Eternal Life by Dual Cultivation-Chapter 113 - 104: The Demise of the Mu Family, the Birth of the New Continent
The Wilderness Islands, the Mu Family.
Inside the Council Hall, Feng Zhengqing, the special envoy from the Feng Family, sat in the main seat, his expression dark and somber.
Over ten Cultivators from the Feng Family were seated on either side, their cold gazes fixed upon the group of Mu Family’s upper echelons kneeling on the floor.
Kneeling at the very front was, naturally, Patriarch Mu Yesheng. His face was ashen, his eyes filled with despair. Ropes shimmering with dozens of streams of Spiritual Light bound him tightly, and two Soul Banning Talismans were stuck to his forehead.
As a result, both his physical body and Divine Soul were completely sealed. Even taking his own life had become an impossible luxury.
"...My patience has its limits,"
Feng Zhengqing’s cold, harsh voice echoed throughout the grand hall:
"Who exactly harmed Old Ninth? Spit it out now!"
"Lord High Envoy, I... We..."
Mu Yesheng stammered, not knowing how to explain.
Nearly ten years ago, a heavily injured foreign Golden Core Master had briefly stopped in the Wilderness Islands. He had even bought some Healing Elixirs from the Marketplace for emergency use.
Although he concealed himself extremely well, the severe injuries to his physical body and Divine Soul still gave him away, allowing the Mu Family Elder stationed at the Marketplace to notice something was amiss.
If it had been Mu Yesheng himself, he might not have been so quick to act. He would have at least investigated the man’s background and origins first.
If the man had been a Loose Cultivator, they would have decisively robbed and killed him, leaving no trace behind. But if he came from a major power, they would have had to act with caution.
However, that Mu Family Elder, whose Lifespan was running short, couldn’t restrain himself. Greed triumphed over reason, and he ultimately chose to take the risk.
By the time Mu Yesheng learned of the matter, the deed was done. There was no turning back.
In the end, Mu Yesheng could only hold his nose and accept the situation. He did everything in his power to erase all traces and clean up the mess, ordering that Elder to get out of the family and lay low for a while.
For all these years, Mu Yesheng had prayed day and night, hoping that the unfortunate soul’s backers would never find out, lest it bring annihilation upon his family.
However, the Feng Family never forgot the matter. After years of open and secret investigations, they finally came knocking today.
And that led to the current scene.
Before a behemoth like the Feng Family, a newly-promoted True Pill Cultivator was nothing. All of the Mu Family’s upper echelons, including Mu Yesheng, were captured.
"If you won’t confess, then I’ll just have to kill you and perform a Soul Search!"
Feng Zhengqing said coldly, the killing intent in his voice unconcealable.
It wasn’t that he enjoyed wasting his breath. The main reason was that he wasn’t an Elder from the family’s Celestial Punishment Hall. The few Soul Search techniques he knew were not very sophisticated and caused significant damage to the target’s soul. The person’s soul might scatter before he even got the full story.
That was why Feng Zhengqing had decided to interrogate them first before deciding how to deal with them. If he could complete his mission smoothly, he would be able to report back to the Elders.
"Fine, I’ll talk..."
Mu Yesheng knew there was no hope left. If he wanted a quick death, his only option was to appeal to Feng Zhengqing’s mercy.
Before long, he had recounted the entire course of events.
That Golden Core Master had likely been exploring the Deep Sea when he was besieged by several Third Grade deep-sea beasts, sustaining heavy injuries. By the time he managed to escape to the Wilderness Islands Marketplace, he was already on the verge of death.
At the time, not only were his physical body and Divine Soul grievously injured and his life-saving measures exhausted, but even his Lifebound Magical Treasure was nearly destroyed. It was impossible for him to hold on long enough to return to the Feng Family’s territory.
Out of desperation, his only choice was to try and purchase some second-rank Healing Elixirs locally to alleviate his injuries, if only for a moment.
Then, as one might expect, that Elder from the Mu Family targeted him. He tampered with the Elixirs and launched a sneak attack while the man was in seclusion to heal.
However, although the Mu Family Elder succeeded, when Mu Yesheng later rummaged through the man’s Storage Pouch, he didn’t find anything of value—only a Terrain Map detailing the location of an undersea Spirit Stone Deposit.
"...Lord High Envoy, every word I’ve said is true, without a single falsehood! That fellow Daoist’s belongings have also been kept safe. You can take them back with you!"
Mu Yesheng concluded.
Feng Zhengqing’s gloomy gaze sized him up for a long moment before he said grimly:
"Where did the culprit run off to? Get him back here at once! And his wife, children, and elders—everyone involved in this matter. Not a single one will be spared!"
"Yes, I will see to it at once!"
Mu Yesheng agreed, his expression bitter.
’The Mu Family is surely done for. But that girl, Mu Yu Xin, is currently staying in the Ling Family’s territory... she should have a chance to survive this, right?’
...
Scorching red clouds raged between the sky and sea, accompanied by the incessant roar of thunder, as if the entire vast Celestial Vault was on fire.
Amidst the churning maelstrom of molten fire-rain, milky-white steam, and high-temperature cyclones, a Cultivator’s vision and Divine Sense were severely restricted.
Even the range of an ordinary Golden Core Master’s Divine Sense was reduced to less than a hundred zhang.
Under the protection of the Fenghuo Panyun Bell, Ling Changqing and his two companions flew cautiously close to the roiling, boiling surface of the sea, collecting the corpses of selected beasts into their Storage Pouches.
However, these beasts were generally quite large, and Tang Qiu Yao soon discovered that the Spatial Magical Artifacts they carried were simply not enough.
After a brief discussion, the trio decided to only carve out and collect the most valuable parts from the beast corpses, reluctantly abandoning the rest.
This freed up considerable space in their Spatial Magical Artifacts, allowing them to store more high-value spoils.
