CHAPTER 327 – In Trouble

Hearing the judge speak, Attorney Longwei was left with no choice and she dipped her head in a low bow, "forgive my actions, my lord."

She took her seat after that.

From the corner of Wu Bai's eyes, he could see the smile etching on Andromeda's lips as she watched the drama unfold and he couldn't help but curse in his head silently. ƒ𝑟𝐞𝗲𝘄𝙚𝚋𝑛o𝙫𝒆𝒍.𝒄𝘰𝓂

'Who knows what other evidence this woman has in that purse of hers?' Wu Bai complained internally.

As the video slowly unfolds, a man dressed in black, obviously looking no different from the person in the first footage shown to them, strode to the seat behind Beatrice's seat and pulled out a chair, only to sit behind her.

Gasps could be heard from the public and it only made Andromeda's heart dance in her chest, seeing as the evil deeds of Beatrice were slowly unravelling before everyone.

They watched as the man secretly conversed with Beatrice in the video before secretly and stylishly handing Beatrice a chip.

Everything had been done with precision and care so that the culprits were sure no one had spotted their actions and returned to being the strangers that they were.

A satisfying smile crossed her face at the sight and she tucked it away as though nothing had happened.

Beatrice's face, which had already turned pale, went from normal pale to gravely pale as her own acts were shown before her eyes.

It was at this time she recalled the words Peng Xiaoli spoke to her on the day she got the young lady fired.

She was seen in the slumps.

Without a second thought, she was sure who had done this wickedness to her.

Her breathing hitched as she turned her head slowly to the side where she was sure Peng Xiaoli was seated.

Sure enough, her eyes met with Peng Xiaoli's beaming vicious ones. She had been watching her. That simply proved her guess correct.

But now was not the time for guesses to be proved right. With pieces of evidence like this, she wondered what she could do to fight this.

No doubt her lawyer was facing the same trouble she was facing now and more importantly; Attorney Longwei must have been used to such in the past.

However, when Beatrice peeled her gaze from Peng Xiaoli to her side, she saw Attorney Longwei clench her jaw tight but her face held no terror.

The way and manner the lady held herself gave Beatrice the assurance that perhaps she had something up her sleeves.

Little did she know, Attorney Longwei was keeping appearances.

Attorney Longwei, who was internally facing her own turmoil, ended up meeting the gaze of Beatrice who signalled with her eyes for Longwei to handle the situation.

At that moment, Attorney Longwei decided to try one more act up her sleeves as she got to her feet.

"We've seen the video," she accentuated, meeting the gaze of Lawyer Chang who turned to look at her.

"But that doesn't mean it's real, what if it's edited?"

"I can assure you to a hundred percent that it isn't," he clarified, "and it has already been looked under before being presented to the judge, so my fellow lawyer, Ms. Longwei, there's no use arguing it."

He had simply shut her up with his valuable statement.

At this point, Attorney Longwei was rendered mute, and Beatrice wasn't blind enough not to see the hard reality that had befallen her.

"Also, I have a valuable witness here who was mistreated by you, Ms. Zhang."

"She is lying," Beatrice interjected quickly. She was mad and tired and was ready to ruin his plans.

"I am not."

Not liking where this whole thing was going, Attorney Longwei decided to intervene.

"Lawyer Chang, go straight to the point. I do not see how this question relates to my client. If you have nothing to say, then please allow someone who does."

Lawyer Chang did not speak and averted his gaze to the judge, waiting for his intervention.

"Attorney Longwei, one more interference like that and I would have you sent out of my courtroom," Judge Jungjie threatened.

"My apologies, your honour," Attorney Longwei quickly corrected herself and sat back down.

"Carry on."

Getting his go-ahead, Lawyer Chang wasted no time in completing his statement.

"Your supposed ex-fashion designer's personal assistant, Ms. Peng Xiaoli, you framed her as well, using her as your scapegoat to cover up your crimes of being caught for stealing Ms. Kai's work."

"What?!"

The judge arched his brows at Beatrice in a questioning manner. She had no right to holler anyhow in his courtroom.

Just that stare made her realize her mistake and whom she was speaking to before.

Quickly she cleared her throat and lowered her head in apology before him. Once she lifted her head, she sent a glare at Peng Xiaoli before looking at Lawyer Chang.

"And from the look you are giving her, I am sure you never expected her to come up clean with the matter."

"No, because that is absurd," Beatrice Zhang defended.

"How so?" Lawyer Chang carefully asked, taking a proper turn to face Beatrice Zhang.

"Because she is lying."

"Do you have proof of her lies?"

"No. Neither does she. She is just looking for an opportunity to cry out because of this trial," she retorted.

"How can you be so sure, Ms. Zhang?"

"I know scoundrels like her."

"From your mannerism, it is safe to say your work relationship with the employees in the company is bad. Also, you had no right to rudely throw her out and fire her," Lawyer Chang pushed.

"Objection, my lord," Attorney Longwei intervened.

"Sustained."

She huffed in frustration and shot Beatrice a warning stare. She was falling more and more into his trap and she did not know it.

"Do you have proof of this accusation, Lawyer Chang?"

"Yes, your honour. I very much do."

Several gasps fell off the lips of everyone present as they listened to the trial. If they had proof, it meant Beatrice was in an even messier soup.
