Chapter 933: Chapter 46: The Destined Savior

Bologue is convinced and certain that neither now, nor in the past or future, would he ever love the so-called Devil, and he would always hold absolute hatred and disgust for it.

What disturbs and pains Bologue even more is that, no matter how much he resists the Devil, he finds it difficult to escape from it.

Just as the Astronaut said, he needs him to carry out a grand plan, and he himself also needs to use the Devil to unravel the truth of all mysteries.

His Undying Body, the strange Protection, and even the various information provided by the Devil, they tempt Bologue like the honey oozing from a tree, until he is deeply entangled, unable to extricate himself, eternally imprisoned like a mosquito in Amber.

Bologue does not fear this; on the contrary, what he truly fears is his inability to fulfill others’ expectations.

"I am a Pioneer... I am a Pioneer..."

Bologue muttered to himself, as his twisted psychological ailment resurfaced, just as Geoffrey had once described him, Bologue harbors an almost distorted Savior complex and sacrificial spirit.

This might stem from the guilt of being the sole survivor amidst the scorched earth fury. Bologue sees himself as a future Pioneer. Even if he dies on the path, he would drive his corpse, crawling, to bring back knowledge of the New Continent.

"I am also a Pioneer," the Astronaut echoed Bologue’s soliloquy, "just as I like this outfit."

The Astronaut looked down at his outfit, "I don’t think there’s anything more fitting for a Pioneer than a spacesuit."

"To challenge the frontiers of human cognition, to pioneer the Forbidden Land of life."

Bologue ignored the Astronaut’s words, still trapped in his maddening thoughts, like a storm swirling in his mind, completely shredding his brain, viscous blood scraping within his skull.

"What do you want to do?"

After a long while, Bologue gazed at the meteorological chart and asked softly, "What do you need me to do?"

The Astronaut emitted an unsettling, victorious laugh, snapping his fingers as a stack of printed meteorological charts appeared in his hands.

"It’s simple. The Eye of Omniscience can detect changes in global Ether density. At present, Ether is surging within the Material Realm, meaning that the Material Realm and the Ethereal Realm have already overlapped to a certain extent. Over the centuries, the overlapping area wasn’t large. It was like a slender pipeline, continuously delivering Ether into the Material Realm and transforming it."

The Astronaut casually corroborated another conjecture. The rise in Ether density symbolizes the overlap between the Ethereal Realm and the Material Realm. These two entirely different dimensions will soon collide together completely in the near future. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"The rising Ether density can be seen as the overlapping area gradually expanding over time, with the slender pipeline gradually turning into a spilling dam, allowing a large amount of Ether to flood into this world, rapidly increasing the Ether density."

Bologue asked, trying to maintain inner calm, "And then?"

"It’s simple. Find it, close it, and stop this whole overlap. Sever the connection between the Ethereal Realm and the Material Realm, and if possible, push the Ethereal Realm away to completely eliminate this threat."

The Astronaut continued with his plan, "I call the preset location of the initial overlap the Gate of Origin. Close that gate, and the disaster ends."

Picking up one meteorological chart after another, he said, "Finding it is also simple. Just locate the area with the highest Ether density, and that’s where the Gate of Origin is."

"You Devils do not know its location?"

Bologue suddenly realized that the Devils weren’t clear about the Ethereal Realm’s information, at least not entirely.

Then Bologue asked again, "What exactly are you Devils?"

The Astronaut said, "That has nothing to do with what we must do."

"Then how can I trust you."

Bologue wouldn’t easily believe the Astronaut’s words. Even if he says their interests align, who knows what kind of interest he considers it to be. As for closing the so-called Gate of Origin, who can guarantee that the Astronaut won’t completely blow up that gate, accelerating the overlap of the two dimensions, rendering everything irreversible?

And why do this now?

The Astronaut’s existence reaches far beyond Bologue’s comprehension, as with his kindred. Bologue does not understand the essence of the Devil, nor does he know the whole truth. All he can do is piece together a near-truth answer from the shattered words of the Astronaut.

A millennium ago, the Astronaut must have realized the existence of the Gate of Origin. Yet, he did not think of closing the door back then but rather aimed to do so years later...

"Why didn’t you close that door before?"

"Because the conditions weren’t right yet. The Ether density was extremely thin, and the world was so vast that I couldn’t accurately find its location."

"You are a Devil. Organizing a search party isn’t a difficult task for you."

"Indeed, but my kin did not agree with my thoughts. They longed for the moment when the Gate of Origin would permanently open. Once I revealed my true intentions, I would face their blows, just like during the scorched earth fury, just like King Solomon’s death."

The Astronaut spoke, yearningly looking up at the Eye of Omniscience, "To think, this is still King Solomon’s legacy. After designing the blueprint for me, he died. It’s such a pity."
