Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Chloe Nash and Sienna Paxton Have So Much in Common

Sienna and Chloe have far too many similarities.

Both have thalassemia, both are afraid of puppies, both are allergic to pollen, both love thrill rides.

Two people with no connection at all, and yet so many things in common.

He didn’t believe this was just a coincidence.

Silas stroked Chloe’s photo with his thumb, his voice hoarse.

"Sienna, is it really you?"

If it is, why did she have to come back with a different face?

Could it really just be to hide from him?

Silas’s chest ached terribly. He took out a cigarette, lit it, and inhaled deeply.

The taste of nicotine seeped through his throat into his lungs, but even that didn’t ease the pain in his heart.

He wanted Chloe to be Sienna, yet at the same time, he was afraid they were one and the same.

Because he couldn’t accept that the Sienna who’d once promised to love him a lifetime had changed the face he once loved most, just to keep him from recognizing her.

How much must she hate him, how desperately must she not want him to find her, to come up with something like this?

A cigarette hanging from his lips, Silas let out a grim little smile from his eyes.

He took out his phone and called Chloe.

The phone rang for a long time before she finally answered.

"Mr. Prescott."

The moment he heard her voice, every trace of darkness vanished from Silas’s face.

Replaced by his usual gentleness and poise.

He spoke warmly: "Dr. Nash, I promised to take Fries to the amusement park yesterday, so I’ll send someone to pick you up in a bit."

Chloe didn’t hesitate at all: "My mom’s still at the hospital, so I won’t go. Just let Fries go with Julian, but I’ll have to trouble you to look after them."

This was the answer Silas had anticipated all along.

To avoid any contact with him, Chloe rejected every opportunity to be around him.

He curved his lips slightly, "I was actually free today, but there’s been some progress with your dad’s case, so I have to meet a very important person with the lawyer. I won’t have time to stay with them. How about I let Lucy Rhodes go with them? But I’m worried she can’t manage two kids alone."

Hearing this, Chloe hesitated for a moment and then said, "It’ll be too crowded at the amusement park, Lucy can’t handle it by herself. I’ll let the auntie look after my mom and go with them."

Hearing this, a trace of satisfaction showed in Silas’s eyes.

But out loud he said, "Sorry to trouble you then. I’ve already had fast-track tickets arranged so you’ll get to enjoy more rides."

After hanging up, Silas called Lucy Rhodes.

She was still asleep and mumbled as she answered, "Hello? Who’s this? Who’s waking me up so early in the morning?"

Silas’s cold, deep voice came from the receiver, "Get up. Take Julian and Dr. Nash’s whole family to the amusement park."

Lucy shot up in bed; her eyes were suddenly wide awake after being half asleep just a second ago.

Her brother was definitely never the sociable type—if he sent her it must be for a reason.

She giggled, "Bro, did you want me to do some recon on the enemy for you?"

Silas didn’t confirm or deny, but after a few seconds’ silence he said, "When you get back, tell me everything that happened today, in every detail."

Now Lucy was completely sure about his real intention.

He wanted her to snoop on Chloe and her husband’s relationship.

She thought so—her brother definitely had a thing for Dr. Nash.

This time, she was absolutely going to help him.

Lucy said solemnly, "Don’t worry, bro! Mission accepted. If I confirm Chloe and her husband aren’t close, I’ll help you snatch her right up. How about that? Pretty good little sister, right?"

Silas answered with a cool "Mm. I’ll send you an extra two million this month for allowance."

At that, Lucy jumped up excitedly: "You’re the best, bro!"

He was always strict about her allowance, but today he was suddenly giving her an extra two million.

And what did that mean?

Obviously, it meant he liked Dr. Nash.

To win her over, her brother was clearly ready to go all out.

He’s already being so generous—if they end up together, whatever she asks for, he’d probably give her.

Thinking of this, Lucy hummed a tune as she dashed into the bathroom.

After getting ready, she did her makeup, looking as pretty as ever, then headed out.

She’d just arrived downstairs at Chloe’s place when she saw Jett Sterling in a black suit, looking lazy as he leaned against his car.

Lucy frowned a little.

What was Jett doing here?

Did he want to get back together with Chloe?

At the thought, Lucy sneered coldly, "You think you’re going to steal the woman my brother is after? Not happening."

She got out of her car and walked over to Jett, taking off her sunglasses as she looked at him.

"Young Master Sterling, blocking someone’s doorway so early in the morning—don’t you know Dr. Nash’s husband is on the way? Or are you here to be a homewrecker?"

Jett shot her a cold sideways glance, a scornful laugh rumbling from his throat.

"If I want to do something, I’ll do it openly—not like your brother, acting like a saint but secretly sending a spy."

"Who are you calling a spy? I’m just close with Chloe and accompanying her family out of basic courtesy."

"Then swear to the sun that you don’t have ulterior motives."

The words left Lucy speechless.

She didn’t dare make such a curse—because she did have ulterior motives, and badly, too.

Seeing her stammer and fall silent, Jett chuckled, "We’re both sly foxes here, don’t try to play the innocent with me."

"You’re the fox! Just because your own mind’s all dirty you think everyone else is, too."

As the two argued, footsteps suddenly sounded behind them.

They turned around abruptly to see Chloe coming out with the two kids.

Lucy rushed forward with a smile, "Dr. Nash, is this your son? He’s way too cute!"

Chloe smiled softly and introduced Fries, "Fries, this is Auntie Lucy. She’s taking us out to play today."

Fries greeted her politely, "Auntie Lucy, thank you for taking care of us!"

Lucy laughed, pinching his cheek, "It’s nothing! Taking two little handsome guys out is an honor. Julian, take your little brother and hop in first."

Julian Prescott nodded once, then, like a little host, took Fries up to the car.

Lucy’s eyes landed on Albie Kane, standing behind Chloe.

"You’re Dr. Nash’s husband, right? I’m Lucy Rhodes, your group leader today. I promise you’ll all have a great time."

Albie nodded politely, "Thank you, Miss Rhodes."

"No trouble at all. Shall we?"

She was about to lead Chloe and the others to the car, but Jett blocked their way.

"Chloe, aren’t you going to introduce your husband to me?"

Chloe didn’t refuse; instead, she affectionately looped her arm through Albie’s.

"Honey, this is Jett Sterling—he was my college classmate."

Albie extended his hand politely, "Nice to meet you, Mr. Sterling. I’m Albie Kane."

Jett found the word "honey" especially grating.

He couldn’t help the twitch at the corner of his mouth, "Chloe’s not telling the whole truth—I was not just her classmate, but also her boyfriend for four years. Didn’t she mention that to you?"
