Entangled in the Night: Unable to Escape Him-Chapter 140: Sienna Is Interested in His Body
Chloe Nash finally realized what was happening and quickly turned around.
"Who was looking at you? Why are you showering in Lucy’s room?"
Silas paced over to her side, his body still radiating the warmth of steam.
The rows of taut abdominal muscles, charged with a pulse of hormones, assaulted Chloe’s vision.
Startled, she hurriedly shut her eyes.
Seeing her reaction, Silas’s lips curved into an ambiguous smile.
"This was originally Sienna’s room, taken over by Lucy Rhodes. Now, I’ve reclaimed it, keeping it for Sienna’s return. But you, you stare so long even when seeing me undressed—Dr. Nash, are you craving my body?"
Chloe quickly shook her head. "I’m not."
"Then why is your face red?"
Silas’s icy fingertip lightly brushed against Chloe’s slightly heated ear.
It made Chloe’s heart jolt.
But she acted nonchalant. "It’s not like it’s the first time I’ve seen your body; in a doctor’s eyes, every body is just a specimen for study."
Silas raised an eyebrow. "Is that so? Are you interested in this particular specimen, Dr. Nash?"
As he spoke, the man bent down, his deep black eyes locking onto Chloe.
As if he could see right through her.
Chloe tightened her grip on the sleepwear in her arms.
Her eyelashes fluttered a few times as she said, "Silas Prescott, stop messing around, I’m going to take a shower."
Seeing her urgency, Silas straightened up, pointing to the room opposite. "Lucy Rhodes now lives across the hall."
Chloe hurriedly ran off with her sleepwear.
Watching her flee, Silas’s throat issued a low chuckle.
It seemed Sienna still had an interest in his body.
After finishing her shower, Chloe came downstairs.
Old Master Prescott gestured to her from the sofa.
"Dr. Nash, come and keep Grandpa company for a chat."
Chloe smiled and walked over, taking a seat beside the old man, asking with concern, "Grandpa Prescott, how has your health been lately? Any discomfort anywhere?"
The old man shook his head. "No, everything is fine. It’s just a bit boring having no one to play chess with. Dr. Nash, do you know how to play Go?"
"A little."
"Then could you play with me for a while? Lucy has never been interested in this, and Silas doesn’t have time. I end up playing by myself every day."
Hearing this, Chloe felt a pang of bitterness.
When she first arrived at the Prescott home, Grandpa Prescott had said the same thing to her.
She only found out later that Grandpa Prescott was very busy at the time, with the corporation at a critical juncture in a power struggle.
Yet, despite that, he made time every day, ostensibly having her accompany him to play chess, but actually teaching her things.
Helping her integrate into this circle quickly.
Making her feel less like a stranger to this family.
Recalling these feelings, Chloe felt some guilt.
She sat beside Old Master Prescott, speaking gently. "I’m not very good at chess, Grandpa Prescott, as long as you don’t mind."
The old man laughed heartily. "As long as you keep Grandpa company, I’m happy. Now, pick your piece, black or white?"
"I’ll choose white."
Hearing this, a hint of surprise flashed in the old man’s eyes.
But it quickly disappeared; he handed the white pieces to Chloe. "Alright, let’s begin."
When people concentrate, they often forget to maintain a façade.
Just like now, as Chloe thought about where to place her piece, she unconsciously started biting her finger.
As the last move fell into place, Old Master Prescott looked at her with some surprise.
"It’s clear your fundamentals are good; I wonder who you learned from."
Chloe was caught a bit off guard by the question.
Her chess skills were taught by Grandpa Prescott. Could he have realized something?
Feigning calm, she smiled. "It’s my neighbor’s grandfather."
Old Master Prescott nodded meaningfully. "I can see his skills are impressive. I’d like for him to visit one day. We could have a match."
Chloe forced a smile. "He’s not in the country right now. When he returns, I’ll introduce you."
Seeing her evasive eyes, Old Master Prescott didn’t press further.
He patted her head. "Better get some rest, you’ll have to work tomorrow."
"Yes, Grandpa Prescott, you should rest early too."
Old Master Prescott leaned on his cane and returned to his room.
From a drawer, he took out a family photo, his rugged hand gently caressing Sienna Paxton’s head.
His voice was somewhat hoarse. "Sienna, is it you returning?"
——
The rain continued to fall outside, leaving Chloe no choice but to stay and keep Julian Prescott company.
Lying down once again in this home, she tossed and turned, unable to sleep.
Next to her was Sienna Paxton’s room, where she and Silas had once lost themselves countless times.
Silas had ascended to the Family Head position at twenty-two, becoming the center of attention.
Everyday, families came proposing marriage, all from major affluent backgrounds.
These women brought not just formidable family backgrounds but a wide array of skills—piano, horseback riding, swimming, dancing—they excelled in everything.
During that time, Sienna finally felt that because of their social disparity, her relationship with Silas was destined to have no future.
Sienna intended to end this clandestine romance.
That time, after school, Silas came to pick her up, heading home for Grandpa’s birthday.
She sat far away from Silas in the car.
Seeing her this way, Silas set aside his paperwork, pulling her into his arms, gently biting her lip.
He lowered his voice to ask, "Why are you sitting so far away? Am I really that frightening?"
Sienna bit her lip, looking at him. "Brother, let’s—let’s end this."
Hearing this, Silas’s initially tender gaze suddenly turned cold.
A chilling laugh escaped from his throat. "What did Sienna say? Brother didn’t catch it."
"I said let’s end it. I no longer want to continue something so unclear. From today, let’s return to a brother-sister relationship, okay?"
Her voice trembled as she spoke.
She feared Silas would refuse to let go.
But contrary to her expectations, Silas wasn’t angry; he pinched her chin, asking, "Are you sure?"
Sienna weakly nodded. "Yes, I’ve decided."
Silas regarded her with an unfathomable gaze. "If Sienna has decided, then I won’t force it. Go ahead."
Sienna felt it was incredible; Silas agreed so easily.
It seemed he was just playing around with her.
Her heart felt heavy with sadness yet relieved at the same time.
When they got home, not a word was exchanged.
Sienna was pulled away by Lucy to sing for Grandpa’s birthday. The party was lively, and Sienna drank a bit of alcohol too.
Sienna wasn’t great with alcohol, and after a few sips, she started feeling dizzy.
She mentioned to Grandpa that she was going to rest upstairs.
Returning to her room, she wanted to take a quick shower and sleep.
But as soon as she undressed, the bathroom door was opened by someone.
Before she could respond, she was pressed against the cold sink.
Silas unexpectedly captured her lips.
