, the young man beside her walked in fits and starts, cautiously avoiding the flagstones with complex patterns and stepping only on the blank ones.
Sometimes, Ling Changqing would pull her back without any warning, walking a hundred paces or so before circling around via a different route.
They left one fork in the road after another behind them, passing through several halls filled with chests and cases shimmering with Spiritual Light, as well as Jade Scroll Books.
But Ling Changqing was unmoved. He led Ling Qiyue straight past them without a single glance.
"All these things are vicious traps. The kind you can’t possibly escape once you fall in. Let’s just leave them for the guys behind us!"
Ling Changqing explained. In the senses of his Era Star Palace, these places were all filled with a dark Curse and Resentment Qi. The terrifying killing intent was so thick it was almost tangible; he feared even a Nascent Soul True Monarch would have to tread carefully.
"Junior Brother, how can you tell?"
After walking for more than an hour, Ling Qiyue finally couldn’t help but ask.
"I can’t see it. It’s just a feeling. The aura here feels... ominous."
"As for the specific reason, you’ll find out in the future, Senior Sister!"
Ling Changqing said. He couldn’t reveal the secret of the Era Star Palace, so for now, he could only be vague and brush it off.
"...Is that so?"
Ling Qiyue’s elegant brows furrowed slightly. Her large, beautiful eyes studied Ling Changqing with suspicion for a moment, realizing she could see through him less and less.
’But now isn’t the time. Once we get out of here, I’ll definitely have to drag Tang Qiu Yao along and ruthlessly ’interrogate’ him.’
After walking a bit more, the view suddenly opened up. A picturesque courtyard, spanning several acres, appeared before them.
"There aren’t any traps here, so we can just go in?"
Ling Changqing didn’t pause for a second, stepping into the courtyard with Ling Qiyue on his arm.
At the same time, the scene behind them quietly changed. The silver corridor they came from had completely vanished.
The courtyard was filled with rich Spiritual Qi and a refreshing, fragrant aroma. It was clearly a Third Grade high rank Cave Mansion Hall.
"What’s that?"
Ling Qiyue said softly, pointing a few dozen paces away.
On a jade table sat a Jade Scroll that shimmered with a clear light. It was completely unrolled.
"We can go take a look, but it’s best not to touch it."
Ling Changqing said after a look. The Jade Scroll also had a faint black aura around it; touching it rashly would lead to unforeseeable trouble.
So the two walked to the table, leaned over slightly, and began to focus on the contents written on the Jade Scroll.
The script on the Jade Scroll wasn’t difficult to decipher. Ling Changqing quickly memorized the entire text of just over two thousand characters.
"...The Taiyin Moonlight Divine Heart Refining Scripture? This must be one of the Sect’s Techniques from the Vast Sea Dark and Bright City! It’s a pity this is only the Upper Volume!"
Ling Qiyue’s beautiful eyes were filled with utter disbelief, mixed with obvious regret.
The Taiyin Moonlight Divine Heart Refining Scripture, as its name implied, was a rare Cultivation Method Scripture that could temper a Cultivator’s soul, strengthen their Divine Soul Origin Power, and defend against Spiritual Sense Attacks.
"In terms of rank, it should be a Profound level Top Grade technique, right? A pity it’s only half a manual, so at best it can only be considered Profound level Middle Grade..."
Ling Changqing mused, not feeling particularly disappointed. This was much stronger than the Cultivation Techniques he and Ling Qiyue were currently practicing.
A moment later, both of them had fully memorized the contents of the Jade Scroll, along with its lingering Dao Rhyme, imprinting it all into their seas of consciousness.
"A very nice haul! Even if we left the Immortal Mansion right now, this trip would have been worth it!"
Ling Qiyue beamed, having already adjusted her mindset.
Of the Heaven, Earth, Profound, and Yellow Grades, the best Cultivation Method Scriptures that powers at the Golden Core Level could hope to possess were typically Low Grade Profound level; Middle Grade ones were extremely rare.
Therefore, for the Ling Family, this Cultivation Technique was of extraordinary significance. In the future, it could become a vital part of the family’s foundation.
"Let’s keep looking. There should be more than just one or two good things here!"
Ling Changqing said. This was likely the former residence of some Great Power, so every corner was worth checking.
"Let’s stick together. We can’t get separated!"
Ling Qiyue wrapped her jade-like arm around his, her beautiful face slightly flushed as she spoke.
She was worried about unexpected traps. Without the protection of Ling Changqing’s extraordinary Destiny, she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to handle it.
Ling Changqing naturally wouldn’t refuse. The two of them conducted a thorough search of the courtyard before walking up the steps and entering a side room to continue their inspection.
Before long, Ling Changqing made a new discovery.
