Chapter 90: Forgotten Shore

"You... translated ’Forgotten Shore’?!"

Maya’s voice was almost raised to a squeal as she flipped through the book. It looked neat, almost like a printed copy, but she recognized Kaiser’s handwriting throughout the entire book.

This was really... really a book he had translated personally.

She bit her lip, looking conflicted. "Why... why would you even stress over that?"

Kaiser calmly replied. "You showed interest in that book during our first meeting, didn’t you?"

Maya nodded, "Well, I did. It is a popular book, after all."

Kaiser shrugged. "Teaching you the Latin language would be quite a hassle, so I could only help you translate for now. At least it’ll satisfy your curiosity for now."

Maya lowered her head, clutching the book tightly.

’He wants to teach me... why? Why is he treating me specially? Does he... like me?’

It was inevitable that she would have such thoughts, after all Kaiser wasn’t this nice to anyone else. In fact, he had been quite ruthless this afternoon, ready to expel a classmate.

"You have a question? Ask away." Kaiser folded his hands on the table, leaning forward slightly.

With her green eyes behind those glasses, Maya asked. "Why are you treating me this differently? It’s strange. You’re not usually like this with your classmates, right?"

Kaiser took a moment to hum, then said. "You have a very attractive quality, Maya. You merely have this privilege because of this quality."

He suddenly smiled, bright and genuine.

"If you grow beyond what I’m expecting... I might decide to keep you."

’Keep... me?’ She felt heat rush to her face, but she hurriedly controlled it.

"Although I can barely understand you, I know you have high expectations of me. I hope I don’t disappoint."

She said seriously, staring into his eyes determinedly.

"Oh..." Kaiser chuckled, "There is no reason for you to feel pressured. Just continue being yourself and let me observe."

Maya adjusted her glasses, then nodded. Without saying another word, they focused on their respective books.

Time passed quietly, with the atmosphere serene and comfortable. After about two hours, when the sky was already darkening, they both stopped reading.

Kaiser and Maya walked back to the dorms together. Whenever they passed by a first-year student, the student would look at them strangely. Even a few seniors looked informed about the situation.

"I don’t like the way they’re looking at you."

Maya frowned, openly expressing her displeasure.

Kaiser slightly ruffled her hair with a light smile. "You shouldn’t be bothered by their opinion, they are all irrelevant to me."

She clutched the strap of her bag tightly, putting on a sulky expression. Kaiser found it cute, and teased her by poking her cheeks.

She laughed, and he smiled faintly. Like that, they arrived at the dormitory and went to their separate floors.

...

In the Student Council office, President Anthony, his secretary Reas, the Treasurer Laura, and Vice President Eren were present.

The president was at his seat as usual, a pile of work before him. Reas stood behind him like a good secretary, occasionally helping him out.

Meanwhile, Eren lounged on the couch, being served tea by Laura. He scrolled through his phone lazily, then smiled when he received a message from one of his informants.

"Hm? President, something interesting actually happened."

Anthony spoke without looking up. "Let’s hear it."

"It was actually a student of Class-E who leased class cameras from the school and resold them to each class at a high price..." He paused, carefully studying the blindfolded man’s reaction.

Seeing as he wasn’t surprised, he raised a brow. "You knew? This is new, President. Is there something I’m not aware of?"

Reas, disliking his tone, shot back. "No one is obligated to report to you, Eren. Know your place."

His orange eyes turned to her with slight displeasure, but he just shook his head.

He didn’t bother retorting, as he knew how well the President valued his secretary. If the argument went too far, he might face unpleasant consequences.

"Whatever." He waved a hand lazily, then continued. "Another piece of news is that this same student also used his massive credit balance to almost expel one of his own classmates. Quite ruthless, right?"

This finally caught Anthony’s attention as he raised his head. He looked at Eren and asked.

"Kaiser really did that?"

Eren didn’t miss the familiarity in Anthony’s tone when he said that name. Smiling, he carefully answered.

"Indeed, the name here reports Kaiser Solace from Class-E."

Laura, who had been silent, also spoke. "Isn’t he the student rumored to have fought an Evolved Monster and killed two Awakened Fiends?"

"Ah!" Eren snapped his fingers. "Thank you for reminding me. Indeed, it seems this junior of ours has quite the reputation."

Anthony hummed, "If that is the case, I’m not surprised. He seems like someone capable of doing so."

The others were surprised, wondering why the President ignored all that had happened like it was a normal thing. Even his tone... was he siding with Kaiser?

"Oh my goodness." Eren covered his mouth. "Could it be that the President is already acquaintances with this student? I really want to know him too!"

He took a sip of the tea, calmly waiting for Anthony’s answer.

"Do you think he’s the type to meet casually?" Anthony shook his head. "I highly doubt your success in recruiting him."

"Oh? He’s that difficult?" Eren was slightly surprised, but not by much.

Based on the reports, Kaiser seemed to be a really proud guy. Well, he could only confirm when he meets with him personally.

Anthony soon turned his attention back to the documents before him, while Eren resumed scrolling through his phone and messaging someone.

’That kid. He discovered that class cameras could be bought, something even I, and the President didn’t realize.’

It’s a big loophole, but the academy management had immediately banned such transaction before it could be abused.

’Oh he must have made millions from the five classes~ I wonder what he truly is like?’

Crossing his legs, Eren continued to scroll through his phone while occasionally sipping his tea.
