Over an hour later, Song Xiaozhi, exhausted from crying, finally fell asleep.
Gu Tiantian tucked her in, tidied the corners of the blanket, slightly cleaned up the room, then turned around and went into the kitchen. After boiling some water, she poured it into a thermos and returned to the bedroom to place it on the bedside table.
She tiptoed out of the bedroom, and closed the door gently behind her.
Looking at the messy living room, Gu Tiantian took a deep breath and decided to tackle the mess.
She fetched Song Xiaozhi’s usual kitchen apron from the kitchen, tied it around her, and gently coiled her obstructive ponytail into a small bun on top of her head, looking both lively and adorably silly.

After hanging up the phone, and with herself sorted out as well, Gu Tiantian began the work.
The first thing was to open the windows for ventilation, as there was a particularly strong smell from instant noodles and other things.
She gathered the instant noodle cups and takeout boxes scattered around the living room into a bag, and separated the drink bottles, and soda cans into another, filling three large bags in total.
Now, the living room was somewhat presentable.
She found a basin and a cloth in the bathroom, dampened the cloth, wrung it out, and began wiping down the tables and such that had already been tidied.
After cleaning the table, she noticed the clothes piled messily on the sofa, some with noodles on them, and frowned.
She gathered all the clothes and sofa covers, managing to carry two large bundles, and took them to the bathroom for separate washing.
When she had just finished packing all the garbage and hadn’t yet mopped the floor, the doorbell rang.
Gu Tiantian, sweating profusely, wiped the sweat off her forehead and jogged over to open the door.
Seeing the young man in the water delivery company’s uniform, she smiled and nodded.
"This way, please!"
The water delivery guy, with his thick eyebrows and big eyes, had a look that immediately conveyed his lively and cheerful nature.
Seeing Gu Tiantian resemble a high school student, he greeted her with a friendly smile.
"Okay, is this... a thorough cleaning?"
Gu Tiantian smiled and nodded, glancing at the floor she hadn’t yet mopped.
"Yes, but it’s quite a massive task, a total mess, please excuse it."
The guy burst into laughter, his teeth shining brightly.
"Oh no, my own place is much messier than this!"

It seems that boys who like tidying up are rare. Back when she was in school, she often heard her roommates talk about how their boyfriends’ dorms were like war zones, with stinky socks flying everywhere, practically strong enough to knock someone out.
Chatting casually with Gu Tiantian, the young man quickly installed the drinking water while glancing around the entire living room.
As he was about to leave, he noticed the three disposable garbage bags piled by the door and spoke up with a grin.
"I’m just heading downstairs, let me take these three bags of trash for you!"

At least it would save her an extra trip.

The guy, holding the empty water barrel in one hand, scratched the back of his head with the other and smiled brightly.
"No problem at all, it’s on my way anyway, and I’m strong enough, no big deal."
With that, without giving Gu Tiantian another look, he picked up the three large bags and the empty water barrel, and went out the door.
Gu Tiantian followed him to the door, watched him enter the elevator, then smiled and went back inside.
