Splash.

Two silhouettes emerged from the water ring around the ruined fortress. Viron rose abruptly, dropping Gnash from his shoulder.

They spent several minutes underwater, which was not a problem for Phantoms at their level, but a guarantee of their safety from the laser blast.

With droplets dripping off her dark robes, Gnash towered over Viron with an angry face.

She demanded an explanation, feeling the effects of his rude slap.

"And? What the fuck was that? Couldn’t you tell me your plan without... using brute force."

Viron shook his head, despite Gnash’s glare, his eyes traveling forward.

"I didn’t have time for that."

"Hey! I’m talking to you. What are you looking at!"

Without waiting for his response, Gnash turned around sharply. Her eyes went wide, seeing two monsters and one phantom surround the Crimson Monarch.

"What the hell...?"

Viron crouched on the edge, folding his hands in his lap like he was going to watch the sunset or... dawn?

Tap. Tap. Tap.

With a calm face, Viron patted the ground.

"Have a seat. Though I didn’t plan it, I’ve prepared the best viewing seats for us. There’s nothing else we can do but watch."

Gnash’s legs twitched, she wanted to run forward but didn’t take a single step that way. Deep inside she wanted to help Adam, but realized that if she even got close to the four warriors she would die.

With slight reluctance, Gnash sat down next to Viron. Her heart was actively beating, she hoped Adam would win, but not just because their survival depended on it. It was a sincere cheer for Adam.

Gnash gritted her teeth, clutching her knees tightly.

"Shit... We can’t do anything, right?"

Viron nodded slightly watching as a massive crimson sword appeared in Adam’s hand. Eerie energy became his cape, shoulder pads made of sharp layers of steel, and a helmet covering part of his face, making his left eye glow brightly like a star.

A long chain ran along an intimidating gauntlet running from his shoulder to his fingertips, the chain clenched his hand around the hilt of his sword with terrible force. As long as the sword remained intact Adam’s grip would not loosen, even if he lost his arm.

Then, everyone used their last trump cards. The Dormant Lord summoned his sword and Adam activated the power gene, a force capable of pulling him out of the abyss.

Taking a deep breath, Viron’s eyes grew deeper.

"I think there’s only one thing we can do."

The three silhouettes moved simultaneously, attacking the monarch.

"Wait for the dawn, the best of our lives."

...

Dawn was a few hours away. As soon as the eclipse came events moved quickly, not a single minute was wasted, whether it was waves of monsters or Adam’s journey into the depths of the fortress.

Oddly enough, such massive events narrowed down to a single point.

Three flashes, white, blue, and red attacked the Crimson Monarch time after time. Each of them was trying to show their best, for now, if they were defeated, each of them would die.

The Dormant Lord and the Blind Sinner refused to become his servants, so now they had only one way out - unconditional victory.

Had the Crimson Monarch abandoned his goal of capturing Adam?

Well, he didn’t know it himself.

Clash. Clash. Clash.

Three swords slammed into his trident time after time, regeneration working constantly since the Crimson Monarch missed their attacks over and over again.

"Argh!"

The crystal sword left a long cut on his back, eliciting a painful groan.

Yet, after a moment, the Crimson Monarch had to bounce back so that the trident point wouldn’t pierce his chest.

The Blind Sinner was the fastest of the three, he moved like ice lightning leaving frost cuts on the Crimson Monarch, trying to freeze the ruler, but...

Clutch.

The Crimson Monarch clenched his fist tightly, streams of blood traveled along his body taking away all the ice, leaving behind only healed wounds.

A split second before the blow, the Blind Sinner defended himself with his sword, the Crimson Monarch’s fist smashing into the wide chain-covered blade.

No sooner had the Crimson Monarch disposed of the two monsters than Adam appeared before him. The heavy sword in dark red energy came down on him with all its force.

The Crimson Monarch’s eyes went wide when a dense layer of electricity covered his trident, the hilt blocking the devastating slash.

Then, the Dormant Lord was ready to inflict a mortal wound on their enemy.

Abruptly, the Crimson Monarch spun around, he let go of his trident while electricity ran along his hands.

"Fool. Do you think you can stand up to me? You’re just stronger than the others!"

Before the Dormant Lord could react, the Crimson Monarch’s fist splitting the wind currents crashed into his chest.

Crackle.

Cracks went through the Dormant Lord’s crystal body, the shockwave throwing him far forward. The Crimson Monarch wanted to buy himself some time.

At the same moment, dense ice covered his legs, making it impossible to move. He glanced forward, seeing the Blind Sinner holding his sword thrust into the ground.

At the Crimson Monarch’s will, the trident trembled in his hand. A great grimace filled his face, forcing him to use his last trump card.

In a heartbeat, the trident became a flash, shooting towards the Blind Sinner’s side. He was prepared for it since he had seen what happened to Katrin after that attack, but...

The speed of the trident was extreme since the Crimson Monarch covered the tip with his blood.

In an attempt to defend himself, the Blind Sinner pulled his sword out of the ground, but the trident already pierced his chest. A cold surge of blood rushed before his eyes, while the cracking trident dragged him far forward.

In that second, the Dormant Lord regained his balance after the throw and was about to rush back into the battle even though he was wounded.

Thunderbolts cascaded down on him, turning the area around him into a lightning inferno. The Dormant Lord tried to lunge forward, but in order to survive he was forced to defend himself, deflecting the thunderbolts with his sword.

With the confidence that he now had at least one minute before the Dormant Lord and the Blind Sinner came to their senses, the Crimson Monarch looked forward.

’This is not the outcome I hoped for, yet I can still capture Adam Vinter. I have to do it right now!’

However, something caused the Crimson Monarch to stop, even though Adam did not attack.

’What is it...?’

White energy was heading towards Adam’s sword, taking out the eerie red energy resembling demon blood.

Adam’s blue eyes grew deeper:

"Even if it’s not the needle... I can still create the path..."

Under his whisper, dense white streams traveled down his legs and arms, gently preparing his weapon for a single attack.

Adam said nothing more, staring at his opponent without fear.

A strange feeling filled the Crimson Monarch’s heart. He saw no hatred or cruelty in Adam’s gaze, even the obvious fatigue faded into the background.

To his dismay, the Crimson Monarch soon realized what lurked in the depths of Adam’s eyes.

Farewell.

With his next step, Adam’s silhouette trembled, moved toward the Crimson Monarch in an instant.

It was only part of the longest path in his current history.
