Chapter 26: Chapter 26: Is Chloe Nash Jealous?

Julian’s birthday banquet was held at the old Prescott Family residence.

The little guy was dressed in a black tuxedo, a white shirt underneath, and a little blue bow tie around his neck.

His originally soft and fluffy hair was styled neatly, revealing his forehead.

Handsome, yet retaining a childlike innocence.

When Lucy Rhodes saw Julian looking like this, she couldn’t help but run over.

Grabbing his little hand and examining him closely: "Our little birthday star looks so handsome today! When Dr. Nash sees you, she’ll definitely like you. Auntie will take you to the yard to wait for her, okay?"

Julian nodded immediately, holding her hand as they walked outside.

The two of them had just reached the yard when they saw a black sedan pull in.

The car window was slightly rolled down, and Julian could vaguely see a woman with long hair sitting inside.

She looked a lot like Dr. Nash.

He instantly dashed over to the car on his short legs and stood respectfully beside the car door.

Both of his little hands hung nervously at his sides.

Those big, bright black eyes stared unblinkingly as the car door opened.

Stella Sterling got out of the car and immediately recognized this little boy as Silas Prescott’s son.

She was a little surprised.

Wasn’t it rumored that this child never warmed up to strangers?

How come it’s her first visit, and he’s welcoming her so eagerly?

It seemed fate had brought them together after all.

She walked up to Julian, handing over a gift: "You must be Julian. This is a present from Auntie, happy birthday."

Julian didn’t take the gift from Stella Sterling.

Nor did he say anything to her. He simply turned away indifferently, his gaze fixed on the entrance.

Lucy Rhodes quickly took the gift, smiling: "Thank you, Miss Sterling. Julian is a bit shy around strangers and doesn’t like to talk to outsiders."

Being ignored by a child didn’t feel great, but Stella made sure nothing showed on her face.

She smiled and replied, "It’s okay, people become familiar after a few meetings. I’ll just visit him a few more times."

She was just wondering how she could win over little Julian, when she suddenly saw him running on his short legs toward Chloe Nash, who had just arrived.

He threw himself into Chloe’s arms, rubbing affectionately against her neck.

The cold little face now beamed with joy.

Seeing this, Stella felt a stab of jealousy: "Mom, isn’t that the doctor treating Grandpa Prescott? Why is she here—and why is she so close to Julian? Is she trying to steal Brother Silas from me?"

Mrs. Sterling let out a cold snort: "If she dares show up, I’ll make sure she learns that not everyone can set foot in the Prescott family."

As Chloe held Julian in her arms, her heart ached with an indescribable bitterness.

She had always felt an attachment to Julian she couldn’t let go, always liked to treat him as her own child.

Yet seeing him standing beside Stella a moment ago woke her up like a dream.

Julian was Silas’ child with another woman, and he had nothing to do with her.

Her own son had died on the battlefield four years ago.

Thinking of this, Chloe’s eyes grew red.

Silas, standing not far away, noticed her expression and immediately walked over.

His gaze asked, "Who bullied you?"

Chloe shook her head, "No one."

"Then why are your eyes so red?"

Faced with his questioning, Chloe’s bitterness grew more intense.

She forced a slight smile: "I’m just happy for Julian."

Lucy Rhodes couldn’t help but whisper into Silas’s ear, "Bro, do you think Dr. Nash misunderstood and thinks you and Stella are a couple?"

Only then did Silas remember: last time, when Chloe said he was a good husband and father, he hadn’t denied it.

Silas’s lips curved almost imperceptibly.

Could it be that Chloe, like him, felt secretly jealous seeing another woman by his side?

The possibility filled Silas with inexplicable delight.

Her jealousy looked just like Sienna’s.

Chloe took a red bracelet from her bag and put it on Julian’s wrist.

"I made this myself. The Peaceful Coin has been blessed at the temple—it’ll protect you for life. Sweetheart, happy birthday."

The red beaded bracelet had a jade Peaceful Coin, with golden bells on either side.

On Julian’s milky white wrist, it looked especially lovely.

Julian seemed to like it a lot, his chubby hand playing with the bells, making crisp and pleasant sounds.

He even deliberately waved his arm at Lucy Rhodes, as if showing off.

Seeing the bracelet, Lucy Rhodes leaned in curiously.

"I didn’t know Dr. Nash’s hands could not only perform surgery but also weave things like this."

"Huh? This braiding looks just like the bracelet Sienna gave my brother."

Hearing this, Chloe showed no sign of anxiety.

This bracelet indeed looked similar to the one she made for Silas—even the Peaceful Coin came from the same piece of jade.

That was the only keepsake her grandfather left her.

Back then, when Silas was injured in family strife, Sienna took the Peaceful Coin pair to the temple, asking the master to bless them—hoping Buddha would keep her and Silas safe, and that they’d always be together.

That was Sienna’s little secret at eighteen.

Now, that secret had become a nightmare she never wanted to revisit.

Since they had parted ways, she no longer wanted to share matching Peaceful Coins with Silas.

Giving it to Julian was the best choice.

She truly wished Julian a smooth and peaceful life.

She could have just bought Julian any gift, but she always wanted to give him her most precious keepsake.

Just as she once gave it to Silas.

So, she stayed up all night weaving this bracelet for Julian, hoping to pass on this blessing to him.

But she only knew one way to weave; there wasn’t time to learn another technique.

She smiled faintly: "I learned online; the styles are probably similar."

Lucy Rhodes immediately pulled Silas over, showing the red bracelet on his wrist, comparing it with Julian’s.

"Dr. Nash, I’m not lying! See, Julian’s bracelet looks just like my brother’s. If you didn’t know better, you’d think they were woven by the same person."

Placed side by side, the two bracelets had identical jade Peaceful Coins and the same braiding technique.

The only difference was that Julian’s had two gold bells.

Seeing this, Silas’s black pupils contracted sharply.

His breath grew a little erratic.

"Where did this Peaceful Coin come from?"

Since Chloe had given Julian the Peaceful Coin, she’d already prepared herself.

Jade pieces looked more or less the same; unless you were an expert, you couldn’t tell them apart.

Her tone was calm: "I bought it in Grendale years ago. Didn’t expect it to look so much like yours, Mr. Prescott. Must be fate between this and Julian."

Silas stared at that Peaceful Coin, studying it intently.

He was convinced the two Peaceful Coins were a pair.

His Peaceful Coin was a gift from Sienna.

At the time, she’d said it was the most precious thing her grandfather left her, and told him never to lose it.

But what about Julian’s?

Mrs. Sterling, standing not far away, couldn’t help but sneer at this sight.

Chloe was really clever, wasn’t she?

When she couldn’t get Jett Sterling, now she’s trying to use matching Peaceful Coins to make Silas think she’s connected to Sienna.

Trying to draw Silas’s special attention.

How could she ever allow that to happen?

Silas belonged to her daughter Stella—she’d never let anyone take him away.

Back then, she’d accidentally seen Sienna with Silas—the two of them seemed intimate.

Later, she found out that after Old Master Paxton died, Sienna was fostered in the Prescott family.

Silas doted on her excessively, even opposing Henry Prescott for her sake.

He treated Sienna just like the young mistress of the Prescott family.

How could she let Sienna succeed?

Why should that jinx steal her daughter’s man?

If she was around, Sienna’s secret—that she was once married and had a child—was bound to come out.

And she could steal Silas away.

So she deliberately stirred up rumors about Silas and Sienna, putting so much pressure on Henry Prescott that he confronted Sienna.

Just as expected, Sienna was scolded so harshly that she left Silas in secret not long after.

If she could go after her own daughter, how could she ever spare Chloe Nash?

Anyone who stood in the way of her happiness had to go.

River Paxton had been one such example back then.
