Enslaved To The Alphas-Chapter 280: Earned
Emira drove towards the airport with a calm mind. Not once did she feel guilty about the havoc and chaos she had left behind in her former pack. She did not look back. Every single one of them had earned it. The destruction she left was not random, nor was it born of anger alone. It was deserved and well thought out.
She felt she had been reasonable about it. After all, she had not caused any harm to those who had not actively participated in harming her.
Her fingers tapped against the steering wheel as she thought of the future. The small fire she had sent to the Moonville Pack was only the beginning. It would burn through their lies, their cruelty, and their false sense of safety. And when it was done, when it had taught them its lesson, it would return to her.
Not all of them had harmed her directly. She knew that. Some had never raised a hand against her, never spoken a cruel word to her face. But that did not make them innocent. They had stood by. They had watched. And in their silence, they had allowed everything to happen.
Then there were those who had harmed her mother. They had broken her slowly and mercilessly. And they had done the same to countless other omegas who had been weaker. That blood was on all of their hands.
So no, Emira felt no regret. Every single one of them had earned the punishment coming their way. In this moment, with the beginning of her revenge, she even felt a sense of peace.
Next, it was time for the others... As she thought this, she could not help but frown. Because as she had left, she had received an odd message from Ryn asking her to come back as soon as possible because something had happened. But when she had tried to call back and ask her what could have happened, the phone was switched off. She simple sent her a message that she would be back soon and then slipped the phone back into her pocket.
Shrugging, she returned the keys of the rental car and walked through the airport, finally feeling a shiver of excitement. She was going to return well in time for their mating ceremony. And this would give her a chance to explain everything that had happened in the past to them.
As she walked toward the boarding gate, she could not help but think of them. They rarely used phones because the pack members usually communicated through the pack link. As for her, she had never opened herself to a pack link due to fear of someone intruding into her thoughts.
So now, she could not help but open her messages again, this time without fully meaning to. Her thumb hovered, then moved almost on its own. Lance. Kael. Zen. Would they have sent her a message? But, there was nothing.
The screen remained blank, unchanged from the last time she had looked. She sighed, missing them fiercely. She had gotten used to their presence around her. Despite having lived more than her life alone, in just a few months, she had already forgotten how it felt to be truly alone. After coming home to the Stormhold Pack, she had always been surrounded.
She knew she wasn’t alone. Someone from the pack was probably still discreetly following her. Many times, she had even thought to look for them and ask them to just join her, but try as she might, she had not been able to find any familiar face. She could not help but wonder how the disguises from the Stormhold Pack were so powerful.
As she sat in the plane, her thoughts refused to settle. They kept drifting back to them, again and again, as if pulled by something she could not ignore. Lance. Kael. Zen. The thought of being with them again filled her with a quiet longing she did not bother to deny.
In fact she knew this longing was not just hers but also Mira’s. The part of her soul that had finally made her whole. She had yearned for their love. Her biggest regret in death had been not letting them know that she had liked them as well. For that part of her, too much had been left unsaid.
Her gaze lowered without thought, drawn to her left hand. The ring rested there, familiar and heavy with meaning.
For a long moment, she simply stared at it. Now that she knew what it meant... Her eyes narrowed slightly, and something shifted in her expression. A faint hint of sadness passed through her gaze.
So many bonds were tied together now. Too many pasts were overlapping.
Slowly, she reached up and removed the ring from her left hand. In her last life, she had clung to this promise with everything in her. She had been a fool. She was not going to be a fool this time.
She placed it instead on the first finger of her right hand, where it rested just as securely. For the time being. Soon, she would return this ring to Aron. She had no wish to wear anyone else’s mark on her body. Not even Aron Mast.
The thought of him made her frown slightly. She needed to see him as soon as possible. After all, he was not as innocent as he had portrayed himself in those memories. Did he really think he would have been able to hide his own role in the entire betrayal that had taken place?
So what if he had been captured for a lifetime? He’d had no right. No right to force her to give everything up just for Shiqi.
And then to have Shiqi betrayed him... Her fingers clenched. Foolish promises were meant to fool people.
Emira could not help but wonder where Shiqi was now. The woman who had caused all the destruction would definitely appear soon, with the Golden Moon coming soon. And this time, she would want to succeed in what she had not won last time. But she had no idea who she was going to contend with this time...
