Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Your Son Can Stay Too

Hearing these words, Chloe felt a sudden tightness in her chest.

The photo was a rough AI face-swap, but because it was so crude, it revealed many similarities between her and Chloe Nash.

Chloe’s fingers trembled slightly as she held the photo: "AI technology is advancing so quickly. Mr. Prescott, you’re one of the key contributors. It’s just a shame that criminals have taken advantage of it to break the law."

Seeing her acting normal, Silas didn’t pursue the matter further. He picked up the rest of the photos and stood up.

"You already know who’s behind all this, don’t you?"

Chloe nodded: "It’s probably Mrs. Sterling. She’s afraid I’ll steal her daughter’s man, so she’s using these tricks to smear me. To stop them from misunderstanding, you and I should keep our distance, Mr. Prescott. I don’t want to be slandered anymore."

Silas bent down, his jet-black eyes swirling with emotions Chloe couldn’t read.

"Dr. Nash, you seem nervous. Are you scared, or hiding something?"

"I stand tall with a clear conscience," Chloe replied.

"Well, there you go. Why worry about other people? I’ll give you an explanation for this mess. Come on, let’s get you something to eat first."

Chloe backed away a couple of steps: "No need, my husband’s bringing me lunch. He’s waiting in my office."

At that, Silas let out a dark, chilling laugh from his throat.

"Your husband’s really attentive, huh? Fine, let’s go to your office. I’ll talk to you about your father’s case."

Chloe didn’t dare refuse that reason. Even though she didn’t want Silas around, she couldn’t say anything for the sake of her father’s case.

The two of them opened the office door together.

Albie stood by the window in a gray tracksuit, while the two kids sat in chairs watching cartoons.

When they walked in, Julian was the first to run over on his little legs.

He threw himself into Chloe’s arms, looking up at her with his little face: "Mommy, you’ve worked hard."

He pulled a piece of chocolate out of his pocket and handed it to Chloe, his big shiny eyes brimming with worry.

All of Chloe’s exhaustion melted away. She bent down and pinched Julian’s cheek.

"Thank you, sweetheart."

Fries came over too, handing Chloe a glass of water: "Mommy, have some water. Daddy made sweet-and-sour ribs and fish for you."

Smiling, Chloe ruffled his hair: "Okay, you guys keep playing. Mommy needs to talk with Uncle Prescott."

Albie walked up to Chloe, his gentle voice filled with concern.

"You haven’t eaten anything in ages. You must be starving. Quick, have a bite to eat."

He even nodded politely at Silas: "Mr. Prescott, my wife’s a bit anemic—she can’t go hungry too long. I’ll take care of her meal first, and we’ll talk to you later."

He finished speaking and pulled Chloe by the hand to the table, gently pressing her into a chair.

Then he opened each insulated lunch box and handed Chloe a pair of chopsticks.

His actions were smooth and practiced, as if he’d been looking after Chloe for a long time.

Watching all this, Silas felt a stab in the eye.

Every "wife" Albie called her was like a needle, stabbing deep into Silas’s chest.

Whenever he saw Albie treating Chloe well, Silas felt like he was wearing a big green hat.

It was like this man had stolen his woman.

Silas wore a gentle smile, but deep in his eyes a dark, heavy mood was beginning to rise.

He reached out and tousled Julian’s hair, asking, "Been good today?"

Julian nodded again and again: "Mm-hmm, Fries wants to see the tigers!"

"Alright, tomorrow Daddy will have someone take you to the zoo."

Fries jumped up excitedly at that: "Awesome! We get to see big tigers! Julian, I’ll bring you snacks. Let’s feed the deer together!"

Julian clapped along too: "Thanks, Fries. Let’s feed the deer together."

Seeing Julian getting more expressive, Silas felt a little comforted.

"I feel like Julian’s more and more willing to express his feelings lately."

Chloe nodded: "It’s a great sign. The more he interacts with other kids, the better his recovery will be." 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

Silas looked at Fries. "If Fries could stay here, I think Julian’s illness would improve really quickly."

Fries seemed to totally agree, clapping his little hands: "Mommy, I think Uncle’s suggestion is great! That way I can be with Julian every day. If someone bullies him at school, I’ll stick up for him."

If Fries stays, will she ever be able to leave?

Chloe quickly intervened: "Did you forget you’ve got Rose waiting for you at kindergarten?"

At the mention of her, Fries got a little shy and looked at Julian: "Oh, forgot I have a girlfriend. If I don’t go back, she’ll cry. Julian, when summer vacation comes, I’ll come play with you."

He pulled Julian back to watch cartoons.

Silas watched as Albie grabbed a chair to sit opposite Chloe—he hurried over and sat down right away himself.
