Ensnaring his Dark Moon-Chapter 148: Scared Leo
*Flashback continues*
Esme knew her words were not making sense and it was childish of her to act this way. But she could not help it as she was babbling her innermost thoughts aloud like this. Perhaps the wine was taking effect already?
’’Luciana,’’ he corrected her, "...Not Culiana."
She raised her head from his neck and rolled to the side, getting off his body. She glared at him, ’’Is that the only thing you heard? Is her name so pleasant that you can’t get it off your mind?" I messed up her name on purpose. Yes, I am that petty.
’’Hmm... sounds like a nice name.’’
She looked at him in disbelief, ’’You are a jerk!"
’’Why? Are you jealous?"
’’Can’t you see that?" She looked at him with limpid eyes, ’’It bothers me so much when I imagine you with someone else. It must be because of your indecent actions towards me that I have started letting my mind run wild...mmmph...’’
He sealed her lips with his, interrupting the rest of her words. His lips moved gently at first but as soon as she wrapped her arms around his neck, his body towered over her, taking her bottom lips between his teeth. He licked and bit her lips alternatively before sucking on the spot he bit.
He pulled back from her and glanced at her red wet lips before looking into her eyes, ’’Did I not tell you that you are my favorite person?’’
’’No...’’ she shook her head, trying to avoid the sound of her wildly beating heart. In fact, he did. He once told her that she was his when they went to the village to look into the mysterious murder along with her brother. But she never took him seriously because he teased her in the next moment.
’’Then I’m letting you know that today. When I say you are my favorite person, you should know that I mean it,’’ he stroked her hair, ’’Stop comparing yourself to people who don’t exist in our lives.’’
Esme had to bite her tongue to restrain the smile forming on her lips. The embarrassment was worth it. Having never pretended to be drunk or crazy before, she was chastising herself.
But his words... Esme could see herself rolling around in the bed, feeling all giddy in her mind.
Later, she did not know why she asked him to sleep with her. As if her previous actions were not embarrassing enough. But this time, she did not have anything weird in mind. After yesterday’s incident, she did not think she could sleep confidently without having him around. And her eyes were closing slowly so it was better to stick to him.
Luckily, he decided to stay with her. She could feel his gaze on her even after she closed her eyes.
Esme did not realize when she dozed off but she was stirred awake when he approached her.
He slowly extended his hand towards her face, letting the tip of his finger stroke her lashes. His finger glided down her cheeks and his thumb caressed her lips.
Esme clenched the sheets tightly in her hand, trying her best to keep breathing properly.
Right then, she heard the sound of approaching footsteps.
Aleister retracted his hand from her face. He stood up and tucked her in the sheets properly before walking out of the room.
Esme released a breath she did not know she was holding.
As soon as the door closed, she opened her eyes and sat on the bed. Who is here at this hour? Is everything alright?
She glanced at the door for a moment before getting out of the bed. She stepped closer to the door only to hear Rowan’s voice from outside.
Esme was stunned for a moment when she heard his words. Something was wrong with the King’s health? But what happened? He looked just fine back in the courtroom.
Esme hurriedly rushed back to the bed and jumped on it when the door creaked open. Soon, Aleister stepped inside the room.
Esme closed her eyes, pretending to sleep.
When she heard the sound of retreating footsteps, she opened her eyes and sat up on the bed.
Esme sighed in relief. That was close. She patted her chest.
"You seem relieved," came a whisper beside her ear.
Esme stiffened. She turned around and glared at Aleister who was standing behind her, towering over her body, "You.... You tricked me."
"I’d like to say the same."
"I-I.." Already having a guilty conscience, Esme stuttered, "When did I trick you? I just woke up..."
"You look prettier when you lie," Aleister pressed the tip of her nose, rendering her speechless with his words, "Let’s not mention how you were eavesdropping on us just now, you even pretended to be drunk and asked me to sleep with you. You will take responsibility for that, won’t you?"
He knew. "What gave me away?"
"A drunk person will not be conscious of their actions unlike you who was gripping the sheets, shaking her feet out of nervousness when you asked me to sleep with you," Aleister tucked the loose strands of her hair behind her ear and adjusted the messy sleeves of her gown.
What a pervert! Why would you look at my feet? Esme lowered her head and twiddled with her fingers.
"So, do you feel guilty now? Or are you trying to hold back from glaring at me?" He asked in a reprimanding tone.
"The latter."
Aleister’s lips twitched.
"Is Leo back?" Esme tilted her head to look at him, "Since His Majesty is not well, we need to look into this matter faster. I hope that his health condition has nothing to do with what we are looking for."
Aleister frowned, "We can’t be certain about that," he glanced towards the window and snapped his fingers.
Soon, Leo jumped into the room.
"Al, did you turn him into a white cat last time?" Esme glanced at him questioningly.
Aleister nodded.
"Then can you change him into anything?" She looked at him with sparkling eyes when he nodded.
"_" Goosebumps rose on Leo’s body. He could not help it. This woman’s burning eyes were scaring him. She must be scheming something as usual. He had a bad premonition in his heart.
