Chapter 878: Chapter 28: Extreme Realm

The gap between the Prayer Believers and the Defenders was still too vast. Yet within this disparity, Bologue found himself absorbing the Ether of the Silent Ones, seizing it, and for a moment even Bologue himself was dazed, unable to comprehend what was happening.

"Abs... absorbing?"

Bologue had long been aware of his absorption ability through hunting demons, drawing fragments of souls from their corpses to alleviate Bulimia Nervosa, and storing it as a reserve of Ether.

Regarding this ability, Bologue had never understood what it truly was, but in this dire situation, he somehow unleashed this power.

With Resentment Fang out of hand and Ether exhausted, Bologue lost all means of counterattack. At the moment of swinging his fist to retaliate, he only thought of countering like a hysterical soldier, fumbling for a weapon on his body.

Eventually, he pulled out a dagger he couldn’t even remember from a corner.

"What did you just say?"

Looking up, Bologue faced the limitation of his Tier, unable to absorb more Ether from the Silent Ones. Yet, the Ether he had absorbed was enough to reactivate Bologue’s Alchemy Matrix. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"Soul Sucker?"

The Silent One’s voice was a muffled roar, and Bologue only caught the first half of it.

"Truly bizarre."

The Silent One shook his head; from beginning to end, he hadn’t paid attention to Bologue, merely talking to himself.

Blinding light surged as the Silent One raised his Ether Blades once more. Even if Bologue could absorb his own Ether, what of it? With Bologue’s current absorption rate, he simply couldn’t seize all his Ether in time to prevent a beheading, which would only take an instant.

With a burst of lightning, the Silent One struck down a bolt. Bologue’s eyes flared, and the Flame of the Cauldron roared wildly. The Deceitful Snake Scale Liquid surged, transforming into dense Iron Branches, stabbing toward the Silent One.

Bologue knew he couldn’t hold off. Even though the absorption power had suddenly awakened, relying solely on it couldn’t reverse the battle situation. The current Silent One was just too powerful.

It was then Bologue realized how lucky he was to have defeated the Silver Knight amid the timeline chaos, relying on the support of powers like Calamity and Lebius. They barely managed to kill the Silver Knight, which was just a puppet remotely controlled by the Third Seat.

The Defensive War Chariot.

Bologue had fully sensed the might of this power, like an unstoppable chariot. Whoever dared to obstruct him would be crushed to pieces.

Lightning shattered the Iron Branches, annihilated them. The high concentration of Ether released a frenzied force, easily decomposing these metallic substances. It was poised to slay Bologue next, and Bologue was unclear how long it would take him to resurrect this time.

Bologue stared directly at the lightning, determined to witness his death firsthand, refusing to back down. Under Bologue’s fierce glare, the rushing lightning suddenly halted, then reversed its direction.

Suddenly, the Silent One abandoned his assault on Bologue, swiftly turning and wielding his sword, hurling the deadly lightning behind him.

The sound of the wind belatedly arrived, and Bologue heard a low hum capable of stirring a storm.

The Canyin light flared dramatically and then vanished. After the smoke cleared, a tall figure appeared before the Silent One, with the lethal lightning lodged at his chest. No matter how hard the Silent One tried, it couldn’t advance any further.

"Not bad, Bologue," Nesanel smiled at Bologue, "You held out longer than I expected."

"De... Deputy Director?"

Bologue collapsed back, exhausted. Aimou rushed over to support him, sharing Bologue’s look of astonishment.

Had the Sublimation Furnace Core opened the closed building to bring reinforcements? But having the Deputy Director as reinforcements seemed like overkill.

Aimou’s complexion shifted slightly. She suddenly realized that the Void Realm of the closed building remained intact, not damaged at all. So, was Nesanel inside the building from the start?

"Nesanel."

A raspy voice came from the Silent One’s mouth. Usually silent and still, he’d spoken more today than ever before, even surprising himself.

"Long time no see."

Nesanel offered a composed smile, grasping the arm wielding the lightning with one hand. A fearful power spread from Nesanel, leaving no doubt about his murderous intent. Yet, Bologue sensed no Ether reaction or fluctuation from it.

Ethereal Concealment, enough to perfectly mask a Glory Holder Tier’s Ether concealment.

Extreme Realm.

Upon reaching the Defender Tier, due to the personnel’s high affinity with Ether, many Ethereal Skills would receive final enhancements, almost displaying effects akin to Secret Energy, known as the Extreme Realm.

As a Seeker of Glory, Nesanel mastering several Extreme Realms was simple. Without directly seeing Nesanel, Bologue couldn’t perceive his presence at all.

This was Bologue’s first encounter with the so-called Extreme Realm.

Nesanel slightly applied pressure, and a chilling sound of bones breaking resonated. He snapped the Silent One’s arm, and the rolling lightning dissipated.

Tearing off the Silent One’s arm, the fracture didn’t ooze blood but within the dark, muddied blood, there flowed shimmering light.

With the power of a Defender, the Silent One’s body had already begun Etherealization, gradually stepping into the extraordinary. Conventional physical damage was no longer enough to kill him.
