In the depths of the Heart of the Void, a fast and strong pulse, which sounded like a heartbeat, echoed. Unlike in the past, the sound was no longer quiet. Now, it could be heard somewhat even outside the area.

The origin of the pulse was a giant cocoon of black and white, surrounded by a ghastly deep purple light. The light flickers as the pulse occurs, indicating the strong life signs hidden within this cocoon.

Beneath the cocoon were dozens of void creatures prostrating in reverence. They surrounded it in a protective formation. Not a single one made a sound, seemingly content in listening to the sound of their prince's heartbeat for as long as it remains there in slumber.

It's like they're already satisfied to be within the presence of their unborn god. It didn't matter to them if the prince stayed inside that cocoon longer. To them, seeing the prince alive was already a good sign. A miracle brought by their mother for them to eternally idolize.

But of course, there is a reason why the Void created its champion...

The process did include incubating it for a long time, but there's no way it's the true reason why it decided to create one in the first place.

The Void created the Prince to enact its will. To swallow the Primordial Chaos and return everything to Eternal Silence.

And to do that, the prince has to become the perfect champion and get out of its cocoon.

Crack!

That faint and fragile sound was different from what everybody here used to hear, which is why its discernable in the first place. Some thought that they were just hearing things, but soon, the cracking sounds became more and more apparent.

Obviously, the cracks also became more visible on the surface of the cocoon. The sight caused the servants below to feel some panic, but those who were more intelligent couldn't help but feel excited.

Inwardly, they started wondering if their most awaited day had finally arrived.

Crack! Crack! Crack!

The web of cracks became more apparent at the cocoon. So much so that it was extremely obvious at this point. All of the void creatures below stared at it like it's the most wonderful or most horrifying sight they've seen in their entire lives.

And soon...

Boom!!!

The cocoon exploded into pieces. However, it happened in a very mystical manner. The pieces of the cocoon weren't sent too far because of the explosion. The explosion itself only created a loud noise, but its impact was visually very weak, almost contained, even. It's as if there is a mysterious force holding onto them, preventing the pieces from going too far from the source.

However, to the fanatics that have been tending to the birthplace of the prince, they honestly couldn't care less where the pieces of the cocoon go. It could fly off to the Primordial Chaos for all they care; what they are truly concerned with is the state of the entity that has broken out of that cocoon.

And on the very first glance at their liege, their hopes and faith have thus been proven...

The Void Prince was born.

Unlike its fanatic believers, though, the Prince doesn't seem too concerned about its immediate surroundings. Honestly, it didn't even notice the presence of the creatures below.

Its true concern was its hunger. It was the very first sensation; it felt like the moment it got out of its cocoon, and it was unbearable.

Following its instincts, the prince reached out to the pieces of its former home, though not physically, and started eating them. As soon as it tasted its first meal, the prince experienced satisfaction and satiation for the first time. It continued eating the pieces of the cocoon, remaining completely unaware and uncaring of its surroundings.

Below him, the fanatics stared at their liege with fervent eyes. Despite their roaring reverence and celebratory mood, they didn't dare to let out even a single sound in fear of disturbing their liege's lavish first feast. That would be akin to the highest level of blasphemy, and death wouldn't be enough for an equivalent punishment.

So, they stayed in place. Simply staring and memorizing the scene of their god's actions. It's as if they're looking straight at a miracle itself and just couldn't get enough of it.

It didn't take long before the prince ate all of its former cocoon. After that, he closed his eyes and relished the satisfaction and satiation for the first time.

When he opened his eyes, it's as if wisdom finally came to him. Like he had suddenly become aware, or something.

He began looking at his immediate vicinity. He felt his innate closeness to this place, which he knew because this was his home and birthplace. He also instinctively knew that he was a miraculous existence and that everything that the black and white touches was his to govern and use to his liking.

The prince then looked at himself.

He had two arms and two legs, both of which are long and lanky. His body was like a swirling mass of space, one that's capable of swallowing everything. He's also shrouded in a murky black and white fog that behaves like clothes to him. He has a head but no facial features other than his eyes, which were a mixture of black, deep purple, and white.

And hovering behind his head was a halo of what looks to be a black hole. One that is a unique feature to only him, as he instinctually knew, and it's also something that represents his status as the Prince of this realm.

What followed that was some sort of an enlightenment...

The prince realized the reason behind his birth. The purpose of his creation and the ultimate goal of his creator. Its will was his will; there's barely any real difference, really.

This enlightenment didn't cause any disturbance to the prince's mental state. If anything, it made him feel complete.

And it was here that he finally acknowledged the presence of his retainers below. And seeing that the prince's attention turned to them, all of them prostrated in worship.

The prince didn't care. Instead, he raised his head and emitted a fierce howl that shook the very fabrics of the void itself. It was the same sound that effortlessly penetrated the Scarlet Division Wall and made all living creatures feel a threat to their lives.

There's no mistaking it at this point...

The Void Prince just issued a challenge to the children of Primordial Chaos.

**

Everybody felt the Void Prince announcing his presence. Even though no sound was uttered, all of them understood that an existence that poses a severe threat to their lives has just been born.

There's no way to filter this information. The Border Patrol Guardians were not prepared for this; hell, they never even thought that it'd happen in the first place.

And since everybody felt it, this will definitely be a big deal. It'll be difficult to calm down the masses, that's for sure.

However, if there's someone who felt that this threat even stronger. It would most likely be Cedric...

As someone who's closely following the path of the Primordial Chaos, the Void Prince's challenge almost felt personal to him.

Though, he has to give it to the Prince; he does know how to make his presence known. And it's already way obvious that this isn't just some bravado or arrogance; the Void Prince was strong, absurdly so; Cedric's confident of this even though they've yet to meet.

Looking around him, Cedric could see that everybody was connecting the dots. They all felt it, so it was real. And the fact that the enemy could do something like that without needing to force his way into the realm signifies his power.

'Things are going to get hectic again...' Cedric inwardly sighed.

He knew that they couldn't ignore this provocation. Even if it turns out to be fake or just some empty bravado, the Border Patrol Guardians must respond in kind because they are the first line of defense for the realm.

Resources will be spent and blood flow will be, that's for sure. Everybody must prepare to engage with the enemy because once they arrive, they will be ferocious under the lead of that creature.

Cedric himself made his own preparations. He didn't even bother reporting to work this time since he already knew that the team might be temporarily disbanded. Why? Because the camp is lacking in people.

They're about to go to war against the Void Creatures; now's not the time to translate texts or something. Every helping hand is required to focus on the war efforts.

So before he eventually gets busy, Cedric made sure that he's prepared. He checked all of his equipment, especially his weapons and armor. He also made sure to keep some essentials with him just in case of emergency.

And more importantly, he informed his family that he might turn very busy soon. He had no doubts that they felt it too and probably understood why he'll be busy.

While ensuring that he's as well-prepared as he could ever be for this war, Cedric waited for his orders...
