Eternal Life by Dual Cultivation-Chapter 124 - 109: Ling Bingyun: This Matter Requires the Young Master’s Help
「Changqing Continent.」
The Celestial Vault above remained dim, devoid of light. Thick, dark clouds blotted out the sun, unleashing a torrential downpour. From time to time, bolts of lightning snaked across the cloud cover.
Near a stretch of low, rolling hills, a large group of cultivators in disparate attire had split into two factions, locked in a fight to the death. The light from various Talismans, Magical Artifacts, and Divine Techniques flared and faded in rapid succession.
BOOM!
A bowl-thick, blood-red bolt of lightning crashed down. The Cultivator bearing the brunt of the attack grimaced as the square Giant Shield in his hand erupted with layers of deep blue light. He gritted his teeth and raised it to meet the strike.
Amidst the deafening impact, a dense, spiderweb-like pattern of cracks spread across the Giant Shield’s surface. Its glow dimmed, and it was clearly on the verge of shattering completely.
"Damn it!"
The Yuan Family Cultivator, at the Qi Cultivation 9th Layer, stared in anguish at the Giant Shield in his hands. ’This was the best Magical Artifact I owned!’
However, the handsome, purple-robed young man across from him had a cold and severe gaze. With a slight turn of his fair hand, several more Top Grade Thunder Strike Talismans materialized, giving his enemies no chance to catch their breath.
With the purple-robed young man at their center, a dozen or so Ling Family Cultivators formed a defensive formation, covering each other as they unleashed a barrage of attacks as dense as rainfall.
As thunder roared, blood-red bolts of lightning, each containing terrifying destructive power, crashed down one after another, leaving the invading Cultivators overwhelmed and in a wretched state.
SWISH!
A saw-like Magical Artifact, several feet in diameter and spinning at high speed, shot toward the purple-robed young man. Gleaming with a cold light, it aimed to slice him in two at the waist, reaching him in an instant.
However, just as it was about to make contact, the Top Grade Magical Artifact was stopped by several thin but resilient barriers of light, unable to advance another inch.
A Glazed Yellow Umbrella materialized above the young man’s head. Its pale golden barrier of light shielded his entire body, rendering all the opposing Cultivators’ attacks useless.
"A Top Grade Spiritual Artifact?"
The Yuan Family Cultivators’ faces turned ashen. They were just a mob of small-fry, with the strongest among them only at the Qi Cultivation 9th Layer. Even with their superior numbers, facing a Foundation Establishment Cultivator who wielded a Top Grade Spiritual Artifact was no different from serving themselves up on a platter.
Under normal circumstances, they never would have attacked. But their opponents were few in number, and greed got the better of the Cultivators in the group, who thought they could pull off a big score.
And that had led to this very scene. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Under Ling Changqing’s leadership, the Ling Family Cultivators didn’t yield an inch. They more than held their own against the infiltrating group of Yuan Family Cultivators, felling an enemy every few breaths.
Unwilling to accept defeat, the Yuan Family Cultivators launched a desperate siege. A ceaseless barrage of Talismans and Divine Techniques rained down, and several massive battle pets joined the fray, but it was all for naught.
The Glazed Yellow Umbrella’s Defense was so powerful that it would take a Spiritual Artifact of at least the same grade to pose a threat. This entire group of attackers, combined, didn’t even come close.
"This is hopeless. Let’s pull back?"
Watching his men fall one after another, the lead Yuan Family Cultivator finally lost his nerve. He planned to lead his remaining forces in a temporary retreat to escape the brunt of the assault.
"You think you can just leave?"
Ling Changqing snorted coldly. He manipulated a Spiritual Artifact-level Flying Sword and directed the Ling Family Cultivators to gradually press forward, subtly forming an encirclement.
Of course, he couldn’t press them too hard, lest they act out of desperation.
SLASH!
Amid a dazzling flash of Sword Aura, the lead Yuan Family Cultivator cried out in pain. His two layers of defensive measures shattered, and a moment later, the lower half of his arm was severed, gushing blood.
The morale of the remaining Yuan Family Cultivators instantly plummeted. It was unclear who started it, but all who were still alive suddenly scattered, fleeing for their lives in every direction.
Ling Changqing had no intention of splitting his forces to give chase. His Flying Sword wheeled about, cutting down a few of the slower ones, after which he gave the order to regroup and rest where they were.
The Ling Family did not lack for strength. Every day, hundreds of Cultivator teams patrolled all over Changqing Continent, and each team consisted of no fewer than ten people.
Therefore, Ling Changqing wasn’t worried about the few fish that had slipped through the net. If they didn’t flee Changqing Continent immediately, they wouldn’t survive for long.
Ling Bingyun, a tall, curvaceous woman with features as fine as a painting, was dressed in a crimson gown. She skillfully set up a tent, started a fire within it, and then invited Ling Changqing inside to rest.
The dozen or so Ling Family Cultivators sat in a circle around the fire. Some meditated to recover their Spiritual Power, some bandaged their wounds, and others sorted through the spoils of war.
"Young Master Ling, these are for you."
Ling Bingyun offered him two Storage Pouches with a charming smile. Both had been taken from the fallen Yuan Family Cultivators.
Ling Changqing accepted them and gave them a cursory glance. Finding nothing of value inside, he shook his head and tossed them to Ling Bingyun.
"Here, they’re all yours."
He said. ’With my current wealth, these Qi Cultivation Stage Cultivators are all paupers. They don’t have any decent loot.’
"Well, in that case, I won’t be shy!"
Ling Bingyun beamed, a faint blush coloring her fair, delicate cheeks.
Beside her, the petite and delicate Ling Xueyu, as lovely and radiant as a pearl, rolled her eyes at Bingyun. She then retrieved an exquisite White Jade Wine Pot and a wine cup from the Storage Bracelet on her fair wrist.
"Senior Brother, it’s so cold outside. Have a drink to warm up."
She said softly, pouring a full cup of the Spirit Wine Nectar and handing it to him.
Ling Changqing nodded, took the cup, and downed it in one go.
Outside the tent, the storm still raged with thunder, lightning, wind, and rain. From time to time, faint tremors could be felt underfoot, indicating that the geological structure of the New Continent was not yet stable, resulting in frequent earthquakes.
"Rest for one hour, then we continue the patrol."
Ling Changqing announced. Neither of the two women nor the other Ling Family Cultivators had any objections.
By appointment from Ling Qiyue, Ling Changqing was personally leading a team of Ling Family disciples on a patrol of their territory on the Changqing Continent, tasked with clearing out any uninvited Cultivators from hostile forces.
