Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 161: Rejected?
’’What do you think of me?’’ Esme glanced at him.
Aleister was momentarily stunned when he looked into her sparkling eyes, ’’What about you? What if I ask the same question?" He took a step towards her, lessening the distance between them, ’’What do you think of me?" he asked.
’’Do you want to hear the truth or a lie?" she tilted her head.
’’A truth will do.’’
’’That day, I lied to you in the court regarding your eyes,’’ When she praised Lucian Norwell’s green eyes, he asked her what she thought about his and she acted indifferently, ’’I hated this color which reminds me of the sea, my nightmares but as much as I hate the sea, I crave it,’’ she whispered, ’’Your eyes are my favorite. You are my favorite.’’
Esme took a step towards him, closing the distance between them. She raised her hand and held his hand, ’’I want to be there with you, for a long long time. I love you, Aleister Daven, and...’’ a soft blush crept up her cheeks. She cleared her throat and hesitated for a moment before continuing, ’’...And you are not allowed to reject me,’’ she mumbled under her breath.
Aleister continued looking at her quietly.
Not hearing anything from him, Esme blinked, ’’What? I... mmph...’’
He grabbed the back of her neck and captured her lips before she could finish her words.
Esme hooked her arms around his neck and one of his arms snaked around her waist. His lips moved against hers, gently at first but with a gradating intensity that sent shivers down her spine. And suddenly as if he was reaching for something, he twirled her around and pushed her to the tree behind them, his palm shielding the back of her head as he kissed her harder.
Aleister couldn’t help it. He wanted to crush her in his arms, in the best way possible, in a way she would love it.
He caught her bottom lips between his teeth, nipping on them gently and her lips parted, his tongue thrust inside.
His lips were cold but as his hair brushed against her face, she arched her neck, feeling a trail of warmth in her body. She tried to focus.
As their lips parted, he leaned his forehead on hers and looked at her face, panting softly.
Esme tightened her hands around his neck as she panted. After she caught her breath, she bit her lips, ’’So...’’ he interrupted her words with another kiss.
A gentle one that had her moan in his mouth. He licked her lips before kissing her chin.
He pulled back to look at her, ’’So?" he raised an eyebrow as an indication for her to continue what she was saying earlier.
’’So, do I take it as a ’yes’?’’ Esme whispered, ’’Can I call you mine now?" Usually, she would never say things like this but she did not know what gave her this leap of courage.
After she realized what he meant to her and what she wanted, Esme felt like nothing was going to hold her back.
As she looked at him, she saw something on his face. Was it a conflicted expression? It disappeared in a fleeting moment and she wondered if it was an illusion of hers.
He chuckled and pecked her lips again, ’’Isn’t this what men are supposed to do, my dear moon?" 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
’’I don’t mind,’’ she shrugged, ’’As long as I get what I want. And I happen to want you.’’
’’What if I say I don’t want you? And I can’t be yours?" Aleister asked.
’’I will say that I have caught you caring for me, pampering me to bits, admiring me, and cherishing me all the time. You can’t keep your eyes or hands off me. So, you must be lying. There is no way you would not want me,’’ she raised an eyebrow and tilted her head to the side, ’’For someone who keeps claiming that I am his, it would be improper if don’t want to be mine.’’
There was a smile in his eyes. So, she wasn’t unaware of everything like she used to act. His gaze flashed and his expression turned solemn, ’’What if I told you that I can’t marry you?" he asked, carefully gauging her expressions.
’’I am not going to be your mistress,’’ Esme rolled her eyes at his joke and placed her hand on his chest before pushing him away playfully.
As she stepped away from him, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her into his arms.
Looking at the serious expression on his face, the smile on her face gradually died down, ’’Why?" she asked, ’’Give me a reason.’’
’’Not now.’’
And her racing heartbeats turned stale all of a sudden. So, her intuition was not wrong. He...really was hiding something from her, ’’Why not?" she pursed her lips, ’’I want to know. What I hate the most is being kept in dark,’’ she pushed him away from her.
’’Esme,’’ Aleister sighed as he raked his fingers in his hair.
’’If you can’t tell me, then I will hate you forever. I want to know the truth and if you can’t give it to me then I will leave this Castle, I will leave you!" Esme knew she was being wilful but she had been understanding enough to everyone.
She was done with all the secrets that her family kept from her. She did not want to wake up to a truth that she won’t be able to absorb into her head.
Arlan was not her biological brother. She was not related to the Reis family by blood. What now? What’s left for her to be shocked about?
She looked at Aleister, her eyes steeling in determination, ’’If you can’t talk to me about what’s on your mind, then don’t bother talking to me at all,’’ she turned around.
Aleister took a step towards her.
’’My Lord!’’
He paused in his tracks and turned around to look at Rowan who was standing at a distance with panic apparent on his face.
’’The situation is grave,’’ Rowan said.
Aleister’s fingers curled into a fist. Just as he took a step, he paused, ’’I’ll see you soon. Wait for me,’’ he said to Esme, looking at her from above his shoulder, ’’I’ll give you a proper explanation.’’
’’I don’t want to see you anymore nor do I want to wait for you,’’ Esme threw the flower in her hand to the ground as she spoke to him without looking at him, ’’And I certainly don’t want any of your explanations.’’
Aleister frowned. He closed his eyes for a moment before he turned around and left.
Hearing the sound of his retreating footsteps, Esme finally turned around. She glanced at his back quietly.
He left.... despite knowing that she was upset.
She squatted on the ground and picked up the rose that she threw earlier to provoke him. Her eyes welled up with tears and she blinked them away. Her lips puckered up in a small pout as she drew small circles on the ground with the stem of the rose.
She was not this wilful usually.
