Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Giving Her Mouth-to-Mouth Resuscitation

Feeling that familiar presence, sensing that familiar touch, Chloe’s body instinctively jerked.

Although she’d drunk a few gulps of water, it wasn’t to the point she needed artificial respiration.

But right now, she was Chloe Nash.

She had a severe stress reaction to water. If she didn’t play the part well, Jett would realize something was wrong.

Chloe could only force herself to suppress her inner resistance, letting Silas Prescott give her mouth-to-mouth, breath by breath.

Seeing Chloe like this, Jett’s voice changed pitch as he shouted toward the shore, "Doctor! Doctor! She has a stress response to water!"

The butler immediately took out his phone and called the family doctor.

The previously joyful atmosphere was instantly shattered. Many people heard the commotion and rushed over to watch the scene.

Silas Prescott swam to shore with Chloe in his arms, laid her on the grass, and started pressing on her chest rhythmically.

With every compression, he would shout once, "Chloe, wake up!"

His voice was almost a roar, his heart nearly stopping in his chest.

This feeling was exactly like when he’d heard Sienna Paxton died on the battlefield.

Heart-wrenching pain.

He didn’t understand why he’d react to Chloe this way either.

Jett came stumbling over too, kneeling beside Chloe and grabbing her hand tightly, his voice trembling.

"Chloe, don’t be scared, I won’t let anything happen to you."

After saying that, he took a deep breath, leaning in toward her mouth.

One man was doing CPR, and the other was about to give her artificial respiration.

These two men—one a tech tycoon with a fortune in the billions, controlling the northern economy; the other, The Spire’s star financier.

Any one of them could shake the business world with a single step.

The onlookers couldn’t help but marvel: Who is this woman, that two bosses would risk their lives for her?

Just as Jett’s mouth was about to touch Chloe’s, Silas, in the midst of CPR, shoved him aside hard.

"Don’t touch her!"

Jett glared at him, eyes turning red: "Why can you, and I can’t?"

"Because it was your Sterling Family who pushed her into the water."

With that, Silas pinched Chloe’s nose, took a breath, and covered her lips again.

Watching Silas give Chloe breath after breath, Jett clenched his fists in anger.

His cold, fierce gaze turned to the panicked Stella Sterling beside him.

"Stella Sterling, why did you push her in?"

Stella waved her hands frantically: "I didn’t! She jumped in herself! She just wants to frame me!"

Hearing her explanation, the look in Jett’s eyes grew colder still.

"Chloe has a severe stress reaction to water—she could easily die. Would she risk her life just to frame you?"

Stella was so scared she broke down crying. She’d always been terrified of her brother since she was little.

Their mother had always told her that only if she got along with her brother would the two of them have a good life.

She said with aggrieved puppy eyes, "Jett, I’m your sister, you have to believe me! I really didn’t push her, she jumped in herself!"

Mrs. Sterling also hurried over, and seeing this scene, she quickly wrapped Stella in her arms to comfort her.

"Jett, your sister has always been timid since she was a child. How could she ever hurt anyone? It must be Chloe holding a grudge because I split the two of you up back then, so she’s taking it out on your sister."

In her panic, Mrs. Sterling blurted out the truth.

Jett’s brow twitched uncontrollably. "So it really was you who made Chloe break up with me back then, Claire Channing! I won’t let this go."

As a titan in the financial world, intelligence was a given for him.

How could he not catch the holes in Mrs. Sterling’s words?

Hearing him say that, Mrs. Sterling panicked completely. She shook her head in a rush, "It wasn’t me—it was your father!"

"No matter who it was, I won’t let this go."

The two quarreling voices rang clear in Chloe’s ears.

Claire Channing really was ruthless, to break up Jett and the real Chloe Nash.

Costing Chloe her life, left forever on the battlefield.

At the thought, Chloe’s fists clenched tightly.

Just then, Chloe suddenly felt someone bite the tip of her tongue.

The pain made her snap her eyes open.

The first thing she saw was Silas’s wet, handsome face.

Chloe couldn’t understand. Why would artificial respiration require biting her?

Did he see through her act?

Seeing her awake, Silas immediately asked, "Chloe, how do you feel?"

Chloe coughed a few times, spit out some water, and weakly shook her head.

But her body was trembling violently.

Seeing her like this, Jett immediately leaned in and grabbed her hand. "Chloe, don’t be scared. I’ll take you to see a doctor."

He was about to bend down to pick Chloe up, but Silas got there first and lifted her up in his arms.

The man looked at him with cold indifference. "Young Master Sterling, you’d better handle your family first. For something like this to happen in the Prescott Family, I won’t just let it slide."

With that, he carried Chloe toward the villa.

Julian Prescott saw both his parents soaking wet, and his mother looking almost lifeless.

Frightened, he immediately ran to Chloe and threw himself on her.

His big, shining black eyes instantly filled with tears.

Seeing him like that, Chloe wanted to comfort him right away, but the stress reaction was far from over, so she could only keep on pretending to be weak and fragile.

Lucy Rhodes cursed furiously, "I knew the Sterling mother and daughter were up to no good coming here. She saw, Julian, how much you love your mom and was afraid you’d steal my brother from her, so she went after you! That vicious bitch, I’ll rip her mouth apart!"

Silas’s voice was icily cold. "Anyone who dares touch my woman is asking for death."

Chloe was a little stunned.

How did she become Silas’s woman now?

Shouldn’t it be Stella Sterling?

Thinking back on Lucy’s tone a moment ago, she seemed to have a big problem with Stella Sterling.

Is there some sort of misunderstanding in all this?

The group entered Silas’s bedroom together.

Silas laid Chloe gently on his bed, wrapped her in a quilt, then ordered, "Lucy, get her a change of clothes. Julian, go get a cup of hot water."

The two hurried off to carry out his orders.

Soon after, both clothes and water were brought over.

Silas held the cup to her lips, speaking softly: "Drink some hot water—it’ll warm you up." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

Chloe saw Julian Prescott’s tears almost spilling out and quickly grabbed his hand. "Don’t worry. I’m okay."

Finally hearing her speak, Julian could no longer hold back his suppressed emotions.

He burst into tears, throwing himself into Chloe’s arms.

Choking out two words: "Mommy."
