Endless Debt-Chapter 786 - 248 The Only Wish_3
A dull ache spread across his body. Ewen felt as if he had been disassembled by someone, only to be pieced back together. It was an awful sensation.
Asmodeus shouted back, "Then how will you fulfill your desire?"
She could sense it, that intense desire hidden deep within Ewen’s heart, tightly restrained by his rationality and so-called nobility. What Asmodeus had to do was break Ewen—it was inevitable that he, like everyone else, would eventually succumb.
Ewen staggered to the game table, bloodied palms gripping his own card.
"I told you... but you just didn’t pay attention."
Ewen mumbled to himself, "I will draw that Wish Card; it will fulfill all my desires."
A burning pain ignited at his fingertips, and Ewen began laughing to himself. Beside him, Palmer and Aimou stared intently at the card, their faces filled with disbelief.
"Damn it..."
Palmer thought his luck was good enough, but clearly, compared to Ewen, he was far short, as if fate favored him.
Ewen showed Asmodeus the card in his hand. As flames engulfed it, it transformed into a dazzling orb of light, hovering above Ewen’s hand.
Wish Card.
"No need for a soul, no price to pay..."
Ewen mumbled as he approached Asmodeus. At that moment, Asmodeus’s expression turned cold. No matter what, she hadn’t anticipated this development. Yet she smiled confidently, knowing Ewen wouldn’t refuse her, only inch closer to ruin.
What would his wish be?
After brief shock, Palmer suddenly snapped out of it. Ewen had miraculously drawn the Wish Card, but what would his wish be?
Bologue stepped into the game carriage, events unfolding before him, doubts creeping in once more. Ewen’s wish would determine the path of coming events; what wish would he make?
The answer was already quite clear.
The orb coalesced into a die in Ewen’s hand. Depending on the number he rolled, it would determine the degree of his desire’s distortion.
Ewen walked toward Asmodeus, getting ever closer. An intense sense of crisis erupted in everyone’s hearts, just as was said from the start.
No one was special; under desire’s temptation, all would reveal their ugly side.
Ewen stood squarely before Asmodeus. She smiled confidently, knowing Ewen would come back, just as he’d never really left.
"My wish is..."
Ewen said as he reached out and embraced Asmodeus. The sudden closeness caught her off guard, but she hugged Ewen back and looked challengingly toward the silent Belphegor.
"I’ve won."
Belphegor shook his head in disappointment, turned, and vanished from the carriage.
Asmodeus was immersed in the joy of victory, Ewen clinging tightly to her, burying his head in her neck as if kissing her. But then Asmodeus heard Ewen’s whispers in her ear. She thought she’d misheard, until a pain blossomed in her chest.
"You..."
Asmodeus stared dumbfounded at Ewen before her. His expression was indifferent, one hand gripping the die, arm wrapped around her waist, the other hand holding a dagger, piercing her chest. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
Ewen didn’t think this could kill the Devil, but he didn’t care. He only wanted to express his emotions through his actions; then he shouted angrily at Asmodeus, repeating his wish.
"Let us leave!"
Ewen rolled the die in his hand without looking at the outcome. Meanwhile, the wound in Asmodeus’s chest began to collapse.
The dagger seemed to pierce the boundary between spaces. Asmodeus’s body shattered like a mirror, the wound twisting into a black hole, devouring surrounding matter, disintegrating, fragmenting.
Asmodeus still carried an incredulous expression as she reached out, seemingly wanting to grab Ewen. But he ran without looking back, forcefully pulling Palmer as he passed by and shouting at him.
"What are you doing in a daze!"
With the black hole’s annihilation, the entire game carriage began to distort under a strange suction. Asdemor opened his mouth, his sharp, raspy wails of torment directed at Ewen.
"You... you, you, you!"
Palmer was completely bewildered. Ewen’s actions were totally against his expectations; the constant upheaval rendered his mind unable to process it.
"What do you mean, you! You thought I’d make a wish for the Devil to marry me? Are you crazy, or am I crazy!"
Palmer was speechless. He was certain he wasn’t crazy, but he felt Ewen couldn’t possibly be considered normal.
The game carriage contorted into a mass of compressed metal, the destruction extending into the next carriage. Bologue couldn’t help questioning.
"So what on earth are you risking it all for? That damned woman?"
Faced with Bologue’s question, Ewen laughed in response, "Indeed, it’s for her. I fell in love with a Devil, I admit that, but it’s only part of the reason!"
"Bologue! I have a ruthless editor; I need a perfect ending to please him, plus my deadline’s approaching! So think of something, everyone!"
There was no trace of tension in Ewen’s words, only the feeling this guy was spouting nonsense, telling them jokes.
Crackling sounds came from overhead—it was Limbless, its arms sweeping into the carriage. Bologue deftly dodged the arms and scooped Aimou up by the waist; she was running too slowly, nearly overtaken by the collapse.
"Did I fool you all?"
In the midst of escape, Ewen couldn’t resist continuing his jokes. For some reason, he was unexpectedly joyful, "Tell me, did I fool you?"
Bologue ignored him. Palmer did the same. Ewen continued excitedly shouting, "The author is a perfect liar! Even the Devil was fooled by me! Haha!"
Ewen succeeded. He fooled them all. Bologue thought he would succumb to his desires; he didn’t anticipate Ewen fulfilling his promise, just as he had said earlier—if he got the Wish Card, Ewen would lead everyone out of here.
The carriage’s collapse was near. Amidst the keen cries, even Limbless was engulfed by the destruction Asmodeus had triggered, its horrid form squeezed, twisted, turning into a mess of overflowing blood.
Bologue crashed through door after door. Behind each door, the world grew ever more grotesque. After opening who knows how many doors, a bright light burst forth from behind, consuming everyone, and soon after, they were annihilated by the impending destruction.
